Not to mention that Retrozone (whom they got the USB kit from in the article) already sells USB console joysticks (I bought the NES Fourscore from them, it rocks:)
Why do you keep saying "iTunes had X first"? While it may be true, who gives a damn? Nowhere in the article does the author claim Microsoft came up with these ideas, nor does he imply such. While I wouldn't react to the new features as the author did, I am still glad that Microsoft is at least trying to catch up. You criticize the article by pointing out that the author is blatantly pro-Microsoft (and I agree), but why should he get "-1 Microsoft Leg Humper" when you could just as easily get "-1 I'll Have iTunes' Babies". It goes both ways.
Are the data transmissions are encrypted in any way?
Yes they are, in two ways.
1) Frequency hopping. The channel sequence is computed by using both the Bluetooth device address and its clock. Bluetooth devices change channels about 1600 times per second, with 79 channels to choose from.
2) The algorithm for link encryption and authentication is called SAFER+. This generates 128-bit ciphers.
I had the opposite attitude. I fucked around all the time and got my Bachelor's with a 2.7 overall GPA (including having to retake 5 classes in my major). Yet my work experience landed me a decent job (about $40k a year) while my friends with "good grades" are still at home with their parents. I can't think of a specific argument against the grading system, but something has to be messed up somewhere.
Technology amazes me. Granted it's been a steady stream for years of constantly improving technology, but this device jolted my mind. To think a PC with these specs used to cost a couple grand.
Hmm... I guess I don't have a point. Oh, I know...but can it play Doom 3??!ONE roffle`~~... but seriously, this thing can play Doom 1...it's 1/3 of the way there.

I currently have the 4 port version with an official NES and official SNES controller hooked up. What more do you need?
ps - apparently there is a SNES USB adapter now, but it wasn't around when I got this. Check it out http://www.jandaman.com/games.mvc?p=snesusb&Catego ry_Code=PC
here it is. I say almost because I've removed any personal information pertaining to me. But yeah.

Comcast High-Speed Internet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) Violation - Bandwidth Usage Limitations
LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME ADDRESS ADDRESS PART 2
Dear LASTNAME,
As a subscriber to Comcast High-Speed Internet service, you have agreed to use the service according to Comcast's Subscriber Agreement (http://www.comcast.net/terms/subscriber.jsp), Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) (http://www.comcast.net/terms/use.jsp), and other terms of service and policies. According to our aggregate bandwidth usage records, during your Comcast High-Speed Internet account exceeded Comcast's bandwidth usage limitations. The activity associated with your account was more than 100 times the national median. This level of usage activity violates Comcast's AUP. Comcast values the business of all of our customers, and this policy was created and is enforced so that Comcast may continue providing a superior high-speed Internet experience for all of our customers and to maintain the integrity of our network.
If your account continues to exceed our bandwidth usage limitations for your service, this activity could result in the suspension and ultimately termination of your Comcast High-Speed Internet account.
Excessive bandwidth usage may be the result of many different activities. Activities that could contribute to exceeding bandwidth limitations may include, but are not limited to: * commercial or business applications, * peer-to-peer networking, * newsgroup downloading, * file sharing, * streaming music/videos and * voice and/or video services
If you are unaware of any activities such as those listed above on your Comcast account, we suggest that you speak with any other person who may have had access to your Comcast High-Speed Internet service. As the service account holder, you are responsible for any misuse of the service or violation of the AUP even if a friend, family member, or guest committed the misuse or violation by accessing your Comcast High-Speed Internet service.
To avoid future violations of the AUP for exceeding bandwidth limitations, we recommend that you immediately review and change your current Internet usage activities. Additionally, you may also want to update your anti-virus program or obtain one if you don't already have anti-virus software. Comcast also recommends that you install a firewall if you don't already have one to help control unauthorized access to, and use of, your service.
We hope that you take note of our recommendations and make Internet usage adjustments so that we may continue to provide you the very best high-speed Internet service available.
If you have any questions about this Notice, or would like to speak with a representative about subscribing to a Comcast commercial Internet service to support business use of the Internet, we encourage you to contact us at 877-557-5817.
Sincerely, The Comcast IP Network Abuse and Fraud Management Team
This is good news. I like the new exceptions dialog in the ICF. Maybe now programs that require port ranges instead of just one port will be automagically handled by Windows and not require 50 billion entries in the list.
Yes, I know, 65535 blah blah...50 billion makes my issues seem more important:D
Seanbaby.com - EGM's Crapstravaganza: The 20 Worst Games of All Time
He has a few of the same titles (ET, Superman 64, and Custer's revenge), and, in my opinion, has much funnier reviews. I really enjoyed it, this is just for if anybody else cares for a second list like this.
Pretty much correct, except for a minor nitpick. By looking at the Phase Diagram for Water and the Atmospheric Pressure on Europa (10^-6 Pa), you would only need to warm the ice to about 210 K, or -63C. That saves about half the work that you implied (but granted it'd still require some decent energy to accomplish).
Many console joysticks have been hacked to work on PCs, including NES. Look:

calculating leap years is a tad more complicated than just year % 4. You can make a pretty conditional statement to do it, like so:
sub IsLeapYear { my $year = shift; return $year % 4 ? 0 : $year % 100 ? 1 : $year % 400 ? 0 : 1; }
This example (in Perl of course) is taken from an O'Reilly Book

Of all the tests, only two were games. Yippee.
"Guys! Guys! Come look how well my card renders these scenes!"
"Neat! Can we play next?"
"Play?"
