My point is, if people were getting arrested for no reason, it'd most definately happen here more than most other places, because the forces people are saying cause it are at work here tenfold.
I don't see how a high crime rate where you live, which happens to be home to a lot of minorities, causes you to draw that conclusion. The fact that Montgomery, Alabama is the racist city EVER, perhaps.
Then you don't know a black man who isn't from suburbia.
I've never known a black man that WAS from suburbia. Make up your mind. Are we talking about racism or police brutality?
We're talking about how "the man" treats not minorities, now how minorities treat each other. If you'll notice, the cop that shot that guy was hispanic.
I'm stuck in Montgomery, Alabama for the next 3 years. I went to pick up a pizza the other day and passed a banner urging people to protest a low income housing project. A marine was shot while running after his stolen car. My friend's house was robbed and his wife was held at gunpoint on an Air Force base with razor wire topped 8 foot brick walls. Churches audit to make sure their members are paying enough of their income. Confederate flags are everywhere. My Trinidadian friend was coldcocked by some asshole who has no idea what his race actually was. When someone makes a racist comment, people don't even turn their heads.
I know people get treated unfairly. But people aren't routinely arrested for no reason.
Yes, all white people. I was reading your post hoping to gain some insite, but then I realized you're as racist as Jesse Jackson.
That aside... A common theme in jail is that, regardless of one's race, they are in for some bullshit reason. And it tends to happen over and over again, not just to random people. Perhaps you should remember when asking people what they are "in for" that they are in a place where dishonest people go and you're asking them something it's not in their best interest to be honest about.
I can hardly believe my eyes. I can't believe all the/. Buffy fans. Come on guys. All the time most people spend on the computer, I am too. All the time most people watch tv, I'm still on the computer. Shouldn't you be too?
Here [triggur.org] is a tour of a 'top secret' nuclear missile silo from some people with too much time on their hands.
Great. For those terrorists who can't gather enough from that horribly vandalized silo, the government has been nice enough to preserve one as a museum.
The Census Beaureau holds its records for 72 years before releasing them. I wouldn't call sneaking a peak at the 1950 census a very big deal.
I think its a safe assumption that the manufacturers of mp3 players have decided that 20gb is about as big as the market would make profitable (otherwise, they'd all make 40gb players). The size of mp3s is staying the same, and new technologies will only make the filesizes smaller. Therefore, the size of the storage on mp3 players isn't going to increase, and at a certain point, flash is going to be more viable. Hard drives are too easily damaged when there is a comparably priced, solid state alternative, which isn't in the distant future.
Erm, well, in Java, you wouldn't have most of the problems associated with PHP. That said, you'd have a whole slough of new ones.
Java is made for applications. PHP is made for dynamic web pages. I think, by default, this gives PHP an extra layer of planning that you have to do, and restricts you to a different set of options. And for your game, I think PHP was a far better choice.
Remember Barren Realms Elite? If I wasn't so lazy I'd be about half done with my PHP rip-off of it.
I think you've got it backwards. In my mind, the hard drive based players' days are numbered. Flash memory capacities are raising almost as fast as the prices are dropping. It's difficult to predict the market in 3+ years, but I don't think it will be much longer than that when it will be both reasonable and affordable to fit your entire mp3 collection on flash memory. The fact that hard drives offer more storage for your money won't matter since flash will provide you with enough storage and in a much, much smaller form factor. Keep buying your hard drive players for now -- I definately agree that right now, they are a better deal (unfortunately no one offers one with enough storage for me..), so let the more casual users drive the price of flash based players down.
..Huh? You can do it with a wireless FM modulator you can buy at Radioshack for $10 anyway (and people with a discman or mp3 player in their car do it quite a bit already). It IS awesome that it's built in, though.
The purpose of punishment isn't to punish people. It's not revenge for what they've done. It's to deter them from doing it to begin with. It's saying, "Hey, if you get caught doing x, y is going to happen. Think about it."
Obviously it's not detering a whole lot of people. Just giving them more of a thrill.
Microsoft sold licenses to use software it didn't have the right to sell licenses to. You can bet that if I was using an MSSQL database today, I wouldn't be tomorrow unless they cared to foot the bill for me.
I don't see the point of any of your posts in this thread. If someone gets information illegally from you over the phone, it's not valid in court, either (I use that argument because you said the exact same thing about fraudulent signatures/letterhead). So, why is it you don't give information out over the phone but will to anyone with a fake id and signature?
I think the main point of this post isn't to make Covad become a full fledged telecommunications company. Quickly putting together a voice service would qualify them to use the lines at cost again, but what would it cost them? Directly, you're point is "Next to nothing," but if the customer signs up for this and the service sucks, they aren't going to like Covad. They aren't going to drop Covad voice, they are going to drop Covad and get Bellsouth dsl or whatever.
Any idea what graphics chipset these use? The specs left that out ( usually means it's a bad one ).
Probably one with power that scales to match the processor. The C3 isn't exactly.. any good for any game at all. At least not a 3D accelerated game. This T1 is so disgustingly bogged down that I can't find the benchmarks now, but a 933mhz C3's OpenGL and Direct 3D performance are right on par with an Athlon 500mhz. If you're looking for a notebook to play games on, you're not only looking at the wrong one, you're looking in the entirely wrong end of the spectrum. Be ready to cough up 3 times that.
I hope that Google can continue to maintain their lead.
Why? If they have more competition, they'll be more inclined to do whatever they can to increase the quality of their search engine to keep people coming back. And they obviously care, because the quality is how they got those people to begin with.
Is this album, by chance, worth anything? IE, is it valuable? The Mask 100 compilation under Skam records sells on ebay for hundreds of dollars, easily. If they sold you a copy, on cdr or otherwise, it would cut the value of a record limited to 100 pressings considerably.
1. Thats up to you, I suppose. I know I feel better after having a pleasant conversation with someone rather than trying to make them angry.
2. Not really. There is potential for "adult contenct" coming out of the mouths of people anywhere. Likewise, every time I've seen a job dealing with people, when they begin to get offensive they're instructed to hand it off to your supervisor and not deal with them -- probably more because they think they're less likely to handle is properly, but that's beside the point..
3. I hate telemarketers as much as anyone. I don't agree that offering credit cards is victimizing people any more than a telemarketer selling hamburgers to an obese man. Whether you think they should be calling you whenever they do is a different issue, and while you can say what you want to them, I can only advise you to save your breath. They aren't going to hear it.
4. I meant 10000 callers. Ever seen one of the call centers? I worked at a place called APAC which had 4 call centers in my home town that at any time had about 200 people making calls, and I know they were bigger in at least a half dozen other cities.
Like I said, I hate telemarketers as much as anyone. But doing anything other than saying "please take me off your calling list" only shows ignorance. I made a page back in the day that had a whole lot more about laws for telemarketers at... well, I can't seem to find it. I know it was on here, if you can find it.
Maybe it would be better to instead ask them to add you to their do not call list. By law, they have 6 months to do it, but they've got to do it. (Aside: It's not a national do not call list, but that one company is required to remove you. Ask the name of the company representing whatever product it is -- there aren't that many.)
I think people would benefit from an explanation of why telemarketers do what they do.
Why do they take so long to talk?? A telemarketer doesn't do any dialing. They sit at a dummy terminal and are presented with a contact's information as the contact picks up the phone. ie, they not only don't dial your number, they don't even hear the rings -- just you saying "LLO? HELLO???"
Why do they keep calling me? I already said no! Each, I think it was called program or whatever (I only worked their for a few weeks, please forgive me) they call it lasts until the contacts are "exhausted." Exhausted doesn't mean everyone has been called, it means the sale rate drops below a certain percentage. When you call and say no, your name gets thrown at the end of the list. Right along side the people who had answering machines, the people who weren't home, and the people who said maybe later. You're going to be called until enough people stop saying "sure, I'll take one."
Why are they still calling me?? I said take me off your list! It'll be done, just relax. When you do this, ask the name of their company and document it. I recommend keeping a little pad of paper with these things along with the time and date you request it. 6 months later, go ahead and talk to your lawyer.
I know THAT guy won't call me again! That guy doesn't have a choice -- you'll either come up on his console randomly or you won't (most likely the latter; it'll be one of the other 10419 people he's sitting with). I'll encourage you to remember these are 14 year old kids trying to save up for a car when they turn 16, not the greedy businessmen that fabricated the annoyances. Sometimes that's not enough to curb the desire to be a dickhead, so also remember this: these 14 year olds don't care what you say to them. They're getting paid minimum wage to be there and make very little commision. They've been desensitised by 10000 callers before, and I guarentee you:
You aren't that clever.
Now, on with people's wit. Show me how great you got them, geniouses.
My point is, if people were getting arrested for no reason, it'd most definately happen here more than most other places, because the forces people are saying cause it are at work here tenfold.

Just wait till the case modders get ahold of these. I can only imagine the attrocities..

That is to say, Microsoft is already making it as close to perfect as you can get? That's not very /.
Isn't the goal to do better?

I don't understand what you're talking about. Can you explain? I have mp3s that I downloaded 6 years ago that work in Winplay3 and Winamp 3.
..Huh? You can do it with a wireless FM modulator you can buy at Radioshack for $10 anyway (and people with a discman or mp3 player in their car do it quite a bit already). It IS awesome that it's built in, though.

Flamebait? Why the hell would anyone EVER use this piece of trash? Opera doesn't display ANYTHING properly, AND THEY CHARGE FOR IT?!
If you're THAT intent on not using Microsoft products, at least use Mozilla.
