    Those tractors and cars were designed without power assist. Todays cars are. Try driving a modern car without power assisted steering, for example. I think you will find it worlds different than the old vehicles. I had a unit go out and it was a bear to turn even a slight curve in the road.

    Personally, I like Deluxe Paint better than anything I have seen since then. Other than a few applications like that (and modern ports thereof) it is probably mostly a hobby thing.

    Nothing today exists today that is like Deluxe Paint III. It was a great painting program with animation as a bonus. PS and Gimp are not painting programs. Those that say they are never used DPIII

    (1) it's tough getting people, and especially kids, to read books these days, due to the allure of electronics; and

    I agree this is tough but the point is it is not really about reading. It is about being read to. Two different worlds.

    (2) when Amazon came up with a way of marrying books to electronics in the form of the Kindle, this was a good thing for people who try to make a living writing books.

    I agree but let us not forget the point being made in this post. I am all for allowing the Kindle thing to read to people but that is not the same as reading.

    Uhm, you could try, maybe, reading it to them. Or they could read it themselves. The assumption being that a lit teacher wouldn't assign above their reading level and they have the time to read it. Between video games and such.

    Your price is based on the cost of the song for one copy. If it is shared and downloaded by two we now have $6. If it is downloaded by three it is... you see where this is going. That is what they base the cost on though I do think their numbers are skewed and they should have to provide some proof as to how many times it was downloaded. It would really slow them down.

    I know, I know, they have no proof how many times it was downloaded but you have no proof it was only once.

    I don't like the RIAA any more than you do but your reasoning does not help the cause.

    So more than half of the 16 bazillion people are ignoring them?

    My guess is that five bazillon are responding.

    Think about that.
