The computer can land the plane when you are about 80 feet off the ground and within a few feet left or right of the centerline on the runway, so I guess you can call that a computer assisted landing.
The same reason computers don't fly commuter flights is the same reason they don't do heart surgery. Sure, they might assist some of it, but when something unexpected comes up, humans are able to come up with more creative ways to solve problems.
So Verisign is selling what service if domain names aren't property of some sort?
Welcome to VeriSign,
Here you may purchase the domain www.snakeoil.com, but this domain name in reality is irrelevant and pointless, but it may work temporarily with name servers and the like. Or at least until we are caught selling fictious ownership of name lookup rights as decided by the supreme court.
MaximumPC would sell more mags if they didn't charge $8.50 or whatever per magazine on the rack. I saw one a month or two ago that was actually $10 bucks. Good magazine, too pricey at the news stand though.
Do we really need another device to create those pictures that constitute the "priceless" e-mail's received of a drunken someone hitting on their sister?
I don't know about the rest of you, but a motorized vehicle that keeps its balance and doesn't go all that fast makes it a prime candidate to haul my ass to and from the bar. I'd gladly pay for this. It beats the hell out of a DUI.
Of course, I'd be willing to bet DUI's will be handed out on these things also.
With the development of much smaller PC's, built in video out to TV on graphics cards, and USB controllers that are just like console ones, I think it's entirely possible for PC's to behave just as a console does. Albeit with the usual PC bugs, but the key thing with PC gaming is that it has a much greater ability to customize games.
Of course these ad's are ineffective. It's been that way since the invention of the banner ad, which is why most companies don't advertise with banners. Who wants to pay for ad space no one bothers with?
To make the ad successful it needs to be like a TV Commercial; Unavoidable, in your face and goes away after a time. Until that happens, pop ups, banners and all that other shit is going to be right next to useless. I may be mistaken, any pop up moguls can correct me if I am wrong.
And I thought EverQuest was a soul sucking endeavor that never ended. Now you can drain your bank account at the same time while you feed your online addiction.
Would be pretty cool if they were actually implemented. The RFID tags and GPS things seem to be the most promising. Inventory taking would be painless and hopefully lead to lower prices. Who knows though? Only time will tell. They just need to invent a car that can drive me home from the bar on autopilot and then I will be thoroughly happy.
Maybe the benchmarks aren't that impressive, but I don't think that's the point. Having a third major manufacturer step up to give ATI and N'Vidia some competition can only be a good thing, if indeed in the future SiS starts making some high end cards. Hopefully it will prevent the others from sitting on their laurels like 3Dfx seemed to do when it introduced the VooDoo 5's and they flopped.
Yup. I learned a while ago that the brand new cards will get outdated in 6 months anyways and the second generation cards will run everything fine for a third to half the price. You might not get the highest score on 3DMark, but that 200 you saved can go into your processor/hard disk/beer fund instead of the "Look at me, I have the fastest graphics PC around for 30 minutes" money pit.
I'm not saying people who buy the new cards are foolish, but it's an ongoing battle that gets expensive quickly. I guess beer should be left out of that equation also, since you only get to rent it.

Check your airplanes. Not all of them are fly-by-wire and none of them are taken off or landed by computer.

In future?
I, can, put, a, comma, wherever, I, wish, and, remain, grammatically, correct.
I figure all the shit would go where the bullshit goes.

If they invent this, I will die a happy man.

I see sharks becoming land creatures before squid do. And just on a personal level, I can respect a shark taking my place before I can a squid.

I think Carlin has it right.

I would take one in a second. AMD or Intel wouldn't make a lick of difference to me.

Now if they can just figure out how to clone stem cells, everything will be great.

I think people would spit on me if I ran around naked, but it should have the same effect. ~S
I'll just be able to give myself a coating and not worry about bathing for a year.
