sad but true... they actually patented the changes made to the genome of certain crops.
in essence they're making mutated food. really disgusts me.
reminds me of 'This Other Eden' by Ben Elton, the whole world eats gm-food and everything tastes the same. when the main character sees a 'real' potato it looks disgusting but tastes great, and the carrots look like a willie great food joke).... but it all tastes sooooo good!
i receive sms spam from my bank... and the mobile division of the national telco (Proximus) actually sent out spam to her users... there was a lot of gripe about it and so it stopped
but now a new thing has arisen, SMS games, you send a message to a special number (eg 3220) and you're immedaitely subscribed to a daily question you can answer and wIN WIN (yeah right!)

i say we set www.riaa.com or www.mpaa.com as our homepage or at least visit a few times a day, just for laughs, they'll have to pay for banwidth, but it will not be used... (am i making any sense?) [blatant lie] no i'm not trying to invoke a regular, like every morning/afternoon/evening, slashdotting of the mp/ri-aa sites...[/blatant lie]
i don't want to tempt fate, and i know i'm a few hours behind on the discussion, but i get like maybe one spam a week or less on my hotmail account. not even 'bulk' mail as hotmail calls it... is it because hotmail is that effective or because my mailadres isnt appeasing enough for spammers?
what about 1U rack mounted servers, you culd hardly call them Big Boxes, its only when they team up that they can handle large loads.
i think most people think ftp/www/mail/etc when they think servers, me too
when i think mainframe/big boxes i think of VLS- Very Large Scale, analytic machines that do numbercrunching. not not to mention super computing
wether it's *nix/win/etc, you'll always need big hardware to do big things, so that speed increase will probably have more to do with hardware upgrade and code optimization than it has to with the replacement system being linux.
in touristy places like 'Salou' in Spain, they use 'proppers' to lure women into bars, giving them a free admission and a booz voucher; only women though, the guys go to the bar with the most women..
The Belgian eBay site for instance. most auctions orignate from within the country. Then again these site started up as independant sites but were bought, so they basically jsut carry the name.
I thikn MSN India is probably a much visited portal. Anyone in India have a word on this?
