Under our 1 year contracts we could not claim the benefits of being a contractor (lunch, travel, equipment expenses) nor did we receive the benefits of permanent staff like the pension plan, etc... They were forced to make us all permanent when the NZ govt outlawed this. Basically, most corporates behave this way - it's all about the Benjamins.
