    porn != sex. There is sex in porn but the sex is not the purpose of porn. The purpose of porn is pure self gratification, both mentally and physically. the purpose of marrage bed sex is mutual gratification. Sex in the marrage bed is pure, sex in pornography is filthy but appealing to the sinful nature in all men.

    Kids should be taught about sex, and at a young age but pornography does not teach a healthy attitude twords sex. So I guess you think that if a kids (lets say 10yo) parents have sex the state should not be able to require that only people over 17 be allowed into strip joints...

    It's my job as a parent to determine what I want my kids to see on the computer. It's not the government's job to make a list of what's not OK for my kids to look at.

    Then dont sign up for this voluntary service...

    Personally, I'd rather have my kids see Bob Goatse in all his glory than have them stumble across this poisonous filth accidentially. Somehow I doubt the things I think are offensive will find their way on to the list.

    One flaw with our system of government is that politicians are not punished for intentionally passing legislation they know to be unconstitutional.

    how is this any more unconstitutioanl than the rating system on movies?

    wow what a bitter little man you are. This bill does not restricts anyones right to access material on line, infact by default it changes nothing. You have to opt onto the list. I dont know that I agree with the law but it is a law that requires the parent to act.

    as for the stuind f'ing across the hall at night comment there is a difference between porn and what goes on in a bed between two married people. The actuall needs of the woman are addressed for one, she is not some shell for a mans or womans entertainment.

    Not until they're 17-18. By this time, it's way too late. You might get a few to change their minds at that time, but most people don't base the decision for their major on what kinds of scholarships are available for them.

    by 17 or 18 they have been attending the same schoold and going to the same math classes as boys for 12 or more years. In none of those classes has a teacher told them, sorry sally youre not good enough. In fact up until late middle school Girls usually outperform boys in math and science. Its when puberty hits and the real difference between boys and girls become pronounced (high school) that things start to change. At this point they are already thinking college.

    I dont agree that states should be forced to allow fellons to vote. Now if a state wants to thats fine, but otherwise they should have the right not to.

    Yea all the scolerships, affermative action programs, things like the society of Women Engineers, and endless pumping into little girls they can do anything they want really discourages them.

    China is now much more an industrial polluter than the US. and in the next decade I would not be suprised to see it surpass the US in world resource usage...

    This treaty is a joke, until it requires India and China to sign on (in the next century two of the most industrial nations) it is meaningless..

    Ahh so then anytime someone steals property its a call to assume they are using drugs and thus we should make them legal... I got a great idea we can also assume when anyone farts it means that they really want drugs and if we want to keep methane levels on the planet down we should legalize hard drugs, after all the average person farts en times a day...

    They are not socialist, they are communist. State ownership of private industry is far lower in sweeden than in either North Korea or China. All those chinese 'firms' the west does business with are ususally branches of the Chinese governemnt.

    You really think the 'Christian Right' gives a darn about hubble? Seriously you think in my prayers at night I pray for "blessings on my house, peace in my heart, wisdom, oh yea and bring down that magical scientific deamon hubble!". Newsflash hubble was built under Regan (evil Republican) and launched under Bush (evil Republican) and many Christians (such as myself) Marvel at the parts of Gods creation we see though it.

    Why does the parents need to give up their rights as parents to the gov just because some couple have kids for tax breaks?

    You honestly think anyone has kids for the tax break? wow what ill formed world view you have. The child tax credit is less than 1000$ per kid (it will be 1000$ per kid in 2010). Do you really think it cost less than 1000$ a year to feed, cloth, and care for a kid? Hell my wife and I have not even had our kid yet (she is due in may) and we have spent that.

    Why should all parents be screwed by the ones that have kids, not prepared for them

    The whole planned an prepared thing is a joke, nobody is every really prepared for a kid, it just does not happen. People might be ready to care for a kid but no, youre never prepared. My mother had seven kids and each one (except for one, she whont tell us who) was a suprise and something they did not think they were ready for.

    thump the Bible at the rest of us, and demand stupid laws like this?

    Also bear in mind this is DC the city, not the nation. Washington DC is overwelmingly liberal democrat (something like 90%). But of course youll use this as a chance to bash 'bible-thumpers' as you often do. This is the one area where the very far secular left and the far right meet... Keep blaming bible-thumbers though its sure to get you karma points here..

    Yea there is a huge market for my old p150, lets burden PC makers by forcing them into a completely different inductsy (refurbished computers) than the one they are in. Its not like there would be a huge investment in new operational space, staff, and overhead associated. I go a good idea lets make GM buy back old cars fix them and sell them as used....
