I find that the rates are incredibly high for what these companies do. Credit Card validation over the internet should be a relatively easy process, but there are so many middle men in the business that it's crazy. Visa, Mastercard, etc issue the cards, why can't I deal with them directly?
It doesn't matter how open the format is. Once Microsoft starts adding thing like digital watermarks and signing other readers wont be able to read the files. At least Adobe actually ports their code to Linux. We can't expect this from Microsoft.
So when are they going to remove the quote by Linus?
"BitKeeper has made me more than twice as productive, and its fundamentally distributed nature allows me to work the way I prefer to work - with many different groups working independently, yet allowing for easy merging between them." -- Linus Torvalds
When is OOo going to include more standard templates. To most people, Impress is useless because it doesn't come with a sufficient amount of bundled templates. Sure you can find more online, but people used to MS Office are not going to deal with that.
I haven't used mandrake in I don't know how many years. I'm just asking questions so people in the open source community realize the little things need to change to make it much easier to use Linux.
Mandrake has done a good job based on what I saw in the screenshots. The only thing I think they should add is a frontend to Yum. Although there is probable plenty of software on the cd, not everything is going to be there. Perhaps if the user downloads an RPM from the net and double click it, yum starts up, parses the filename and installs all the dependences associated with the program. If Mandrake can pull that off i'll be very impressed and have more reason to suggest it for friends. Unfortunely, you won't be checking me running mandrake anytime soon. I've already been sold on Gentoo.
I just downloaded realplayer 10, but I get this message when trying to play a realone file:
"The content you are trying to play uses an audio codec that is obsolete and no longer supported. Please contact the content provider about using a supported codec."
What's up with this? I got the file from Cdnow.com. ---------
If their software doesn't work in least priveleged mode doesn't it defeat the whole purpose of the system?

Since Darwin is based on FreeBSD, are all open source kernel modules for FreeBSD fair game to modprobe?
They would encrypt there emails.

What does this mean for ReiserFS? The project is currently being funded by DARPA.
Does this mean you have to pay extra for each instance of suse you run under Xen?
That's exactly the problem. Many people, including myself don't have any artistic skill. That's why we need the bundled tmeplates.

Microsoft was dropping Windows XP Period.
What are the advantages of using Plone/Zope versus straight up python? It seems to be just another layer of complexity and slowdown.
Who needs Swahili? I'm waiting for them to release the Khoisan language pack for Openoffice.

So basically this sundial is useless when it comes time to change the time back or forward an hour.
Bring Back Maniac Mansion
I know they added hardware NX, but i'm wondering if they added softwared based NX similiar to Window's DEP in SP2.
Has the 2.6 branch been patched with exec-shield yet? I know there is some compatibility issues, but Linus said he was going to allow it anyway.
Why isn't this done by default then?

I know it's feasible, but there are no good frontends for old granny to easily install software.
