  17. these lan camers suck for security... on LAN Camera Review · · Score: 3, Interesting

Best of these lan cameras isn't amongst those tested, i've seen an popup ad of a Spy Cam 2 or whatever it's name was atleast dozens of times.
That lan camera is smaller than any of those plus you can remotely turn it to watch some other place, although it's also too big for security usage, i prefer very small, perhaps even poor image quality but if it cannot be seen it's much better because the burglar or someone cannot avoid being caught by it if s/he doesn't see it.

Also you can get from normal/security cameras a video feed to you'r comp also with right kind of hardware.
Just use something like Dazzle or attach it to you'r tv-in's camera port, also if you are skilled in electronics you can make an 'multiplexer' to multiplex many video feeds and attach it to you'r tv-in port and just change 'channel' to see another camera =)

These has something good also in them, cause they are lan cameras they are a way to better way, because they most likely doesn't care what os you use to configure it (by telnet prompt or serial cable, who cares?). I personally wish to see a lot more devices attached to lan, thus making it easier for many people to use simultaneously, no need for drivers etc... etc..

and more negative critic about these: why don't you just use some small normal webcam with very long cable instead of these, cheaper and smaller, i have Quickcam VC and it's a lot smaller than my fist, thus making it easier to hide if needed, although that webcamera is shaped as ball so it's a bit harder to make without ssomething to put it stand on or to attach to point right direction and stay that way, also it has a place where you can but a bolt to attach it...

Also, if you don't care to disassemble it you can make it 50% smaller taking the casing away, if you plan to put it outside you can use some plastic or something to protect it from rain then, you would need to do that anyways cos it hasn't been designed to be water proof....

There is a lot to do before these lan cams are something else than pretty toys...

oh yeah, forgot nearly to tell but i allready knew everything they could teach me about computers, what i didn't know allready wasn't related in anyway to the study, career of my choice, no oway at all, i understand that of course they have sports, language classes etc... but using a welding torch, i didn't know we still need to weld when repairing computers.
they even kept soldering classes and thenn i saw that these people who was at our class couldn't all even solder properly, to one i showed just about 10 times how to solder and he couldn't get it right...
then my second year began and i started at a special group there, ment for those who want to go thru all courses as fast as possible or those who simply couldn't keep in the schedule, there i started to go thru courses i didn't bother last year to attend as fast possible, well couple weeks went and that time i had nearly only mathematics, yeah that sucks, mathematics from morning to evening, day after day. at the time we were solving couple problems with allready passed courses, they had a little mistake and two courses had same name on the list, well finally my teacher came and said to me 'ok, we had to fix everyones record on your last class, but only in your record was a mistake, we had to remove 6 learning weeks from you' i replied 'how come everyone elses needed fixing also if they didn't have a error here? is this because i do not agree everything about this school? is it because school got it's money allready for me being here coupel days? or is it because i know allready everything i will need when i get out of here?' they didn't ever reply back nothing, just some bs...

education needs to be modernized and this could be the place, traditional schools cannot keep up because of the high information flow, it would be much simplier and easier if everyone could just study what they will need in their career.
Like GigsVT said, it's same do you read documents online or listen somebody talking about it at a class, it's exactly same information, in the class and as a document in the internet, only the method the studier stumbles upon it is different.
