The thing that I got noticed most for, was making sure the whole production network stayed up, and ran the help desk and coded the in-house apps that were used.
I think that the fact I was able to Multitask like that was what got me the respect to run the network.
I think if the users are used to a 45-50% uptime on the network and you bring that up to a 99.9% uptime you can get respect as well.
I dont know where your working, but If all they notice is the downtime, I would be very bitter. But I guess being noticed for what you DONT do is only part of 2 Jobs

I like Mandrake, it is nice to finally see a company compete with redhat in the Linux for sale department. Redhat has done a good job, but if you leave them sitting there to long, they might think they are another Microsoft.

Could it be part of the reason Direct TV's Broadband Unit went ass over teakettle. is because on the television commercials they were basically saying "Download free Music"
"View Movies"
And the such could this have been a case of the MPAA/RIAA getting involved?

What? Someone other than Microsoft has a Security Hole? wow.......
I never thought I would see the day when
1. Someone other than Microsoft had a huge security hole with a whole CERT advisory and all
2. I got the first post!
Yes I went to college for a C.S. And E.E. degree but I didnt get into linux until I was a Junior, and then it was by Visiting the local LUG, and learning, and then I installed redhat 5. I have been using Linux ever since.
So what I would do is, go http://www.linuxiso.org
And research the Distro that is best for you, and then I would go and get books about that distro, and ask question at the LUG, Remember there are no stupid Questions.
Also if possible check out an install party that way you can click around the Distro, see how it installs, and see how it feels for you, before making the big move to re-partition and install your systems. Because that is a big deal.
and a big move.
I think we need to let Microsoft go, eventually people will get so tired of their bloated software that they will switch.
This case has taken up several years of the federal courts time, and has been a waste of tax payer money.
Now dont get me wrong i Hate Microsoft just as much as everyone else here,. But i am tired of spending money i could be using to buy new hardware and software on a trial that isnt ever going to do me any good.
I am sorry, but it needs to die, if we keep it going, microsoft will be around that much longer

I think what they said was, they were going to stop producing x86 CISC processors that compete with intel.
Within the next 5 years, I expect the Instruction Set to get so bloated for Intel x86 Chips, that RISC will come back in to play, and I think that is where AMD is looking to make their money, is in RISC.
I belive that when Apple announces new generation processors, that they will be AMD, or some company of the like, making RISC processors,
This is just my opinion. Instruction Sets for Intel Chips are bloated already, so I expect this to come down to a CISC vs. RISC not an AMD vs. Intel or Apple vs. Intel war, just easier, computing with power to boot.

I am a coder, and a hacker, and I use Open Source, So Are you calling me not a real punk? If So, thats your choice. But just a question, how many engineers do you think listen to Punk at Micro$haft?
Punk Rock i have found in the years that I have been a punk rocker is more than Fast Cars, Loud Guitars and Easy women it is a way of life, it is a mind set, but according to people on MTV it is about Skateboarding and Drinking Beer with your friends, Punk Rock isnt a Fashon or a TV Show, it is not a concept on MTV it is somthing I have inside of me, it is not going to hot topic (or your favorite "Non Conformist" Store) and buying a Dead Kennedys Shirt, and saying "Anarchy in the UK Man" It is about trying new things and changing. It is not about Your Cool Tattoos (Even though I am sleeved) It is about being your own person and not letting people tell you what to do. If you wanna see a movie about punk rock go see "Another State of Mind" it is a good movie about the early west coast punk movement, or SLC Punk, is a killer show, but Its up to you.
I like Cocoa, and the best Kit I have foudn that will let me Develop Cocoa and still write Classic Mac Apps is Code Warrior it handles it all very nice. Also if you wanna learn how to program or anything sign up over at Apple Developer Connection http://developer.apple.com/ It is free to sign up for it, and if you are a student you can sign up for The Student Subscription for 99 bucks. but thats how I would do it.

3. Any of the Earlier Oakenfold Stuff before the most Recent one, the new Oakenfold is weird and it will take some time to get use to it, But He is a Leader (Named Most Sucsessful DJ in the World) and Get any of his Global Underground CD's
4. IN Itunes check out some of the Electronica in the INternet Radio section there is some good techno, in there, right now I am listening to DJ Trance from Digitally Imported which seems to bee the most stable
