I personally think this software has to overcome some big problems at the moment, but has a great potential for the future. I had it produce a kernel panic within 2 minutes after logging in. Also, it's way too slow to use more than an hour. Yet, after some more development, I think this will replace most of my Cygwin applications.
I set up windows to bridge the tun and eth device to make the linux vm connect to the local network. This runs perfectly!
I have a server of my own, hosting my personal site, some sites for family and for a few charity organisations. Total income for hosting: $0. If I would need to buy another domain like this, just to be able to send mail, my costs will triple.
I cannot afford this. Meaning I will have to close all sites.
.mail is NOT an option if it costs more than $5!!!
Personally, I think SPF is the best solution so far. It may not stop spam, but at least it stops forging headers, like the headers of 99,9% of spam in my inbox are.
I have contributed exactly 1 (one) line of code to the Apache webserver. I distributed this code under the GPL. How can anyone who is not the owner say MY line, which is still mine, is no longer GPL? The GPL strictly prohibits taking code to any other license...
Well... Actually, I didn't write apache code, but this was just an example. But there are hunderds of people who CAN say this.
Sorry, I do such damage to your computer. But my writer told me to DoS sco/microsoft. I'm not targetting your pc, but the website to nuke. I'm just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry.
Anyone can develop standards, but still it's the ISPs that can make it or break it. Big ISPs can push some standard, and force the whole internet to use SPF or be cut off.
It's a result of a malicious program "Trojan.Qhosts", which exploits a bug in internet explorer to get access to your pc. Then it alters your hosts file to stop your pc from accessing google.com.
Search google for that "Trojan.Qhosts". Ow, you can't. Okay, then try this link
The US is still the country of Echelon, CIA and bush...
I'm not so sure korea gives it's people any less privacy than the US or any other government on this planet gives it's people. With modern technology, anybody is watched.
Why do most companies spend lots of money on virus scanners, but not on mailer software. If a virus/worm hits just one user in a company before the scanner is updated, the whole company gets infected in no-time.
If companies would trade Outlook Express for another lesser known mail client, for instance The Bat, 99% of modern 'viruses' would have no chance.
Well, at least until it becomes main stream, and viruses are developed for this client's address book.
Why doesn't Patrick ever make sure all official mirrors have the newest ISO before getting his server slashdotted?:( If he just uses to 3 mirrors, his server load decreases by 75%.
Happily there are also a lot of unofficial mirrors. Now I only need to get a md5sum from an official mirror.
99% of the spam does not have a valid return- or from-address. The spammers that use invalid addresses cannot validate the email they send.
If that spam cannot reach you any more, it's 99% decrease of spam. I don't know any other solution that has such a good result.
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it."
I have several machines running 2.2.x. Simple routers, mail servers and stuff.
And they'll be running 2.2.x until a upgrade is really needed or a big security leak is found in the old kernel.
Wednesday I joked the BSA lit the fire...
Officials reported the fire may have actually been lighted. In 3 days, the university had 4 fires. 3 of them could be extinguised before any damage was done.
A 26-year old man has been arrested in the case.
It's the fastest university network in the netherlands, and it's running a lot of mirrors (debian mirrors and others). The most important thing: terabytes of warez.:)
(I believe it was the BSA lighting the fire:) )
Once you get out of jail, IPv6 will be the big standard, we'll all be running Linux 2.8 and microsoft may have taken over the world. Will you be to keep up with technology in jail, for example do some studies on a laptop?
Okay, cool. The bug in the side bar has been removed.:) Whenever you open the google sidebar, it won't open find.com (which redirects to apps5.oingo.com) any more.
Now I just wish Macromedia would release a FlashMX player for Linux.

This is a joke, right?

Best regards, the virus."
That's good news!

psst... DMCA is american.
We're talking about an australian ISP, not an american.

probably you can already... if you have a whole lot of knowledge of electronics. :)
I don't, but I think I can integrate this baby.
- Having your lights switched by the computer
- Your microwave starts making food when crond tells it to
- Log when people ring the doorbell
- Automatically switch off all lights when you press a master switch when leaving the house
I'll bookmark it. If the price ever decreases to less than $30 a piece, I'll consider to buy some."If it ain't broken, don't fix it." I have several machines running 2.2.x. If you guys told me this _before_ slashdotting ftp.slackware.com earlier today, I might have considered it. :)

Ants don't like hot water. Really hot I mean. Pour some water in the holes of the computer to kill them all.
Well... actually it CAN be faster. If the IDE controller is the bottleneck and your HDD's are really fast.
And I remember having heard that IDE cannot address devices simultaneously, while SCSI can. (I'm not sure about this one, I'm not a hardware guy)

Does this affect open source players? I'm not sure about this, but I read it somewhere a while ago:
Fraunhofer and Thomson wanted a fee for all encoders back then... but could not make oss developers to pay, cause code is considered speech.
Is this true? If so, there's always a way around this problem...
