Will I be able to upload my MP3 collection from Linux, MacOS, or older versions of Windows? I know the creative players don't connect like a normal flash drive, which means you need to use special software to connect to the PC. This has ment that initially there was no way to connect creative players to Linux or Mac PCs.
The first sentence from that artical: "Cell is a microprocessor architecture jointly developed by the Sony, HP, IBM and Toshiba alliance..." which I altered slightly for comic effect (luckly I'm not a Wikipedia editor)
AMD are still selling well, despite now having the inferior processor (because of market momentum, and the tight supply of Conroes). That's why they are keeping the price relatively high. Maybe in the future they will be forced to drop the prices.
"When Microsoft failed to meet Commission requirements, the EU executive fined the company another 281 million euros (about $350 million) this summer. "
All I want to know is when we get our 2*281 million euros? If you divide that by the population of Europe you get about 3 euros each, that's enough for at least a beer each.
They ask a very good question, do we really need 4 cores? Well, no at least not for games and the benchmarks confirm that one fairly good. The chip actually performs slower than the conroe extreem (discounting the overclocking results). It would seem to me that this chip would better used in a server that would natually make more use of the extra threads.
If all is true in this story we can wave goodbye to Spansion. But the artical is a bit inconsistant on some details... for instance they say it's 30 times faster than NOR (but they don't say if this is read or write speed) and then they say it's more reliable than flash (but they don't say if it's more reliable than NOR or NAND) Then they say "Samsung claimed the PRAM would become a competitive choice over NOR flash"...what? 30-times faster, cheaper to make and more reliable, but it's only "more competitive"?
This leads me to think that there must be some strings attached that they are not telling us about
It's funny that you think the registry isn't a reliable source of news, but yet a unverified blog entry is. There is no way of proving that those comments of John Carmack really are his own, or even if he really did those experiments.
I am highly suspect of the so called plot as well. But I note that the blog you linked to is highly opinionated. Yes, they didn't have plane tickets, but this is more indictive that the threat was not immanent, rather than non-existant. Also, the registry artical assumes that the explosives would be TATP, but it could equally be HMTD (how easy is it to make HMTD explosives in a plane??)
What he says about the Sidebar confirms my expectations: more worthless cruft. These features aren't their to please the users, they're they to please Microsoft. They can feel clever that they made their widgets as pretty as Apple.
Ever get that message "Ensure your anti-virus software is switched off during the instalation, certain products are known to cause problems". So, now will we get "MS browser shield is known to cause problems with this web application"?
Ans how do you explain it then, clever dick? Why do Dell stick to Intel when all the benchmarks show AMD CPUs being faster and then turn full circle now?
Actually the supply of Conroes and mermoms is pretty tight at the moment. Offering AMD dual core chips will releave that (I mean who will want a Netburst, or single core, when you have affordable dual cores)
This shows how well the AMD anti-trust case worked. Intel backed of their preditory discount schemes for fear of being ruled anti-competitive and then it no longer made sense for Dell to be an Intel only shop
Actually the new low power X2-3800+ (ADD) now has the performance/Watt crown. It has idle power of 8 watts and full load of 25 watts. They measured the performance of various benchmarks and also the energy required to perform the benchmark to get a figure for performance/Watt and the X2-3800+ came out miles ahead of the Conroe (or any other chip). http://www.lostcircuits.com/cpu/low_e/6.shtml
Before they were discounting older chips as they introduced new ones. This this time Intel has discounted the newly introduced chips and AMD had to match. *This has not happened before.*
I remember reading in the one of the Analyst Day presentations Hector specifically said that 65nm wouldn't bring huge speed benefits. The main benefit of the 65nm is that you can fit more chips on a wafer making them cheaper to produce. Probably also it will be easier to increase the cache (currently the Conroe has double the cache size of AMD chips)
A seller is given a rating according to both what he sold and what he bought. So, you could have a seller with 99% positive votes, but when you look into the details you see that the rating was actually 99 bought items with positive feedback and only one thing that he sold with a negative rating. This is extreemly misleading. There should really be 2 ratings, a buyer rating and a seller rating.
There is a transaction history available, but it is deleted after a very short time (only 3 months). So if the seller hasn't been very active in the last few months you have now way of knowing what sort of itmes he was selling to get such a rating.
Yes, but why do we need this in the first place? If meat is fresh and cleanly prepared it doesn't have any risks of bacteria. So, basically this is a measure to conteract the bacteria that you would find on meat that has being lying around for a while. While that might make the food cheaper to produce, I would prefer the fresh product, rather than gambling with the unknown effects of having a virus in my food.

Some websites only offer their services depending on which country you come from and the ip address tells them the country and town

What size beer 300 ml? ;)
There's a bar where I live in Spain where you can get a beer for 40c
by the way don't get too finicky about the maths in that calculation, it's probably wrong

There has been no, previous price war like this before, where the flagship products of both AMD and Intel are being heavily discounted.
