Google has to make money out of android somehow and if they can't do it via the play store or some other method they'll simply start charging for the OS itself.
Its exactly the same as what happened when people starting bitching about various bank charges. So now the banks dropped the charges and instead a lot of them charge you a flat fee just to have an account. Nice going people, thanks for that.

The storylines are childish (but then it is really a kids show I suppose), overblown and never live up to their promise - the season denouement is usualy more a "meh" that a "wow!", the dialogue is often amateur to say the least, the special effects are dire (and there's no excuse for that in 2018 when even a standard graphics card can do some pretty impressive stuff), and now the BBC have bowed to feminists and made him a woman. "OTOH, if you can get in a small pod and travel at 100-200 mph and go from start to destination directly, it is far far more efficient than a train."

Only if you're stupid enough to build your new metro line with road crossings on it.

"With underground pods, these things will be lightweight like an aircraft. Far less energy."

The majority of energy consumption consists of pushing air out of the way, not moving the weight of the vehicle. This is why a 200 ton commuter train is more efficient per passenger than a 2 ton car. Calling a car a "pod" and sticking it in a tunnel doesn't change the physics.
