    Nice point, but what about solar panels ? They don't seem to pollute at all, and the general public would seem to have an interest in efficient technology if they get rebates for the power they generate. It's hardly something I'd want to rely on as a primary source of power, but it would definately help on those hot sunny days when everyone is running an air-conditioner.

    Oh man, do I feel old and I'm only 23. It's _DOS_, and the 640k limit was probably the most dispised thing about it. You may be interested in a DOS Extender, which gives you protected mode and access to more memory.

    1. Opening their own document, and as the copyright holder they can't very well be infringing upon themselves (though if this were possible no doubt the RIAA would find a way, but that is another topic).

    Circumvention is illegal, regardless of who owns the copyright, or if there even is a copyright (ie : an encrypted public domain work).

    2. Opening a document gievn to them by the copyright holder, in which they have been granted express use of the document.

    We buy DVDs under a licence to view them. That would seem to imply that the copyright holder has granted us permission to view them. Yet decrypting DVDs, regardless of the motive, seems to be illegal.

    I foresee a time where we will have GAIM and GAIM-Pro with GAIM still being open source, but GAIM-Pro being enabled by a for-pay plugin with closed source.

    The GPL forbids this, you will never see a closed source "Gaim-PRO" unless it is a complete rewrite. Thank you Richard Stallman for your forsight. .

    I've used Hotmail since before Microsoft owned it. When you already have a Hotmail account and your IM client supports multiple protocols using MSN messenger seems like a no-brainer. Well, it used to anyway. I always try to give technology a fair shake, and use whatever is good regardless of the politics. Microsoft has stabbed me in the back for it on more than one occasion, and I can't say I didn't see this one coming. I'm trying to set up my own mail server (biggest technical obstacle is the wife), in anticipation of the day that Hotmail is Windows only.
