I don't know where you're looking but All Sharp and Toshiba laptops I've see at Fry's (www.outpost.com) have nvidia geforce2go or whatever it's called chipsets in them.

Furthermore I've got an HP ze5300, and it's not REALLY a Radeon Mobility 9000, it's the IGP 340 set to 64 megs of video ram by default. And it's a *DOG* under XP. 60 fps max in Q3A and 10 at 10x7 in UT2K3.

Oh, and the IGP agpgart isn't finished, and there appear to be some other issues before having DRI support working regardless.

Joy is definitely not ATI ;p

P.S. says this from said laptop.

Nah, 810 has a shared memory model, actually more than decent enough to run Quake 3 Arena on (not at 60 fps or nothin, but more than enough to have some fun with friends) and I'm not positive of the max, but it supports at least 8 megs as the video framebuffer (at least 1024x768@32bpp)) Hope that helps :)

    Dude, that is so flamebait.

Go read the GPL, or hell, just read the GCC FAQ, I believe that covers it.

Code COMPILED with GCC is *NOT* required to be under the terms of the GPL, it is only required to abide by the terms of the libraries in question that it is linked again, libstdc++ and libc are both LGPL'd, which basically states your program may be licensed in whatever way you deem fit, however any changes you make to the LGPL'd libraries in question must be made availible for those who recieve a copy of the program/libraries. This is in no way intended to limit one's ability to use proprietary code as a frontend or backend to the library in question, it's simply meant to ensure that proprietary extensions don't get made to 'standardized libraries' and thus break compatibility with existing/future apps (of course sure breakages might occur anyway, but it prevents the microsoftian 'embrace and extend' philosophy).

I can attest to this statement on the educational side, I had a teacher for the Intro Linux Admin class who 'taught' the class how to install and administer linux using nothing but the redhat GUI and tools. In addition, he complained about having to configure a server stating 'Windows isn't this hard' at which point I tried to explain to him why, including the fact that a sysadmin who doesn't know his hardware won't be able to effectively deal with his software in order to take full advantage of the capabilities presented by it.

Thankfully a few other students in that class at least listened to me about learning the CLI in and out, but I just have to wonder how many could actually do anything useful were their cute little resource-hogging X-Window session to stop working for example because their Video card failed or they had to configure their X-Window setup by hand..

Food for thought, and I hope anyone doing hiring for Linux Sysadmins bothers to test them either on a non-standard distro, or without X, because I'd hate to have linux sysadmin stereotyped as a buncha incompetent gui-freaks in the future ;p

Furthermore, the worst cheating I've ever run into roleplaying was OL, because regardless of the rules, the GM can do whatever the hell they want anyhow and trying to argue rules with them will just get you kicked off.

So in conclusion, unless you're doing it for bragging rights or something, RPG systems are like windows.. they're pretty, and helpful for newbies/those without imaginations of their own, but they really just waste time and resources better spent on what you're doing :)
