WLW, (I'm in Cincy, and used to live in the shadow of their funky looking Mason Ohio tower) was part of Jacor. It was one of the original true clear channel (700 AM) stations.
Randy Michaels ran Jacor until they later became Clear Channel communications, so the "clear channel" moniker actually did apply. 700 WLW was Jacor/Clear Channels AM Flagship station.
I was playing UT2K4 this morning, when my alarm on my intel board started beeping.
Before I could exit the game the alarm chirp had gone from beeping slowly to screaming at me, and I was presented with a zone2 temp of almost 180F, and 3 fan speed alarms. (30f above alarm status.. in 3 minutes)
Upon opening the case, there was no mystery as to why.
Our water heater gained "pining for the fjords" status last week, and being that it is right behind me, the carpet in here needed replacing after the new water heater was installed as the old one had cracked its tank, and dumped about 10 gallons of silty water into the carpet before I could purge it.
Apparently, when maint replaced the carpet in here they really threw things around. 3 of my fans were totally bound up with shed carpet fibers... and the intake shrouds were completely opaque.
2 of the fans were dead, but I absolutely needed to be online for an interview this afternoon.
I remembered that I had about 1.5 pounds of dry ice left in the super freezer from an impulse buy on Friday. (My grocery store now carries dry ice.. at $.28 per lb.!!!) I just *had* to buy some to show my daughter the neat stuff it could do.
I pulled the dead fans, moved the best working one to the top vent, and reversed it to intake, and sat the dry ice right in strips right over the vent hole!
Desk looked very cool for awhile, but man! I forgot how much that stuff stinks!
Compy stayed below 130F for 3 hours, interview was a success, and the new fans are now installed.

Yes... It is an excellent product. I have three of them. Use them, and promote them when advising my friends.
With ONE caveat.
Find a copy of Intellipoint 4.1, not the newer versions.
4.1 Still allowed program specific functioning, and allows me to seamlessly re-assign the outer buttons to whatever function or keystroke I choose. Makes photoshopping so much easier, and video watching (IE, change outer buttons to scan forward 30 sec etc) much easier when reclining with no keyboard handy.
In fact... Last month I had to drive a POS chevy lumina van to Raliegh. No CD player, but a tape deck. I used my laptop, a cassette adaptor, and my Intellimouse to make a rather nicely functional audio center.
Left outside was random on/off, (for when I wanted to hear the next track instead of whatever winamp decides passes for random these days) right outside was skip to next track, scroll button was 10 songs +.. wheel was search.. left click play, right click stop. used a velcro pad and attached it to the dash.. and it was very intuitive and made a hellish trip not quite so bad.
However, I don't know how old you are, but I am 32. I barely remember seeing the orginal Star Wars in the theaters. I remember thinking it was neat, and that the people around me were totally and completely awestruck.
It was a turning point in US Cinematography, as well as Science Fiction in general. Star Trek was still dead, Galactica was camp, and out of nowhere came this shining new well crafted "Space Opera".
It was truly a defining moment for the science fiction culture, as well as a generation of filmgoers. Then came Empire. Still good, not quite as fast paced, and obviously written with sequal in mind. It also introduced us to the notion that spoilers could get your ass beat in the lobby.
Jedi was the turning point. As many have said, it took something near and dear to many, and almost religious to some, and turned it into a marketing machine for action figures.
That hurt.
As time has passed, it has become clear that Mr Lucas does not understand (or understands all too well, but does not care) how important his creation was and is to many many people.
He has changed it, manipulated his fans, and slowly bled every penny he could, and with them every feeling that it is something more than just a film, from his fan base. He refuses to release the orginal 3 movies in their original formats on DVD. Do you realize that some people actually bought laserdisc players JUST to see that!
He took something we loved, and used it against us. He has proven that the $ is all he cares about. Thats why many people feel he is "sleazy and unscrupulous."
Last night someone posted a link to the orginal reviews. Included in the review for Return of The Jedi was this little gem:
Will George Lucas "go Hollywood" now that he's joined filmdom's elite? Not likely, the San Francisco-area resident indicates in a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine. When asked about the folks who run the film industry, Lucas replied, "They're rather sleazy, unscrupulous people. L.A. is where they make deals, do business in the classic corporate American Way, which is screw everybody and do whatever you can to make the biggest profit."
Because they are somewhat arboreal as well, you might do well to think of them as more squirrel like than rat like. Squirrels are mostly vegetarian, although they will certainly munch on the tasty grub or cicada here and there.
Not all rodents are omnivourus, not even most. Although I will back you up on the fact that certain rodents will eat cat5. One of our rehab squirrels had quite the taste for it. (and floppies, and just about anything that was under my desk)
Glad you never had kids and had to keep your insurance. Or worse, had to pay child support in a state like Ohio where you can be jailed for losing your job even if you are less than $500 behind.
"My favorite airlines is Singapore Airlines, United Emerates."
Singapore Airlines... rocks. period. Right down to the orchids in the bathrooms. (orchid fan)
Great service.. Incredible (in many ways) flight attendants, good food. It's like a mini vacation on the way to your destination.
Although, Alaskan was a blast to fly on.. Almost empty flight from Portland to LAX, and the flight attendants whipped squirtguns out of the drink carts and had a squirtgun fight during the flight. (I was used as a human shield, but.. well..it was worth it in the long run.)
I'll break protocol and tell you this. (Since it is automatic these days, and the requirements have changed)
Back when it was manual, I would go through accounts that others had described as being leechers. Sometimes 200 to 500 a night.
Now, different admins have different scales they use, and I liked it that way. I tended just to tackle the ones that were obvious offenders, and I would usually ban 100 or 200 leeching asshats per night.
If you were above.6, I would let you slide..6 to.4 was a warning, and flagged for review in 5 days..4 and below... it depended on your usage. If you had over 10GB down, you should know better, and I would ban your ass in a heartbeat.
The excuses are all the same...
But.. but... I've got shitty upload speeds... But.. but... I didn't know I had to leave it open that long... But.. but... My roommates were using all of our connection... But.. but... I *was* uploading, but no one would connect... But.. but... My ISP restricts my upload speed... But.. but... I could not leave torrents open because of my gf... But.. but... I have dsl and my IP address keeps changing... But.. but... I was sharing on other sites too... But.. but... I didn't know my client would automatically stop my upload when my d/l was done...
Screw em!
I have a shitty asynch connection, and I never dropped below a 4.* because I took the time to learn about the fundamentals before I started using torrents at all. I got Azureus, (I like BitLord better now) and set it up to run up to 2.0 on every torrent, and continue seeding if there were less than 3 other seeds. If not, drop it there.
I also capped my upload speed at 60% of what my connection could handle, (after trial and error) so that it did not make my connection almost unusable.
I think that is the biggest reason people do not seed after the dl is complete. They have their upload set *too* high, and suffer because of it, therefore they do not want to seed. If they took 10 minutes to find out what speed they could continue to comfortable share at, it would not affect them in that way.
Too many people came in with the Napster and Kazaa attitude of "get what I want, and go" not realizing that torrent was a completely different system. They either learn fast, (and I will teach them how to use it properly, if they want to learn) or they get banned.
I'm not all that active on torrent sites anymore, Big E included, because life has been really hectic, I'm learning new skills (goldsmithing and vet tech) and with the new system, not so much maintinence is required.
Most likely because of the intensified server load that results from account analysis, throttling, and "upload only" limiting to prevent leeching.
If you are running without that kind of tracking, sure, open it up and go hog wild. With it, you need to keep an eye on your capacity. It's a pretty big load.
That and the hardware is somewhat expensive.

Do you really think that if BPL were in operation today, it would be shut down in the US because of the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean?
Didn't think so. But that's *exactly* what would need to happen.

BPL (or BOPL) *is* in operation today. Right here, right now, in my city. Cinergy (Cincinnati) BOPL (Pops)
Now I admit I am not very active in the HAM community anymore, but from what I have heard it has not been much of an issue (yet) in the markets here that it is active in.
Can you imagine how much more that baby behind you is going to cry when it starts floating around?
Depends on the age I would think.
I'm not a psychologist, but I work with two, and they seem to think that up to about 18 months, the baby would be quite comfortable floating. After all, it was their natural enviroment for quite some time. (cognitive reasoning age/issues aside) They may very well be more distressed when the microgravity experience is over than when it starts.

Yeah, well... Thats what I thought. But when I double click on that first line.. I get the next tab. No convo history.
Could also be the fact that I had an issue not too long ago with tranferring the message logs from another machine. It's not that big of a deal to me. The Webcam thing is.
I've been running the Beta for about two weeks now, and I really do like it. I've been using Trillian itself for about 2 years.
Honestly, Trillian was one of the first programs that I've used that, well, I was using a cracked version of... and decided after about 28 hours of use that it was worth my money.
I am a happy paid user... 3.0 Really does seem to work better. The connection manager is MANY times improved. I can connect to all three of my yahoo accounts with no muss or fuss now.
I will admit the daily (or more often) updates with the beta have been somewhat annoying, but it shows that the Cerulean team really is working hard to address problems.
Still seems to have somewhat of a problem with deleting users from your list who are on MSN, but I can live with that.
So far... after beating the hell out of it, my only gripes are:
1) The default "user icon" display is set *way* too big for starters. A problem that is easily corrected by the user, but it certainly didn't make a very good first impression with me there.
2) The new "Chat History" window and browser is useless. With it I can see the first line of a conversation that I had with someone, but I can't seem to get any deeper than that. Granted, there may be something simple that I am missing, as I have been concentrating the most on my primary problem,, which is...
3) My webcam seems to be completely useless now. I've tried the updates, tried re-installing my quicktime drivers and codecs (Why God? Why Quicktime?) I've updated my cam software... and even went out and bought a NEW camera because the one I had was 5 years old. Still no good. I get a very nasty looking green and yellow window when I start my webcam, then the cam crashes. HARD.
In fact, Trillian will not release the camera until I shut the program completely down.
All that being said, the support staff at Cerulean have been very good at keep me abreast of updates and possible causes for the problem. I know I am not the only one with the webcam problem, but there seems to be little rhyme or reason for it.
Would I advise my friends to use it? Hell yes! I do that on a daily basis.
However, I am hoping that the news about 3.0 being released public is swallowed by the firefox wave.
Seems to me that everytime something good happens with Trillian, either Yahoo or MSN change things to break it.
(eep, after previewing I realized how rambling and poorly worded this post is, but its been the 48 hours from hell here, and I just don't have the energy to correct everything)
I wanted to mod you up, but I can't do that and post to the thread under my account.
I'm pretty sure I have ridden The Beast more than anyone should ever dream of. I was a "green sheet" (essentially operator qualified) on that ride for a couple years, and rode at *least* 5 times daily.
I've ridden coasters in just about every east coast park, and I honestly have to say that The Beast is the greatest wooden coaster there ever *will* be.
The reason for that is because, during the construction, the designers and builders kept adding things and lengthening it, and Kings Island (screw you, Paramount!) just kept throwing money at it. It was designed before everything had to be perfect on some computer before the first board was cut. If the final cost (before the 1990's rebuild of the entry and station) were on an invoice before construction actually started, it would NEVER have been greenlighted.
It was true "seat of your pants" design by the best in the business, with little or no limits on the money.
NOTHING... and I mean nothing measured up to riding riding The Beast before it was "semi-tamed" by additional trim brakes in the late 80's. If you rode it in the rain, when the trim brakes didn't work, you would get that full 74MPH whiplash speeds through the back corkscrew... and honestly think the train would derail.
The Beast has many many moods. Depending on the temperature, humidity, time of day... every ride is somewhat different. Sometimes smooth, sometimes boucing you all over. It is truly, IMHO, the best of the best in wooden coasters.
Son of Beast is an intense ride, and Cedar Point has many great coasters as well, but The Beast rules.

Nope, I do not have it in my possession as of yet. A friend of mine who just happens to be really good at finding things has it, and asked if I would be interested in it. Before I add something else to my immense collection of stuff, I figured I would determine if it would be something I *could* and *would* use.
Well, in essence, it *is* (errr.. was) a glorified cow pasture not too long ago.
Things got pretty bad in 99-00, but it *is* getting better.
I know what you mean about some of the main acts having the same performances, but there are a lot of new acts that have been added in the last 2 years, and streeting gigging is once again a priority.
Pricewise, I dunno what to tell you. I've been to faires that are not permanent sites, that charge a similar admission fee. The price is comparable with others in the midwest.
The grounds are *far* from the worst, and farther yet from the best, but hey, trees only grow so fast.
This is my 12th year here, and this is my home festival, so I suppose I am somewhat biased. But out of the 17 Faires I have been to, this one is mid range on price value.
Come back and give us a chance sometime. You can get discount tickets at Krogers now, so that is at least something.

Thats about the long and the short of it.
OT, no karma bonus.
.. was) a glorified cow pasture not too long ago.
Well, in essence, it *is* (errr
(Sorry for the OT, and back on topic, I *did* mention that I *am* aware of google search y'all. Not exactlty new at this intarweb thingy. I found a nice tutorial, even a java based virtual abacus to practice on. Looks like I might have a new hobby)
