High gas prices are really detrimental to the US economy. For every penny increase in a gallon of gas, something like $1 billion dollars leaves the US to the middle east
Not necessarily. Much of the high prices on the left coast are due to limited refinery capacity, not the price per barrel for crude. That increase lines pockets in-country in the distribution chain.

The cost of plywood and OSB has skyrocketed because the cost of steel has skyrocketed. As a result, people are building out of wood instead of steel.
Why, you might ask, has the price of steel skyrocketed? Because China is buying up all the scrap it can get and not selling any finished steel. We forgot how to make steel from dirt and since there's no scrap to make steel, the prices have gone into orbit.
I told my daughter yesterday that the best we could hope for would be a Demo president and Rep House and Senate. That way bills would not get passed and the president would not be inclined to Boeing/Lockheed/Halliburton benefitting adventures.

Is the classic 35mm wet/dry film camera. Nikon optics, rugged, just what you need. I don't think they are currently produced, but there are plenty of them available on ebay.

Is indeterminate write times. You're most likely working with flash memory. Flash memory write completion times will vary depending on the device, the block size, and the wear-leveling algorithm used. You probably won't have much control over anything other than block size. You'll have to think about when to close and open the file as well. Frequent file commits will improve recovery from errors, but will also probably increase write times.
This is really a job for an embedded computer engineer. If there's money, safety or reputation at stake, I urge you to find one to help you.
You might want to check out http://www.rockylogic.com. They have cute little 8 and 16 bit usb analyzers. Their products work well and they have fast delivery to the US (they are located in the UK). I don't know about Linux support, as we've only run them under Windows.
You have not defined what type of logic analyzer you need. They span the range of 10mhz and 8 inputs for less than $200 to 1ghz and hundreds of inputs for tens of thousands of dollars. You didn't say if you needed disassembly or a processor pod.
Sometimes I think that all you need to get your question in "Ask Slashdot" is to preface it with "I'm looking for an open-source blah blah blah..."
I got a nastygram from one of my competitor's lawyers for using their client's trademark as a metatag. They advised that in Brookfield Communications, Inc. V. West Coast Entertainment Corp., 174 F.3d 1036 (9th Cir. 1999), a jury awarded Brookfield Communications excess of $1,000,000 for a metatag infringement.
So yes, at least in the 9th Circuit Court jurisdiction, you have a problem.
I, for one would like to see some Viet battle reenactments. I live on the Sacramento river delta, and we got plenty of vets, plenty of Vietnamese, plenty of delta. All we need is some Hueys and blank ammo.
Ross Cook, a spokesman for BT, said that the fire was "very serious".
"There are 44 cables in the tunnel, each containing 24 fibre optic cables, which together can carry an awful lot of traffic," said Mr Cook.
"That is why we bury them so far underground, to protect them from being accidentally cut by people working on the road. It is too early to say how long it will take to repair until the engineers can get in there and work out how much damage has been done."
Set up a Windows server. No users, just file service. Don't let anyone use it, don't install more than a bare Windows installation. Set its network protocol to Netbeu or IPX *only*. Very important *no* TCP/IP. Don't let anyone muck with it.
Set your user machines to both TCP/IP and Netbeu or IPX, depending on which the server is set for.
Set your firewall to only allow mail, http, https and whatever else might be essential.
No guarantees, but like I said, it's worked for me for years.

The permise is that sewage treatment plants need external power to run the aeriation blowers. The reality is that many plants use methane from the digesters to fuel engines that run the blowers. Old, simple technology that's relatively cheap and bulletproof.
Oh, you said HP? Sorry, I thought you meant Data General. Coz, back a few years we used to pay a *hell* of a lot of money just to get a couple of filters cleaned.
Maybe 20 years ago? And you're still grousing about it. Why the fuck didn't you clean the damn filters yourself. I guess you'd rather keep your hands clean, spend the outrageous cash and complain 20 years later.
