The majority of people in most western countries (according to surveys I've read about) are quite happy with an eye for an eye - even non religious people. Its only the libtard agenda thats been promoted by vested interests for the last 50 years that has tried to paint the death penalty as some sort of neanderthal throwback when in fact its the most just penalty for certain crimes including the one you mention.
"While I agree in principle, the analogy here is off. If the car doesn't start in this case, I can just throw it away and clone a working one."
Except if theres a hidden problem it won't be working for long and soon the new one won't start and you're back at square one. Thats no good if you've got a load of database data on your VM that'll also be hosed if you revert the VM.
"It's a PITA to do all the level-shifting to ensure that a core operating at 0.5 V can communicate with one operating at 1.2 V,"
Why should it matter? If the one operating at 0.5 gets 1.2 for a few microseconds what harm is done other than a bit more power used for that time? If the bit threshold is lower than 0.5 in both anyway then either voltage will register as the correct bit.
The process monitoring CPU usage could be swapped out while a process that requires high CPU usage and hence a higher voltage is swapped in. Of course it won't get the higher voltage until the monitoring process is swapped back and by then its too late. Catch 22.
I'm sorry , but function names that long just end up producing code that is a lump of unreadable text with each line wrapping around my terminal multiple times. I'm not advocating going back to single letter variables etc , but sometimes a reasonable amount of brevity is a good idea.
...are parted from their money , whats the problem?
Seriously , if anyone genuinely thinks Facebook or Twitter are worth billions then then they deserve to lose every penny they have. Its not like there arn't recent lessons from history to learn from. Friends Reunited (remember that?) was bought for hundreds of millions by ITV and was sold essentially worthless a few years ago as the Trenderati moved on to the next shiny online bauble.
Are they any new ones even being produced anymore? I live in the UK and while fruit machines are thriving , old style video games have all but vanished apart from in a few central london arcades. You no longer find them in motorway service stations or small take away shops like you used to.
Even the ones you do see tend to be quite old and have PS2 level graphics. In fact I know of one arcade thats still running Daytona Racing from 1994.
I get the feeling that the arcade specific part of the videogame industry is pretty much on its last legs. In the west anyway, don't know about the far east.
it is actually the calculator connecting to the internet right?
Come on , the calculator is just acting as a PC peripheral - I could say my mouse is connected to the internet using that logic! I thought they'd found a way of making it connect directly.
No doubt from the same statistics office that today puts out spin about how speed cameras save lives when all the research shows they make no difference at all.
"Clearly you haven't spent a summer living in a place where the sun rises before 4am and sets at 7pm."
So it rises 8 hours before noon and sets 7 hours after. Give or take 30 mins due to timezone not matching the exact longitude that sounds pretty normal to me. Whats your point?
"I would rather swing the clock 3 hours ahead and putting the sunlight to use."
Why not just get up earlier. Its not illegal AFAIK.
Riiiight. Perhaps you should look up the UK on a map sometime.
"In central/northern UK the sun rises at 4am during the summer"
And what? It also sets at after 9pm GMT in the summer. If you start work at 8am you've missed 3 or 4 hours sun but when you finish work at 4pm you've got another 5 hours to go.
I mean if our politicians really don't see why clocks should tell a good approximation of the actual time why just 2 hours? Why not move them forward 12 hours and then it can be dark while we work but we'll have a nice bright nighttime for all those whingers to go out and have their cappucinos at 11pm or whatever the hell it is they want to do in the light late at night.
Sorry , but I don't see the point of daylight saving AT ALL. Contrary to what some morons seem to believe we (surprise!) don't get an extra hour of daylight. The real problem isn't the time, its the fact that the working day is spread unevenly around midday. If everyone started work at 8am and finished at 4pm then this wouldn't be an issue. If you really need the extra light in the evenings get up earlier - thats all you're doing anyway when the clocks go forward!
Its not just you scots who don't want it, plenty of us english arn't too happy either!
I don't much care if its dark when I drive home from work , I'm already awake and have lots of coffee inside me. What I DONT want is it pitch black first thing in the morning when I'm half asleep trying to drive down dark roads with kids trying to get to school crossing said dark roads.
Why the fuck our politicians want this I have no idea. We're more north west than all of the rest of western europe bar ireland which means the time our sun rises and sets bares little resemblence to what happens in germany 500 miles east or france 200 miles south.
Also , can someone explain whats the point of a clock if it doesn't give at least a rough approximation of the real time?
Well I know a number of people who have 3 or more analogue only TVs in their houses including portables and let me tell you , they're NOT happy about having to buy a digital set top box for them all if they don't want a useless brick sitting in the corner.
I think its safe to assume that MS are NOT going to put a trainee on a project that involves one of the worlds major stock exchanges that would be a major showcase for their technology.
I don't mean balance in the sense of providing the truth, but if you are fed left wing bias and right wing bias then somewhere in the middle lies the truth which hopefully someone could figure out.
eg: If what you hear from the BBC is poor palestinians , look at those nasty israelis and from News Corp you hear poor israelis look at those nasty palestinians then its a fair bet that neither side is acting properly and there has been injustice done to both.

Its not usually the unix admins job to back up the database. Thats what DBAs are for.

Instead of everytime a new one comes along a new motherboard is required. Rather kicks any CPU upgrading possibilities into the long grass.

"and put the company under the temporary control of the US government "
BP is headquartered and registered in the UK. I can't see the UK government going for that one somehow.

Actually I said get up earlier instead of fucking around with the clocks.
Actually its spelt "arsehole". HTH.
Umm , midday is the middle of the day - ie when the sun it at its zenith, mid night is equidistant between 2 middays.
I know its all a bit confusing for the hard of thinking who confuse the units of time with actual time. HTH.

Most companies offer flexitime now with reason. Who do you work for, Scrooge & Sons?
I know this might be a bit a radical - but you could always get your lazy arse out of bed earlier and so finish work earlier!
Yeah , I know , what a crazy idea!

Thats a straw man argument. We're not talking scientific absolutes here, we're talking political points of view.
