If you want to avoid the proxy, then look towards Opera Mobile. As Kelson pointed out above, this is the "real" mobile browser from Opera. Mini is designed to get users in the door with whatever phone or device they might have (I use it on my crappy RAZR phone) I would recommend you look at Opera Mobile before Mini. Of course, you have to pay for that one, but there is a trail IIRC

Specifically and personally, I think that Opera is a great tool for fans of those really big swiss-army knives. It's an everything-in-one approach, much like the original Mozilla Suite and Seamonkey, and that totally works for some people. However, the experience can be quite overwhelming for the average Web user.

I disagree with this. With a Swiss Army knife, you can't get at the blade because the spoon, compass, screwdriver, and leather-punch-thingie are in the way. That's not the case in Opera at all. If I had to say anything about Opera features (download size, mail, irc, bittorrent, voice, mouse gestures,MDI,) it would be...

For those who don't need it, it's mostly out of the way and costs them nothing in terms of usability. But when you do need it, it's there, and it helps.

Anyway- I don't pay much attention to global warming stuff, and I assume I'm talking out of my behind here... but I don't hear anything at all about the rotation of the earth. I know it's tens of thousands of years to effect major climate change involving the "wobble" of the earth, but it's always seemed so fragile to me that the tilt of the earth is enough to cause our seasons, so a slight variation in the wobble would cause those seasons to be extended/shortened etc. I guess that stuff is measurable though and someone would have noticed by now if we're in the "warm phase" of that wobble.

I've seen this done several ways:

First, shut off the File/Edit/....Help toolbar so it's gone completely. Then:
1)Use the previously mention wiki to add each button back to your address bar or where you'd like them.

2)Use a drop down button that you click to get a drop down of all the Tool/Edit features (this saves space, but adds more "clicks")

3)(my choice) is to just have small button on the toolbar that turns on the tool/edit/help menu. Since I rarely use these (shortcut keys to get to all the dialogs) this seems to work best.

Cash, and Motown- Smokey Robinson and the Miracles etc, and lets not forget the smooth stylings of Johnny mathis. I'd wager that about 80% of my library was recorded well before I was born. Anyway, the point is, I agree that something is lost.

But yes... I agree that music moves you. My only point is what's wrong with buying some music that you think is just ok every once in awhile. "yeah, that song's kind of catchy...."

So you said you were picky about buying a CD saying that you'd have to like 2-3 songs before you'd buy it. Me too! except it's usually 3-4 songs. :) I just use iTunes for albums that only had just one good song on it you know? Or for trying out a new sound... and new type or genre of music. I give a good run and if I like it, I test around more, look for whatelse I might like. Sometimes, that leads me to go out and buy an album of stuff I really like. ...I don't know, I don't see what's so terribly wrong with that. But slashdot seems to think I'm mr. DRM himself.

If your music purchases don't withstand the test of time...
...then maybe I shouldn't by the CD and put it in a protective casing? Maybe, if it's not going to stand the test of time... just maybe I should only spend a dollar on a crappy encoding that is sorta mine, but not really. But if it is, maybe I should take measures to ensure it's around when I want it.

It's halloween, I'd like to get some scary music for my front yard, and there's going to be a party at my house with some coworkers. So, I should just go straight for the "Bloc Party" CD because of the awesome lyrics and great music, and everyone will be happy then?

My point is there's room for both. The OP said s/he didn't understand how anyone could pay for nothing and not have something tangible.
