Spin some more, paid Microsoft shill.

Boy do I wish. You're the one taking sides not me, I wish Sony and MS all the luck in the world. I own my console already, what do I care about price drops? I'm not buying another one.

But if you're interested go review Circuit City's sales records for the previous month where the 360 outsold the PS3. Using your logic Microsoft is doing better than Sony. Obviously any rational human would realize thats but a sliver of the over-all picture. You'd think even a doctor who can't spell cool could figure that out.

I think his point is, since reading a book or watching tv eliminates any physical activity, its really hard to argue why one is beneficial over the other. Either way you're spending time together, you're talking about what you read/saw and not only interacting but forming opinions and the ability to verbalize those opinions.

I get the impression that you're still stuck in the days of "TV is bad for you" which, in an era of media, is simply wrong. Sure you don't want your child sitting in front of the television all day but at the same time, I don't want my child sitting in a chair reading all day instead of going outside and being active. Moderation, and less elitism (ie, I'm better than you because I don't watch tv).

Am I missing something here? With the Wii, the PS3, and the PS2, made by Nintendo and Sony (and Sony) respectively how is it even possible that Microsoft is maintaining a Monopoly in the console gaming market. You do realize that Nintendo is outselling Microsoft in Japan right? Thats a pretty piss-poor monopoly.

I just wish I had mod points to mod you as a troll. If you'd like to carry on the "Microsoft is a monopoly" debate in an actual thread that it might be relevant, your post would be completely fine. In this thread, in the console gaming market, you post makes no sense and only points out your bias against Microsoft.

I find it interesting in your response that you only use the Government as your example. Do you agree that the same could be said for Google? Do you believe Google is worried about threats to their continuing operation by spying on old women in their apartments or cats peeking out from behind a set of blinds?

Or what level of "watching" do you define as illegal/unethical. What about any number of the satellite sites that I can zoom in to view a relatively detailed view of my property. Should I now begin to contemplate the overthrow of said company? Or even the fact that my satellite tv company sells my viewing habits to the highest bidder. Sure thats all right there in the contract when I sign up with them, but is that not also an necessary assumption formed from where you live? London for example, isn't it assumed you are most likely being videotaped if you are on a public street in London, and if thats the case whats the difference between that and the contract I signed with my satellite company?

Now lets go back to your Government example. I'm going to assume from the site you advertise that you're from the US. What if a Chinese satellite has begun some sort of wiretapping on your phones, with no possible way to persecute or in any other way punish you for your observed actions. Is the Chinese government's "ability to monitor" now a target? Is it the enraged citizens responsibility to teach China a lesson... and if so how is that even remotely possible?

What about little Billy Smith from down the street? Who you caught peeking in your bathroom window perhaps trying to catch a glimpse of your wife getting out of the shower. We have laws, in the US at least, peeping-tom laws, or again are you only considering privacy a concern when the US government (specifically this administration I'm guessing) becomes involved?

Its all fine and good to question authority, any good democracy should, but this is not a simple issue of the American Bush-run Government being the only entity keeping track of private citizens. And while your anti-administration attitudes are most definitely applicable to this issue, they are not the only aspect to it.

Well I disagree with the point about a movie being just as good in either format. If you take a movie I love, lets say Batman Begins, I'd much rather watch it on HD-DVD than regular DVD (be it upconverted or not).

That being said I agree with your original point. I bought the hd add-on for my 360 (got a good deal, so theres that). But now I'll be watching some regular DVD that isn't out in HD, and I'll just stare at my tv stand, with my $100 hd add-on and my 5 hd-dvds and wonder if all of that was really worth the $260 or whatever I paid.

I think watching a movie can be a family activity just as reading a book together can be. Obviously you don't want that to be your only family activity, and I think thats the point you were trying to make, that families should be 'active' together... but then you threw out that playing the Wii was a family activity and you lost everyone.

ANYTHING you do as a family is a family activity, though you could definitely argue that some are healthier than others. Like, a murder spree in the south is probably not going to go over as a Family Activity with many people. But I challenge those people to hack through a couple of femurs with an ax... you can work up quite a sweat let me tell you.

Try to take some time in the evening and talk with your family, or if you have young children, you could read to them. I mean if you're not reading books or enjoying a past time because you're thinking about the price of gas... you're thinking about the price of gas entirely too much.

And $80 a tank?!? Christ, first off maybe you should sell that SUV/Truck that you drive in the city. If its not that then its hard to complain about the cost of high-octane gasoline when you bought that imported sports car. The cost to fill it should've been obvious when you bought it.

But really, park the car in the garage and read a book or watch a movie some night. No money on gas to worry about, and you get a nice break and some time to yourself.

Also, light can be slowed down depending on what medium its passing through. And I would hazard a guess that the commonly used term "speed of light" or c, is based on the speed of a light photon in a vacuum, and that light here on earth would travel slower than c through the air.
