I am still looking for a way to wipe my machine fully so that noone call pull data revovery and pull my old info off of there. I am no perv or hacker.. but i definatly belive that I have a right to privacy.
I read the article and as I stated earlier, it is still the fault of bad parenting.. There are systems in place.. the plantiff's should sue the the parents for bient idiots and not the software company. If they want to sue someone then the shold sue the parents for making the gun accessible and for providing the childrens with means, motive to cmmit the crime. I belive in the US that's called Criminal Facillitation. (it's against the law) so yes I RTFA .
Che
I find this lawsuit to be at best passing blame from bad parenting to the games themselves. Inb the US i went to wall mart(ok it was closer than Best Buy) and I had to show my ID before I purchase GTA III. So it's the parents fault for letting thier children play an adult rated game. And that is the Lawyers argument that kids blur the line between fantasy and reality, then it the parents who should define that line.
I think my point was missed the "intellectual property" is free over the airwaves, but if it is bught and shared with friends then its illeagel, they claim it cuts down cd sales. Well I guess the radio does as well.
How many tapes/cd's have you gotten from a friend? Tha't copyright infringement.
Grow up an read the post, and think about it before you reply.
Let's see most of the dtractors claim that it soes not matter that the subject thought it was legal because she was using a service. So does that mean the MPAA cam come after me for recording movies off of my premuim cable service? umm no!!! can the RIAA come after me for recording a song off the Radio?? umm NO!!!! so what make s it legal to sue soeone who shares a file? the radio companies don't pay for the music they play. They are asked to broadcast it to boost a bands popularity...
Obviously oyuu have fortgotten Lars Ulrich and his campaign to shut down napster.. For many of the top Musicians its all about the Benjamins. never misnd the cost of the cd printing has gone down , and the price of the cd has gone up!. They still belive they are bienge cheated.. If bands were really smart they would start there own sites and charge for D/L per song. But all that "Intellectual Property" still belongs to the record labels.
How our country has changed... No longer is the will of the people bieng represented, but that of the allmighty dollar! Our legislators are in the pockests of corporations and bow to thier bidding, but this has been the case to a certian extent allways. But now Coproate Imperialism has run rampant, they use "our" elected officials (because the RIAA does not vote) to Further thier own agenda. Now they seek perscute the people in the most facist of ways, how long untill they knock on your door and come goose-steeping in to sieze your systems? Does not anyone see they have usurped power only give to police and law enforcement??
Today is a sad day fo america when our economy in in the shite, jobs are down, IT workers are out, and the Recording industry bought the power of our congress. Is there no one willing to stand up to them? I weep for the common man who knows no better
Yes and the Aztecs Predicted tha day and time that thier god would come back wearing a black cloak. Unfortunately someone did come back on that day and time witha black cloak his neam was "Hernand Cortez". Funny how thos pre columbian mexicans were able to predict all sorts of things.
The funny thing about the poll is that most of the uneducated feel that it is the virus writer who is the biggest threat. While I agree to that to a certain degree, one cannot not exploit a flawed system. If Microsoft made a decent operating system withough gaping security holes then the virus would have had limited capability. Also If scanning software did not pick it up the they share a bit of blame themselves. And anyon ignorant enough to ignore news, thier IT support staff( of which I am one) then it is primarily thier fault. The thing is we shgould pay the kid for exposing a major flaw in the OS that could be exploited by anyone and since many government agencies run on Windows systems that is extremely dangerous. Say what you want, The kid did people a favour by exposing microsoft for what it is a flawed system, designed to be that way for monetary gain.

With the advent of synth diamonds, it could be that the appeal of the rogue african militia's and paramilitary orginazationns would be out of thier gun and weapon money. For without thier precious "RARE" stones to sell then we sould very well see the atrocities of African nations subside a bit. No need for extra cost to verify diamonds, and no more blood. At least thats' what we can hope for. I do wonder what new advertisement campaign Debeers will come out with... "If the love is for real the the Diamonds will be"?!? nmaybe?
How long until our constitution is ignored alltoegther in the name of "cyber terrorism". And what they did is legally entrapment. The more I read in the news the more it scares me that the greates nation on earth is turning into a corporate nation. Rampant abuses of rights should scare us not make us feel safe.
you mean it's not like that already?? Wait a minute then why is it that alkl this legislatin bieng introduced is by Politikos with ties to the film industry???
WAKE UP PEOPLE... Law and justice is for sale and we are to poor to buy in!
Exactly when our rights as consumers and individuals are threatened we must speak up and fight for them.. I wrote many emails and letters to my reps but my lone voice will not be heard. See the thing is that people are not being tols the FACTS the are bieng told the the "good fact" its kinda true but not the whole truth.
*I will stop my Revolutinary Rhetoric now*
Greed they say is good, it makes us strive for more than what we have. In this case excessive greed is disgusting, this has more to do with control than money, how long untill you are force fed the "good fact" instead of the truth? *sorry off topic*

Witht he advent of sony's new plan to report the number of times any given media is played or recorded this seems like the next step in the process. The real problem is by the time that nay show/movie has reached television it has earned 97% of it's revenue. What more can they hope to gain. Anything i record off of television has already been paid for by my subscription to Cable or network tv I either pay for one or put up with advertisement for another they have my money already. THIS MY FRIENDS IS IMPERIALISM RUN RAMPANT!!!! We must do something, I don't know what but something. Any suggestions?
Che
So using legislation created by the industry, they are hiding behind said DMCA in order to do what would otherwise be illeagal. I am sorry but writing a program that sits on a persons machine for the purposes of sending them information constitues hacking does it not? So we are letting a Japanese imperialist say to hell with your constitution! No! I say NO! it is time for the Revolution to begin!
We cannot out vote them
We cannot out spend them
We CAN bankrupt them
Consumer disobediance time, we should implement boycotts and other strategy such as set automated copies to disrupt thier systems. I am tired of Corporate Imperialism runnign rampant
Viva La Revolucion!

I wonder if they will have a problem with the perfect digital conversion to Imax format. I mean they have a problem with everything else (digital TV).
But i really want to see Akira or the who LoTR on Imax along with plenty of others people have named. I think it's great,
People's nember one insecurities, is there nothing lower? Oh I forgot spam! Perhaps the problem is that so many people to dupe and so many loopholes. Sharing of adresses for entertainment purposes, yeah their entertainment no doubt topurchase dates. but i digress, anyway while i do not advocate cyberterrorism, i think that perhaps they founders need to have many crushes on them? It is by those full email boxes that they might actually get a clue.
I wonder why he did not mention the cost of stamping a cd is less that.50 per cd. Which gives them plenty of profit especiallyof a multi platnium album. We see the kind of deciet in corporate america, why should the record industry be any different they are hiding thier real costs and expenses as well. People of the world we are getting shafted, they will not stop until we are bleeding money out of every orafice.
Che
Actually by the time that a movie reaches cable TV it has earned about 95% of the revenue it will earn. So your argument rally does not apply. Point is that
A. Tivo type units don't have that much storage and piping them to DVD or CD burners is a pain
B. it is the same stupid argument we saw over VCR's.
The Corp's are using thier influence to bend the consumer over more and more. I don't begrudge anyone a profit, but it is going to far.
It seems that once you remove the hand of the record label's from artist's ass they have a completely different opinion of file sharing. I am guilty of having gigs of music, I am also guilty of having a large collection of CD's. Pity Lars was not intelligent enough to realize the person robbing him was they same person saying thy were protecting him.
As Far as exposure they are dead on! Between free downloads and independant webcasting less know artists are doing great. I did an experiment i listened to my local alternative/metal/rock station for one week and heard i think one NEW band. I heard plenty of the same old shit.. I mean come on how its been how long since pearljam released black? I was listening to Megarock one day and discovered 7 bands i never heard of. 7 in one day. Artist are getting screwed not by us who DL music but by thier own Labels.
It is now up to the artist and the Cnsumer/Fan to stand up to the corporate congressman and say no... not anymore we have a better way.
Megarock teams up with amazon to offer a chance to buy the CD if you like to hear the song. you can further sample it on amaazon to make sure you really want the CD.

It seems that many people are willing to give up freedome for the illusion of safety or the illusion of convienence. Most Europeans slam American's because of our obsession with convienance (i.e. fast food, convience stores etc.) but thier biggest argument in favour of these national id is ease of use. And when peopl point out how scary or opressive that system is, they feel a need to defend it... once you give up somthing you will find you may not take it back. Poeple time to stand up and say NO. You will not take that which our fathers have died for, we will not let you brand us and do what you will.
Here in the states we have the idea that the government works for us, and that freedom is purchased fromthe blood of Tyrants and opressive regimes. Time and time again have we seen this type of Branding go badly wrong. Never again!
Che
Excuse me but you are wrong. You can make a copy of a birth certificate but in order for it to be legal and used for the purposes of ID or to obtain ID it must be notarized buy the county court in the county you were born in. At least that is the way it workd here in Texas. Again for our goverment to require us to be tagged with a universal ID that all local state fedaral agencies have acess and input to is not a secure system! to many hands to go through, to many chances for abuse.
Che
I agree with this sentiment, I do remmember that one other nation did that in this century Germany in the late 30's and 40's. The possibilities for some low level gov. functionary to completely screw your life exists, as well as them abusing the system. This is a totalitarian act of repression and denying us our rights to privacy that we have come to enjoy in this country. No act is worth holding a nations citizens hostage, no act is worth taking away our basic freedoms.

Quicken, works really well. it allows for bill payment online and interfaces really wellwith MS office Suite.. Oh and go to Office 2003
