I'm surprised that Microsoft doesn't code name their products "Boardwalk", "Park Place", etc. It would make for a great in-joke while the DOJ is turning a blind eye.
How well do these earlier kernels perform on old hardware, say a 486 ? Are they lighter than the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels ? I've never really had a chance to try them.
Selling copyrighted material (for which you do not have permission) is a criminal offense. Distributing copyrighted material is copyright infringement - a civil offense, meaning you get sued by the rightsholder.
I also had my first VD (virtual desktop) experience with Sun's CDE. I use to think that the invented the concept. So can we now expect a new round of law suits against MS?
THANK YOU FOR CLARIFYING. WE THOUGHT YOU MEANT VENEREAL DISEASE.
Slashdot Poll: How jealous are you of the guy with the 1TB array ? 1) Wouldn't that make a lot of noise ?
2) I want one, but where would I put it ? 3) Trying to convince spouse we don't need a kitchen 4) Taking out a loan right now 5) Broke into his house already, he was a liar 6) I'm not jealous, I have a few of these things already 7) I get my TB from CowboyNeal
I'm surprised we haven't seen a be-all-end-all virus/worm yet. You know, something with 10 different attack vectors, polymorphism, and maybe peer to peer communication. If you made it good enough and it was adaptable, it could quite possibly never go away.
I submitted the C-net article. I found some of the quotes from the judge to be bizarre.
People were free to make copies of movies in other, nondigital ways that would give them access to the same content, even if not in the same, pristine form, she said.
Yet we have things like Macrovision ? And
"It is the technology itself at issue, not the uses to which the copyrighted material may be put,"
Underdeveloped countries are the easiest to pressure. Just threaten to penalize companies who hire offshore workers from [insert third world country here]. It's a credible threat. I for one, do not welcome our new "intellectual property" overlords. The more I have thought about it, the more I have become convinced that intellectual property shouldn't exist at all.
I think it is the will of government and the will of those in power to take away as many freedoms and rights as they can. I doubt you will ever have the conditions again which formed our country.
I'm sure England didn't really see it coming either! Well, I guess we know you're out:)

One small company and two open source programs. Sounds like a thriving "industry".
Yeah, it'd be great to see one psychopathic criminal ruin the lives of ten or twelve normal people!
I wonder if you were in the class after this guy.
Our founding fathers believed this.
The founding fathers of your cult !?

Shit he sounds a lot like John Ashcroft.
