Actually, that is a quite good example. After the MS code is injected, Linux is now tainted. It would probably be easier to remove MS code from Linux than removing GM organisms from the environment once let loose.

I'm not worried about giant killer tomoatoes. I am worried about tomatoes that have no flavor. I am worried about tomatoes that have lower nutrient value. I am worried about subtle, unknown, untested changes in the nature of tomoatoes that may not manifest for a number of generations. I am worried that once these modified tomoatoes cross breed with unmodified tomatoes, I have no option, no choice, to grow or purchase an unmodified tomato.

You may not care whether that choice exists. Does that mean that I should not have that choice?

GM food has been shown to have negative impact on the environment where it's grown and it's effect on our health would best be described as "disputable", since the GM companies are actively lobbying the government for exclusive access to our kids food supply.

Sheer nonsense. First off, most of the food you eat has been genetically modified. It's just that silly buggers who don't know anything tend to get more upset about those eeeevil scientists in their crazy white coats than they do about farmer bob and his descendants selectively breeding plants for their own purposes. Anyone who eats seedless fruit while complaining about "GM food" is a fucking idiot.

Genetic modification is not the same as selective breeding. Do you honestly think that shooting fish DNA into a tomato to give it (hopefully) better resistance to cold is the same thing as saving seeds from a tomato plant that was least damaged by an early frost?

The risks involved with selective breeding are small to non-existant. It was going on before humans dreamed of dabbling in agriculture. Poor adaptations died and were removed from the gene pool.

GM plants are completely unseen before combinations of disparate species. Their effect on similar species and on humans when ingested are untested. But hey, let's just let 'em loose on the world and you know, see what happens.

    2. Maybe we won't run out of oil because it isn't really made from dead trees and dinosaurs. I've been meaning to find some numbers, but I have a hard time understanding the amount of decaying organic matter necessary to create the 80+ million barrels/day of oil pumped from the ground in 2005. I know were talking about geologic time scales here, so I'd be interested in seeing some numbers about how many trees and dinos that adds up to.

I'd also be interested to find out how trees and dinos ended up 10k+ feet below the surface of the earth. Some of these are 35k+ feet (7+miles) deep.

    3. I doubt there were many trees or dinosaurs on Hyperion or Titan, 2 of Saturns moons. Yet, they have pools of hydrocarbons, hmmmm.

I'm just concerned that global warming is really another scam to take more of my money in the form of taxes to "save the earth". If I remember correctly, when I was a kid, the big fear was we were going into a new ice age. Now we have the same data providing proof for the exact opposite hypothesis. Now get off my lawn.

You are obviously not familiar with the disk swap trick for using copied PS1 games. I haven't had to do it in a while, so please excuse any missing steps in the procedure. It went something like this:

    1. crack the cover open, and install a jumper across the sensor that reports when the top is open.

    2. boot the system with a real PS game.

3 at the appropriate time, pop open the top, and swap in your copied game.

Done with the correct timing, the system reads the copy protection info from the real disk and then boots with the copy.

P.S. Who ever claimed that you won't be able to get recordable 80mm cds, you are way off base. The disks are available NOW, and are not much more expensive than regular sized blanks. The 80mm disks are also able to be recorded in many tray based cd recorders. They are mostly intended for use in your portable mp3 player, but I bet there will be another soon.

These cdrs can be used for ordinary data, but that wouldnt make sense, as you can get the same quality data cd for a 25% or lower pricetag. The cds produced in these recorders are just like regular cds, and should have no problems playing in any car, home, portable, or computer cd player.

I remember reading a web page a few years ago, written by a PI investigating Kurt Cobains death. He presented a pretty good case that Courtney had him killed because Mr. Cobain was about to file for divorce and was expected to get custody of their child. One of the most convincing parts of the theory was the "suicide" note, which appeared to be non-suicidal up to the end, where, curiously, the handwriting changed and the tone of the letter turned suicidal.

There was also the [suppressed, lost, destroyed] police report that explained how the body appeared to have been arranged very neatly, with the hair being recently(like after death) brushed and styled.

I printed the note out, and have it laying around somewhere. If you cant find it on google, I might be convinced to scan it and post it on the web somewhere.
