    Then again, some people are actually that sensitive to terms. People will actually believe you meant it because there are such ass-monkeys in the world trying to make us use more sensitive, ineffective language so that no meaning can adequately be conveyed.
    If our language is fully cleansed of offensive language, a white man won't be able to tell a black friend to 'have a nice day' because that is a command, and completely inappropriate in a white/black context.

    Hey, they have that in Windows. Basically you NEED to treat the internet as a hostile zone. This would work for files which are md5 checked, but what about strange/obscure binaries? Is this really a good idea? Should be really have executable hyperlinks leading to application installs?

    My wife and I were turned down for food stamps early in our marriage because we needed 2 out of 3 criterion.
    Criterion ONE was income less than 20,000 for family of 3 or something like that. We met it. (sob).
    Criterion 2 was "membership in underrepresented minority race such as black or native american.

    Criterion 3 was hispanic nationality. Note that race and nationality are separate, and according to the state of New Mexico, any black person of hispanic nationality (think south america or the Caribbean) could get food stamps REGARDLESS OF INCOME.

    Maybe it's because these people are proposing it because they percieve the Internet as "not under control"? Maybe that's it. Maybe we feel so free here that we resent all others' attempts to regulate, restrict, control, or limit our access to the ideas of people much like yourself, who do not live here or share our experiences.
    Maybe we like our freedom (that you cynics don't believe exists) so much that we get worked up when some unelected career beaurocrat gets an idea in his head to tell us what to do with our brains.

    You see, the internet is really a network of MINDS. These computers allow us to share our thoughts, opinions, and feelings with each other. Also pictures of naked girls. But ultimately, this interweb thingy helps us to connect with YOU. To hear what YOU think, and maybe engage in dialogue. Funny how it works out that the US government, and its courts, have repeatedly ruled that I can say words that would get me beheaded in other countries. Funny how it works.
