I was torn between modding BrynM up and making my own post. I'm very happy with Omsoft as well. For my business, I have 768 SDSL and 10 fixed IP's. I've never had a bit of trouble with them, 100% uptime since I was connected. $169/month.
'The graphite that resulted from our experiment was so hard that when we released the pressure we saw that it had actually cracked the diamond anvil.'"
Does this really prove anything? I broke lots of glass windows with rubber balls as a kid.
To most of us in the know, it just doesn't matter. We've all transferred our DNS reg to real companies, that play in the free market and that actually want to keep customers through good service instead of spam and sleeze.
I moved my last 3 domains to joker.com 2 weeks ago in response to the Verislime sitefinder stupidness.
The CNN article's emphasis on voluntariness -- "whether schoolchildren can be allowed to recite the Pledge voluntarily" -- is grossly misleading, almost propagandistic. Most states have laws requiring the pledge to be recited every day as a class activity, and these are the laws in question.
What the hell is Michael smoking here? They are not "the laws in question" They are going to decide on a California law. It may have precedence elsewhere at some other time. Michael should be either canned or at least forced to disclose that he is *obviously* not a lawyer.
First of all, we don't know what's going to happen to PS2 prices as the holidays approach. I think some kind of PS2 bundle is likely. Secondly, at $50 per game, how many games can most casual users afford. And if they waited until now, they are probably casual users. Thirdly, how many of the people now buying Gamecubes already have PS2s and a stack of games for them? We have 5 consoles switchable into our livingroom wide-screen. The PS2 gets most of the play.
I refrained from pointing out that pre/post-AMF Harley produced respected product, and did not send threatening letters to Yamaha owners...
Actually, Harley claimed to trademark the distinctive "potato, potato" sound of its engine and threated legal action when either Yamaha or Honda introduced an engine with the same cylinder timing and sound.
They are for reel changes, not scene changes. I worked as a projectionst in the 60's. In those days, a movie consisted of 6 - 10 reels of film, each reel being 15-20 minutes long. You had 2 projectors, one running the current reel, the other threaded up and ready to run the next. A bell would ring on the first projector when you got down to 1-2 minutes of time left. Then you'd go over and light the carbon arc on the second projector and start looking for the cue mark.
At the first cue mark, 8 seconds from the end of the reel, you'd roll the second projector and uncap the arc lamp. At the second cue mark, you'd close a shutter on the first projector, open the shutter on the second, and throw the sound feed over the the second.
After you changed over to the other projector, you had to shut off the carbon arc, unload and rewind the film on the first projector, thread it up with the next real, check the carbon arcs, and go back to sleep for 10 minutes.

Moderators, just because you don't understand a metaphore or reference, doesn't mean it's not funny. And funny is *NOT* off-topic.
We could certainly use a lot less of the "I don't understand it so it must be off-topic" moderations.
More proof of the downward spiral of slashdot.

Say SCREW YOU to our Verislime overlords...
Anyone using Joker DNS for their servers? I'd like to try it, but I have something that works and I'm a little hesitant to change things.
I would prefer that the weapon be used to target the civilian use of Humee's
The Bearanstan Bears were always favorites of mine and to think they might end up in prison for volating crypto laws is unthinkable.

How do you pronounce Pathe?
You'll be sorry.
I, for one, welcome our new DCMA overlords.
It might be a good time to figure out how to make a Beowulf Cluster of these...

I may be a karma whore, but I'm not a lying karma whore. See the above post for details....

And yeah, I still always see the cue marks.
Is using Beowulf clusters of them to make weapons of mass destruction....
So why not hang out at fuckedcompany.com instead of slashdot? Sounds more like your crowd over there.
and chunkhandles. I love it. Great read.

A $99 console is nice, but it still doesn't mean market share when the games are $40 each.
They did the only honorable thing.
