    Easy enough to do with a userContent.css file in ~/.mozilla - (and yes, it works on Win32 as well). There are a few out there avaialable, just google for 'em. Works wonders.

    Which is why I send it back to them. Postage paid business reply? Right back in the box. Ads and such that come with my gas card bill, etc.? back in the envelope with my payment.

    Yeah, its not much, but at least I'm sending a little more $ to the USPS for the PP mail, and I'm having the sending company use their resources to dispose of the trash they shouldn't have sent me.

    Actually, there have been several lawsuits against various firearms manufacturers based on that same premise. And when the suits were filed, the NRA and others pointed out cars and drunk drivers, breweries/distileries, etc. But in this country, if you can find a lawyer willing to, you can sue just about anyone for anything.

    I was wondering... would this have application for wireless, either between a workgroup bridge (like the Ciso one) or a single pci/pcmcia card and an AP or mesh of APs? Seems like it could be better than WEP, especially if it was just as easy to implement on a small scale non-DNS based solution (hosts file, ssid, hard coded ip range, etc.)

    ... a few years ago. The original 1.x series (the original howto) for LFS actually went thru X, KDE/Gnome, sound, etc. Not sure when it changed to just the base system, or even why, but more docs is always a good thing. I did my LFS system with the 1.x series of docs, and stopped when I had a "working" system - defined as being able to play Quake2 online with 3d support and sound.

    And when I did Gentoo (1.2 release IIRC) I just built my own boot image with my own SMP kernel on it from the get go. Went back to Slack, but it is nice to learn that Gentoo now has SMP by default on the install.

    Actually, the 911 (originally 901 but someone had copyright on car names that are 3 digit numbers with a 0 in the middle) was designed by "Butzi" Porsche as the new blood to take over the old (1948 first production) 356 line.
    And Porsche design is completely separate from Porsche cars...

    that's like saying adding a COLD AIR INTAKE, changing the tires or adding a computer engine management system is wrong..

    Until you go to a SCCA race or some other organized event where such things are banned...

    But otherwise, yeah, I agree. Although I'm not one for overclocking myself...

    Yup, SMP just rocks, and can really extend workstation lifetime, which is why I built the system I did. My dual P2-450 machine is still going strong, and actually "feels" faster than the single 933 P3 I have on my desk at work (Slackware on both).

    I would be much more interested in a cheap way to stick a bot on the moon or on mars.

    Remember that the most costly part of a satellite launch happens before we get into what we would call space (as opposed to just really really high in the atmosphere). If this guy can build a better/cheaper/easier way to get into space, then its just a matter of patience, good aim, and a little luck.

    ... is that guy who gets wired out on caffinated beverages at the LAN party, and starts shouting at the top of his lungs for even the simplest things.

    On the other hand, talkin' smack is a great part of multiplayer games, especially FPSes like Quake*, etc.

    I also heard cars get a little horsepower boost from intake of highly humidified air?


    IANAM (I am not a mechanic), butI know that certain humidity/temperature conditions can affect engines and performace due to changing the way the gas burns, which affects optimal timing, which affects... etc. Some controller chips do the sensing and can adjust as needed (anti-knock sensors,02, etc), but some days with just the right conditions, it can make that little difference. That's part of the reason the Gatornationals drag races are so big - here in N. Florida this time of year we tend to have those perfect conditions more often. Check the NHRA speed records, and see where the big milestone 300mph run was at.

    Don't forget that you can always go back and re-file your taxes for previous years (for a couple of years i think)... my brother recently did that, and got quite a bit more back because all he had used previously was the simple 1040.

    Yah, I just "upgraded" from my Voodoo3 to a $50 GeForce2 card. Bought the V3 'cause at the time, 3dfx was the only company truly supporting 3d (Quake/Quake2, my only priorities at the time) in Linux. Upgraded not for performance but for ease of configuration and such in Linux.

    ... is open formats. If the Govn't decides that MS Word is their choice of word processors, so be it. But as a citizen of that Govn't, I should be able to use whatever software I want to view those documents - so either the .doc format needs to be open enough for OpenOffice.org to code to it, or the Govn't needs to use things like Rich Text or PDF files or whatever I can open using *my* choice of software.

    Same here. I'm still runnning a dual 450 at home, it "feels" as fast as the single 933 on my desk here at work, and I still don't see a point in upgrading. Especially since I have a very poor net connect, so my big reason for upgrading (games) is fairly moot.

    I found out a few years back that you can actually make a copy of a key if you have a decent quality Xerox of that key. Make copy, tape to cardboard, cut out, put it in a regular key cutting machine, and away you go.

    Why is it that with new versions (of just about anything, not necessarily just in this instance) do they remove old features and replace them? Wouldn't it be easier to leave the old code in and add the new code, and then have a user preference as to which input system to use?
