Apparently the help desks for other offices are totally swamped. So the head IT guy asks me if switching has affected malware infection rate, so I told him the same thing I mentioned above. The room was totally silent; these guys were shocked
Maybe I'm just a naive grad student.... but HOW are these people being hired as IT guys? Equations like "IE + ActiveX = Spyware!!LOL!!11" should not be a news flash to anyone working in an IT department.
One of the things that has kept me from trying a BSD on my desktop is the fact that I have a RADEON 9600 card. Linux driver support is barely there, and ATI's driver page doesn't even acknowledge the BSDs.
What could I expect in terms of driver support on NetBSD?
>> but now they are trying to get to the money market of 25-35 yo people (the PS2 market).
I'd target Halo as being far more for the 25-35 market than the ridiculous Japanese RPGs that are often quoted as the PS2's biggest "advantage" over the Xbox.
Don't know about legal, but if you pay for cable/satellite TV, as far as I'm concerned, you're in the moral clear in downloading episodes you've missed of shows you watch (provided you do indeed have the channels those shows are broadcast on as part of your paid package).
I have a TiVO, so I don't "miss" much, but sometimes a show like Lost comes along, where I don't hear about it until after it's underway. Downloading the file over Bittorrent is the same as watching a videotape my buddy made. As long as the person "copying" actually receives the channel it's shown on.
I'm sure the legal mumbo jumbo doesn't make that distinction, of course.
Everyone is modding and posting about this being a "troll", and that's not how to respond to this.
This is a misunderstanding of the GPL - and there are TONS of misunderstandings of the GPL out there. The answer isn't to mod it out of sight. Instead, correct it. And let it stay visible so other people who have misunderstandings of the GPL can see it and learn something.
Don't just blindly mod down anything that says something bad/incorrect about the GPL. Correct it, and let people see the post and the factual corrections. Even if it is a troll, people can benefit from seeing this misconception shot down.
Just because YOUR concept of music doesn't go beyond your little RIAA world, doesn't mean that nobody else's does. And just because you can't figure out how to use the MP3 format for anything other than pirating music, doesn't mean that no one else can.
And bad prog too. Salem Hill? The Red Masque? Ouch.
At least you can call him and yell, "hey, fuck you!"

Indeed. I guess this guy's mother was an astronaut too.
Yeah, there was some serious Coca-Cola envy going on there. p.

Florida's old people don't see too well, and aren't sure what color the marble they're holding is.
Seriously though, what about the 300 MHz P2? Or 400 for that matter? Were they both canned earlier? Intel hatin' on 100 MHz FSB P2s?
This memo doesn't do anything to change the LAWSUIT that is prompting these reactionary measures.
Don't call off the dogs. Keep the lawsuit pressing. The heat has yet to be totally turned up, and cracks in the armor are already showing.
For some people, it is. For others, the theatrical cuts are what they want, nothing more.
That is why both exist.
The reason theatrical versions are cut down as they are is because 3 hours is about all of the movie watching some people can tolerate.
More isn't better for everyone. The EE's of the movies were known about well ahead of time.
Anyone complaining about buying the movies more than once needs to learn to stop blaming others for their lack of self-control.

Online play made SOCOM outsell the vast majority of other PS2 games. It's as "mainstream" as any other game.
Is Soul Calibur not mainstream? It sold less than SOCOM. Fighting games must not be mainstream.
Guess you've never bothered to look at SOCOM's sales figures.
Yep. They set all that money loose.
Comic books were "the devil", went through legal hassle, and eventually became accepted culture.
TV shows were "the devil", went through legal hassle, and eventually became accepted culture.
Heavy metal was "the devil", went through legal hassle, and eventually became accepted culture.
Video games are "the devil", going through legal hassle, and becoming part of accepted culture.
In light of this, I submit that the next big mind-warping fad needs to be "public sex with minors".

Now I understand what's wrong with their football team.

Oh boy, the old "You can't criticize IE's thousands of holes, because your browser has had almost ten!" argument.
