And exactly why should i get excited about all those new features? If i wanted a bloated browser like that i'd use Mozilla, its free. Opera needs to take a look at what Mozilla is doing, and forget about a mail, irc, etc client inside their browser, we dont need it.

Of course, what he doesn't say is that this is because Apple has been investing in R&D. I don't want to get too far off the point, but it seems most Wall Street analysts and mainstream pundits and journalists don't get that the iPod rocks because Apple spent a boatload of money developing it. The best part about this post was going to the lawyers' website and seeing that they also sued Aiwa for their crappy mini systems. I owned 3 of them and every cd player on them broke. To this day when i see one at someone elses house, i ask them if their cd player works. And they say, "no..."...
Glad to see that someone went after them for that.

GameSpy products are supposed to be about having fun, but hacks and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks take the fun out of it. It doesn't simply hurt GameSpy; it hurts every person playing games with our products.
What this person did was more than reverse engineer two of our products, RogerWilco and GameSpy3D-he was describing our backend services and publishing Cdkey generation information without letting us know. At first we welcomed his bug alerts. We responded to him immediately and thanked him for his bug research, as we do with everyone who contacts us with bug information. We even sent him a thank you letter, which we have on file.
But then we found out he was also publishing how to brute force our RogerWilco Cdkeys and had published hacks on other game Cdkeys as well. He was doing more than reporting bugs; he was publishing game pirating techniques. He published how to attack our network. This is not the way ethical security researchers operate. It was at this point that we stopped our communication with him and asked him to remove the materials in question.
When we were first contacted, this person was associated with a small software security company. They asked if GameSpy wanted to pay a "consulting fee" to fix the hacks. However, these were not bugs; it was information about how our products work. When we brought this to the software security company's attention, they disavowed their relationship with that person and removed him from their servers.
Let me repeat-we welcome any bug alerts and will fix any and all security breaches that come to our attention. We find and fix nearly all of them before any external sources find them. It's all about playing games and having fun, people! That's why we do what we do! However, we won't pay "consulting fees" to people who create Cdkey hacks of our proprietary software, then post the results if we don't pay them.
Gamers trust us. We have to protect them from any and all attacks on our network that affects gamers.

Ok, so he has a list of reasons why the iPod isn't the best. But instead of showing us a product that DOES beat all of the iPod's shortcomings, he shows us a different device for each of them. I dont know about you, but i don't have the money to have a different device for battery life, line in, jogging, or WMA.

WOO HOO for mPlayer. I remember back in the day trying to get that mutha to compile. It was a pain in the neck. But once i did it, i had VIDEO ON LINUX!!! WOW.
Now it is used all over as underpinnings for other apps. Its projects like these that are so great. This is where i feel opensource shines. Instead of doing a lot of work yourself, take a project that is established and working, and extend it.
Xbox media player and now Xbox media Center both use mPlayer. By using the source that was available to them, it increased time to live so to speak. It works great and supports TONS of formats.
Why reinvent the wheel. Especially in video players and html renderers (KHTML, MOZ).......
The Nomad might have something going as far as storage goes. But it doesn't navigate nearly or integrate nearly as nice as an iPod. Of course if you are talking iPod on windows vs Nomad on windows then it might be a different story. But NOTHING is nicer than a syncing iPod on a mac with iTunes. Whether i am at my comptuer or on the go, or in my car, my tracks are being incremented and i can rate them on the road and then just sync that when i get home, and use all of that data in a smart dynamic playlist. Its very very nice.
Point 2: I don't think i would give $10 much less $400 to Creative. They have the worst support known to man for their products. They took 1 1/2 years just to release drivers for their SBLive cards on win 2k. And I'm sure everyone else here is familiar with their support of their own products.
They kind of just PUT stuff out in the public domain and then just let it sit.
yes, they do. USB printer sharing is enabled with Rendezvous. There isn't a single thing to set up. In fact when going to print on my iBook, the shared printer was already there. I did absolutely nothing to set it up. Its very convenient, andone of my favorite technologies in 10.2. I'm really looking forward to the different ways devs use this.
haaa!! i've been telling my friends that i'm gonna do this for 4 years. Kinda funny that its reported on by slashdot, there are tons of people that have done this? has this been posted just cause he is selling it? If so, hmmmm.
as an aside, did cmdrtaco make that cabinet or is he hosting it for someone else? If you made it, props to ya, i think its the coolest project out there, and not too expensive, or hard to do. And the reward is great!
