Kerensky's provisional government was no elected by the Russian people, AFAIK. But I could be wrong. Was the Duma elected by the Russian people? I doubt that.
The US is not an empire, and has not been involved i the imperialism game since before WW 2.
Wrong. The US is very much an empire, it fills almost every criteria. But Americans in general tend to fail to recognise this, just like Mark Hertsgaard says in his excellent book The Eagle's Shadow: Why America fascinates and infuriates the World. A must read if you want to know the problems the rest of the world has with the US' policies abroad.
Good comment. However - I don't know much about NAFTA, but the EU is about more than just free trade. For instance, citizens of any member country are free to travel around the EU without much hassle at the borders. Also, EU is about freedom to work in the member country of your choice. AFAIK, there aren't many restrictions to work permits between EU countries, as opposed to the situation of Mexico and the US.
Of course you don't have or haven't had those African spotted hyenas in Siberia. Those giant hyenas, which the article refers to, did live there. Actually, there were hyenas in Europe, Africa, Asia and N-America during the Pleistocene epoch.
So, if you look past the 'a' and replace it with 'the' in my example, then..?
He made an initiative to make the Arpanet a public network, 'the' Internet. That's what he actually did, never mind his poor (and probably self-serving) choice of words when describing this.
Er, Bad Religion's Stranger Than Fiction was released in 1994.
Also, their latest effort, The Process of Belief, is IMHO a *very* solid album. Mr. Brett is back and BR is back at Epitaph, after that nearly-disastrous stint at Sony/Atlantic.
Or are they simply breeding something which looks like Smilodon? If they're starting with related species they should end up with something very similar.
Clouded leopard, anyone? Of all the modern cats, it has the longest canines in proportion to its body. If the can make a bulldog out of a wolflike creature, they could make a semi-Smilodon out of a clouded leopard.
what kills linux (for the newcomer) is the overabundance of choice!
Exactly. As a Linux newbie (and one who has talked with many trying to switch to Linux) I know this is a very real problem. All those programs overwhelm and create confusion in an insecure noobie, who wants to abandon the world of M$.
Also, a thing as simple as the naming of the programs makes life difficult for newbies. With software called KThis and KThat, how can you expect a newbie to find out which to use when they want to do a specific task? One thing must be admitted: Windows, despite its several shortcomings, is probably still easier for a computer newbie than a Linux desktop.
Those higher ups must be quite hard-working atheists - hard working as in working hard to know the rituals of islam, to know their Koran etc. Or maybe somebody is doing that job for them and is just telling them the most important parts they need to use frequently to look like true believers.
Or maybe they're just real fundamentalists. Which is probably the case.

...annexing these independent countries to the new empire (against their will, but that is what empires do).
Pretty much like the Empire of the U.S. of A.? Oh, but in in doublethink that's called "liberating".
What you're basically saying here is that America is an Empire.
What of Lenin? Is he a saint too? He overthrew a democratic government, and killed millions.
LOL. This guy thinks they elected czars by voting in the Russian Empire.

"Winblows source code... To RUSSIA???"
Hmmm... Methinks they already had the source of Win3.x and 95 - that would explain the recent 'success' of MIR and the rest of their space program.
"Hyenas don't live on the frozen tundra!"

"Might have made sense for the editor or submitter to POINT THAT OUT then, don't ya think?"
Does it make sense to think people are morons who aren't able to figure the point out by themselves?
Exactly. And damn it's speedy. Even Slashdot renders as fast as nothing before this.

Yes, posting from Moz 1.1 already

Hmmmm... Conspiracy theories, anyone?
Who the heck saw this flamebait with nothing but twisted logic 'insightful'?
Take another cup of coffee, moderators...

If I built ('created') a steam engine but the idea was from some other source than my head, would you still say I invented the steam engine?

Political urban legends never die. They just move over to Slashdot and infest the minds of right wingers.
Al Gore never claimed he invented the Internet. Read and weep.
The point is, Mozilla doesn't need any steenking add-ons. It's got it all to begin with.
Post brought to you by Mozilla 1.0.

Oh well. I guess I should just stay quiet if I can't spell Slashdot...
Trarnasaurs Rex
This must be among the most hilarious misspellings in the history of Shlashdot.

Don't forget the Axis of Evil.
The antenna of the fly are the equivalent of a terrorist's beard.
