If, and only if, they do offer IPv6 services to their customers than I am pretty cool with this. Realistically IPv4 is done. There is no real other option for the ISPs than to move to this type of setup for backwards compatibility and push IPv6 for full compatibility.
In a wonderful, magical world of perfect programmers that would be true. Unfortunately, regressions are reality. Maybe google is changing their export class interfaces, or they looked at the fact that you can support docx format back to Office 2003 and decided the maintenance / QA effort was not worth it.
We run a small business and I can say that our IT group was quite happy when we moved away from blackberry devices. Not because of the phones themselves but instead because of the server side software. It is very likely things have changed since we stopped using their phones but I can tell you that we would be constantly losing device sync between the server side and the phones and would have to manually resync the connections. If that software is still in use I can see how companies the size of Yahoo would want to not have to support the additional infrastructure that is needed for the blackberry devices.
Ultimately, an employee on drugs is a liability to the company. Whether that be due to dangerous situations that drugs can introduce (i.e. fork lift driver under the influence) or simply that the employee could be arrested for possession, it is not unreasonable for a company to proactively setup a certain standard when it comes to drug use.
I'm sure others will note this as well, but if you multiply the width and height by 2x you receive a total of 4x resolution. (i.e. you could fit 4 1920x1080 screens into one 4k x 2k screen). Another way to say it is that by multiplying the height and width by 2 you have 4x the number of pixels.
You're assuming that there is no ongoing cost associated with this. The service will take money to be online, support the hardware / travelers, etc.
However, I would guess it will still be a good money maker for the airlines.
Guess I am going to buck the trend here but I could see this being useful for kiosk / terminal applications. How many applications does that computer for looking up books run at your local library for instance.
Obviously this would not be good for you average desktop user but I see no issue for specific usage situations to save a few bucks.
Actually, having traveled to Toronto quite a bit for work I can say that there are a lot of homeless people in the downtown area...one or two every block. Remember, Toronto is about as far south as you can get in Canada.
He didn't review HDTV because he was overseas not because Mythtv doesn't support it. I have had MythTV recording HDTV for over 1 1/2 years. Support is very good if you have fast hardware.
The "absolute" speed of light is measured in a vacuum. As soon as light travels through any material it slows down to less then the absolute speed of light.
Not that I disagree with your statement, we need to be rational about this and figure out the best balance, but this is talking about a project which predates 9/11.
That is because you are capturing an MPEG-2 compressed stream. The card listed in the parent thread give uncompressed SDI video capture which is a lot higher bitrate. It is used in broadcast studios for maintaining high video quality before being compressed into mpeg-2 for transport.
Something that existed in CivNet that has not existed since is the ability to play concurrently in multiplayer mode. This could lead to some aggravation (haha I attacked with my chariot before you could attack me with yours) but overall really sped things up and made it much more enjoyable for me. Any chance this is in the new civ?
Not to be rude but that is hardly a comprehesive description on how to implement a fiber network in a neighborhood. All that page really does is lay out a few prices, which I might add are linked to ebay auctions.
Digging up peoples yards, laying pipe, installing equipment would all be time consuming to begin with but getting everyone in on it would be a chore in and of itself.
I guess the question would be, did you create the macro on Dell time? If they were paying you for the time spent on the macro it would probably technically belong to them.
However, if your supervisor wasn't interested in it then that is their loss. Sometimes people don't want what is best, only what is known.
That is why I enjoy working for a small company (8 people). Every efficiency that we can come up with is quickly accepted and used.

Netflix just wants peering agreements. Assuming the service provider doesn't have to build out to the carrier hotel then the cost is minimal.

It will probably depend on implementation...certain chipsets may be faster then others.
However, anandtech recently reviewed a WD hard drive with a USB 3.0 connector and it was actualy ~20% faster then the eSATA port.

Nice obscure reference...mod up.
If they bring it back, it would be pretty sweet if they did it in 16:9 HDTV. Fox already airs a lot of their shows in HD, why not a cartoon?
Probably VIA EPIA would do the trick. Maybe something like this:
VIA EPIA NL
RAID and clusters are all good and well until you have a fire, or flood, or the roof collapses. That is what off site backup storage is nice for.
There was. It was called Predator...or Aliens...or pretty much any movie on SciFi.
Suppose I should have looked around a bit.

Guess I show have previewed my comment before declaring how Global Warming thinks it will effect hurricanes.
Actually, everything I have read indicates that we Global Warming don't know how global warming will effect the number of hurricanes. (http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/~tk/glob_warm_hurr.html/
However, due to how hurricanes gain strength (by pulling heat from the water) global warming could be linked in an increase in strength.
