Java maybe a clean language, but if you work for a company that wants an application in any reasonable period of time, Java might not be your answer. I've seen so many contractors milk Java and when they show you the code, its bloated and convoluted. There is a right language for the right job -- if you have a handful of users, why use Java? Coldfusion runs on just about any platform and examples like Benorama.com show that if you want to have MVC with traditional model 1 languages its possible. For a little over a thousand bucks (which most companies can pay for) you can have a server like CFMX that is easy and can handle most siteloads. Java is such a lovely idea until you are bogged down for a deadline and you have to google up exception errors trying to figure out why your JavaMail hangs.

I think people forget in this whole argument how communities, neighborhoods, cities, and states are affected when jobs are moved overseas. There is a demoralizing effect that we've seen in this country for the last 30 years. American companies have an obligation to be socially conscious about their country and to keep jobs here. Its all the circle of life and by going overseas just to say to Wall Street that earnings are up 50% is criminal. The bottom line is killing us.

I just can't understand how you can seperate one from the other. Barr's record on being backward in Washington is very consistant. I picked Mary Jane as a great example, but there are plenty of others...

There are clearly two different definitions of freedom here. Why would you want someone fighting on your side with his record? How could he honestly think with clarity on these issues when he imposed his will on the vote in Washington DC? What is the difference between that and "feds to execute search warrantless searches and to convene secret grand juries..." It is an abuse of power and someone imposing their will on a group of people.

There is no world of difference. It is a fundamental flaw in thinking. When you realize that, you will start to see what is real.

  12. Bob Barr was against Medical Marijana in DC on Bob Barr Weighs In On Trusted Computing Group · · Score: 4, Interesting

I have a hard time believing Bob Barr is for civil liberties and people deciding their own laws- The people of Washington DC voted to use medical marijuana with a YES Vote and it was immediately blocked by Barr.

So, he is for civil liberties and freedom ONLY if you agree if its 'morally' acceptable. Does it really matter that it was Marijana? Regardless of Washington DC being a federal district, The whole point is the people have voted and decided on an issue and it was completely overruled by the Federal Government. The hypocrisy is amazing! How can you be worried about censorship, Patriot Act, and government abuses when you were the very person who prevented the people from governing themselves?

We need to wake up and see the whole story.

I'm an independent and I found Dean just as politically wrong as Bush. Unfortunately the 2 party system has let us down again with polorized views of the world. The politicans are going to force issues that have no effect on our daily lives... and how did we let Bush get all of this religion in government?

When Dean talks its completely nonsense. Just listen to what he is actually saying. Its meaningless.

If we work from Jan to May just to pay taxes, don't you think there should be enough money to run government??? None of the candidates want to talk specifics... they just say raise or lower taxes. Those words are meaningless!

Which brings up a point about drugs in general. They are drugs and as drugs they will influence your perception at some level. That's common sense at its finest. Yes, we have a responsibility to learn about how they effect the body- and if we choose to use them, understand what they will do to you.

Having 6-10 cups of coffee a day, eating penquin mints, drinking code red, getting kidney stones and severe stomach aches will probably tell you that is too much caffeine for your body to handle. Common sense again... regardless of age. If you are in pain, your body is telling you something. Stop and listen.

If you smoke 3 packs a day and can't breath, sleep, or get it up, you probably should cut back.

Believe it or not, there are folks out there who use drugs moderately. They enjoy a few beers, have a cup of coffee, a smoke, and it isn't taken to the extreme. Its a freedom, and we are slowly loosing that right to choose what we want to do.

This is the lesson we should be teaching... Open our eyes, listen, and question everything.
