I'm actually doing just that with my Athlons. I bought some 3 inch dryer hose, two eight foot lengths. I also bought some 2 inch PVC pipe, and cut out short segments (about 3 inches each). I then cut a 3/8ths board to fit inside the window, and slightly wider than the dryer hose. I then drilled holes at one end of the board, just large enough for the PVC pipe. I attached the dryer hose to the pipe (no the size difference isn't too significant), and the other end, I taped to the power supply air outlet, using cardboard to get a good tight fit (cut a hole slightly smaller than the metal loop in the dryer hose, and a cut from the side to slip it in.)
So far, so good. My room is noticibly cooler now.
Next on my list is to some more holes at the opposite end of the board, where I will attach fans from old power supplies (which can be ripped out of old 486s or whatnot). I'll save one power supply to power the lot, or maybe cannabalise a wall-wort adapter. This will be useful to bring fresh air in. In the past, in winter, I've had a problem with condensation between the window panes. I'll open the outside window when necessary for fresh air, but otherwise, I'll leave the board upside down -- that is, with the hot air blowing into the bottom, and the fans sucking it out at the top. This will stop the formation of ice in the window...
... and save on heating! Heat only travels to colder mass, so instead of having the air between the window panes stagnant and only acting as insulation, I'll keep that air warmer than the room itself. Because of this, no heat from the room will pass through to the inner air, keeping me warm:)
Don't forget -- if the code was once released under the GPL, one clause specifically states that you are allowed to distribute it under it later version. Thus, a simple amendment to the GPL would need to be made, a version (2.1?) released, and all GPL'ed projects could then be rereleased as though nothing happened.
Having two UPSs is not overkill in anyway. What if you had to replace the batteries? What if one failed for some reason? By getting two at half of needed capacity, these situations are easily handled.
I've found that frank and immediate disclosure is the best policy. I've found several security issues at both my highschools, plus an issue or two with the University network. Before, I would hesitate on reporting, but then later got in trouble for it. Now, I'll immediately notify the IT staff of the issue. They take me seriously, and there has never been an issue with getting into trouble.
Having already written a proof of concept might bring you trouble, but be open about that too. Tell it to the highest guy up that has a clue about computers, and isn't afraid of them (like most management).
Try the new Beetle. It's surprisingly roomy, even for a big and tall guy such as myself. I was also sitting in some BMWs and Mercedes that day, and Beetle was by far more comfortable. Also, the Jetta isn't that bad, but any taller than 6'2 wouldn't like it.
I'm going to buy the 2003 convertable Beetle GLX when I have the scratch. =)
You have just made yourself a friend. It's so rare to see someone with a realist perspective on technology. It really is just an adult toy for Westerners.
I, too, recently quit my job doing the same thing. I was selling credit cards. I wasn't on the phones long enough to become good, but already the moral issues were getting to me. So I quit at the end of my second week. Now, I've been unemployed for two months, with mounting credit card debt, but I'm much much happier with that than harassing folks all day. Sigh.
No, they won't. Because the price they are allowed to charge is also regulated, and they have to apply to the CRTC to make a change upwards or downwards in rates. In fact, it's already quite common to have several business in one town all reselling the telco's ADSL. In Canada, most of the telephone and cable companies are granted monopolies, but in turn, their pricing is heavily regulated. Also, they are forced to provide service in rual areas, which they would otherwise not do (they run at a loss).
ON SOVIET MARS, POWERS nuke YOU!! (just like in Soviet Ukraine.....)

Or just type in any sane browser that stores what you typed in its history -- like Konqueror, Galeon, Opera, etc.

Forgive me for asking such a silly question but did you actually read the article?
You're new here, aren't you? In fact, you're so new you didn't know I would post this witless comment.
Wasn't The Road Ahead the title of Gates' book?
Can someone post the text? I can't get to the site! Looks like we slashdotted nothing!

No, but it would be the perfect display for playing Myst...

Apparently the user can't spell "more" lol

Well at least they are using Apache instead of MSIIS... maybe they are more clueful.
Uhhh... shut up, Beavis. Don't make me kick your ass again.. huh huh huh huh...

You da man! +5 Flamebait! Wow!
Can you expand on that?

Descrete math is a weak point for me. I think I'll spend some extra scratch on GEB then =)
I grok a lot of the basic ideas behind descrete math, however, some of the more abstract concepts are difficult for me to get.
Thanks for your advice!
