linux needs to stop answering, and start innovating;)
the masses seek bleeding edge. not last year's bleeding edge:(
don't get me wrong i love gentoo, and i was hoping linux could beat windows to the 3d desktop (see longhorn's specs re: d3d)
an opengl desktop (assuming linux) would be
1. FAST FAST FAST !!! WEEEE 2. pretty
and would win a lot of people over:)
also it would improve graphic driver support through neccesity, and with that comes a better foothold for the gaming industry, which is also another drawback for linux:/ like it or not.
MS has next to no ability to enforce copyright there; what makes them think they could enforce royalties?
This might even further increase the price gap between hardware internationally, causing us consumers to go for the cheaper alternatives which boosts the foreign economies.
parent's parent: I think the "My Computer Was Hacked" has the potential to become the "Twinkie Defense" of the 21st Century. On the other hand, it also has the potential to become the "Insanity Defense" of the 21st Century.
parent: Yes, I think we can all agree that saying "AOL" will be a "get out of jail free" card.
combination: saying "AOL" will be the new insanity defense;)
The BBC in my books has no more capability of creating links between phenomenon..
they say video games don't cause violence,
yet they say linux users caused the MyDoom virus?
linux guys are always saying freebsd is dead...
;)
yet they get all excited about some ancient kernel...
sounds a little hippocritcal to me...
Oh Canada!

Graphics cards that allow you to watch television on your monitor, by plugging a coax cable into the card.
i agree on all your points except this one.
i have one of these things, a good 30 bux, and i doubt i could find a tv with a better picture than my 21" monitor.
so to me, its not a flop at all.
Camera-phones -- Some people may love this invention. I think it's just plain silly.
:D
i thought this way up until a week ago.
standing on the peak of cypress (BC, canada), with the view of the lion heads, most of the lower mainland, and the sea.. surrounded by snow..
i looked at my cell phone--full reception. *shrugs*
and i thought to myself if only i had a camera fone to rub it in my friends faces who would currently be at work/school
this is a phat idea... :|

ISPs say unlimited access ...
;)
they never say anything about unlimited bandwidth..
and luckily 99% of the population just see the word unlimited and block out the access bit..
corrolation proves nothing.
ie:
murders occur while the earth is spinning.
therefore murders are caused by the earth's rotation.
OR
music piracy is high, so is profits from sales, therefore piracy causes profit?
yeah that proves it? *shrugs*
Are suggesting that DVDs migrate?
you'd think the regiononal encoding would stop that!
what are the legal implications in the event of malicious activities performed over such a open network.
:D
:(
ie:
- child porn downloading / trading ?
- will the riaa sue for all the mp3's downloaded ?
- an anonymous way to spam ?
- etc
unfortunatly a few bad apples always ruin the party for the rest of us.
what about europe?

the first decision bush makes that doesn't involve attacking another country?
nah! he prolly thinks the martians are after us.
then they wouldnt miss a few bux in paying some local geek to clean their system now would they?
According to this...
:|
now slashdot can be sued just like FatWallet, since it is providing the service allowing distrubution of the controversial list in question.
that's what the elves like to call: unicorn justice.

right ... cut the 1% highest users this month..
repeat process monthly..
until entire client user base consists of the elderly..
that way you only need a 56k backbone and no one will be the wiser cuz no one ever wants to use the connection and RISK being that 1% of high users.
all the revenue with none of the costs, voila.
... or your girlfriend for that matter...
what girlfriend?
*bitter*
right .. good for the environment...
with only 6800 batteries...???
last time i checked batteries aren't #1 on the environment's wish list...
