That is exactly what this is. A power play by big studios to make an example out of this guy. After nearly or completely bankrupting him, they will drop all the charges, and he will be off on his way. Anyone know what sort of SLAPP provisions the UK has?
Yeah, although it existed, I dont' know what the law states in the EU as to linking to protected content. This might just be a power play by the studios to make an example of them. I have a feeling this is going to be similar to the raid that was done on the pirate bay servers, and in a few months they will drop the charges, after almost or completely bankrupting this poor sap.
What is interesting is your choice in corporate partners. I wonder if you ever regret not taking one of the other deals that might or might not have made you much more wealthy. Again: Might not have;)
We just had our party, and I pledge that if we win, we will donate our winnings. In fact, if its the grand prize, we hope to have the editors put up a poll on who should get how much of the charity donation!
Well I would be interested to know how the State of Washinton came to these conclusions and charges. Blue Sky laws are put into place to protect un-savy investors from being taken by kinky investment opportunities, but the charges don't seem to translate into a direct blue sky violation, and at worst, seems to stem from his lack of registering with the State that he would be selling securities.
They mention that he sold to un-accredited investors, but this is allowable under Regulation D, assuming he didn't take more then $1M and that the people he took money from were previous business associates, friends, or family.
I think this boils down to an angry Washington resident that put money into this 'venture' and lost it, and now is angry.
It isn't Exchange it is having an issue with. Anyone putting Onecare on their Exchange server should be shot. It is the older versions of Outlook that are crapping out. Anything before Outlook 2003 can have 'issues'.
I think that anyone who feels this is injustice has an obligation as a citizen
to contact the office of their elected or representative official and tell them
they will not stand for this kind of tyranny!
Actually, I was going to use "Obviously" as my subject line... so I'll just respond to yours.
I work with Exchange, and think that the chances are better that they just had shitty architecture to begin with. Exchange is a great platform and scales well, so if the original people wouldn't do it, well then f*ck em.
Stilll convinced to migrate? Well, something with multiple datacenters, large scale, compressed SAN backend, and alot of clustering will do it. Shit, you could do the entire thing with MySQL if you REALLY wanted to. Moving the existing data over will be a huge pain no matter what you migrate to though.
My suggestion? Don't just jump off Exchange, do a proper requirements analysis and you might find it is alot cheaper to just redesign the existing architecture.
It isn't that by installing Windows on Mac Machines will initiate a theft problem, but by installing OSX on Whiteboxes, will see a rise in pirated software for OSX.
The TRUTH is that this post is in-fact a terrorist transmission, using their
technology I have decoded it:
"The FAA and researchers at the University
at Buffalo are developing an
anti-terrorism search engine that will hunt for 'hidden' information
-- like how to take down an airliner -- that can bepuzzled
together by grabbing bits and pieces from unrelated documents.
Eventually, they say, the technique can be commercialized to improve search results on
more mundane matters.`"
And I didn't have to spend 10 quadrillion dollars to find that hidden message;-)
I think you are mistaken though, from my understanding they are doing away with the OMA model completely and building it around real push technology...
Yeah, if you actually set out and read all the 1 comments, you'll find some pretty off-topic, rambling, crazy talk in this comments. This is certain.

Well, considering it is just a guy in a cool looking chair suit, maybe not...

Yes, the people they are busy selling state secrets too would be 'customers'
/me waits for door to be broken down

I bet you don't manage anything of any significance then...
Just an observation...
Better idea:
How about you use your smarts and disable the autocomplete yourself, seeing as how its a horribly annoying 'feature' anyways.
I NEVER use Autocomplete, and I don't let IE save my passwords either.

Anybody still stupid enough to open attachements in emails like this DESERVE to get infected and have their harddrives ERASED.
Better yet, too bad the virus can't mutate from electronic to biologic means, that might solve our problems.
I see stupid people.
ALL the servers also have been noted to be in Canada...
In other news...
Make me proud to be Canadian
Thats funny, because that is where I got my inspiration for the post. Honestly, this whole system reminds me of this movie. Salim Witch trials anyone?

Very insightful comment. I too worked for many years in the FX sector, and oversaw a few trading systems being build.
;)
I get shivers because a few mistakes we caught in beta like certain currencies where the buy and sell have been reversed, etc.
Either way, the whole point with big money systems is to have everything worked out in PRE-PROD and tested and stream live.
Looks like somebody missed a step somewhere, but rolled it back quick enough. Just wish I had my hand on the sell button soon enough
Bastard! You beat me to my punchline by a whole minute. Damn Friday the 13th!
SELL SELL SELL SELL !!!!!
