If you install SP2 on your machine you may find that a lot of your favourite software no longer works. http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/new s.cgi?l= 1&cat_id=10 (notice, that Microsofts official page about SP2 doesn't mention any of these problems)
Yes, because you have to read through documentation to find out what the shortcut is. It would be better just to make it bigger and make clicking on the G highlight text
If I remember correctly Intel's dual core debute is a workstation processor, while AMD will have their Opteron dual cores first. Dual core processors make more sense in a server than a workstation.
If google is really paying them so much money, maybe they should have done a better job on the UI. The google search box is in the least accessible part of the screen, way over on the extreem right, it's too small and it's difficult to clear out old search result.s
I love KDE, but I have to agree. Just reciently I noticed that they changed the waste basket folder name from "Trash" to "Wastebin". Is this change really necessary? I has the effect of breaking all applications that delete files to the wastebasket.
Actually what's more interesting than the SpeedStep thing, is the fact that the 600 series uses 25W less power than the 500 series on full load ( that's something when you consider that there is 1M more memory on the new chip). Up til now Intel's 90nm process was a huge failure because of the heating problems and forced Intel to abandon their plans to hike speeds above 3.8GHz
No. Adblocking only gives user ability to block ads. Normally by default nothing would be blocked. In this respect it's the same situation as pop-up blocking. However, adblocking would certainly make some MS customers angry, which is why I expect the won't do it.
Autocomplete is not so useful as integrated help and other tools. It's intrusive, sometimes it pops up when you don't want it and slows down simply editing operations (the database of all possible c++ libraries is quite large). Also it's quite difficult to implement. I see many opensource projects spending huge amounts of efforts trying to implement these trendy features and then they leave basic things like usability and debugging support half finished
Nokia created Symbian to prevent Microsoft putting the windows tax on mobiles, so I can imagine that the licence must have been pretty cheap. Most people don't use MP3s anyways, so it's not exactly a killer feature.
I got it, but not the "brain" problem variety. I broke my wrist snowboarding. Never really believed that you could damage your nerves simply by typing.
Our staff has completed the 18 months of work on time and on budget. We have gone through every line of code in every program in every system. We have analyzed all databases, all data files, including backups and historic archives, and modified all data to reflect the change.
We are proud to report that we have completed the "Y2K" date change mission, and have now implemented all changes to all programs and all data to reflect your new standards:
Januark, Februark, March, April, Mak, June, Julk, August, September, October, November, December
I trust that this is satisfactory, because to be honest, none of this "Y to K" problem has made any sense to me. But I understand it is a global problem, and our team is glad to help in any way possible.
Speaking of which, what do you think we ought to do next year when the two digit year rolls over from 99 to 00?
We'll await your direction."
When you cannot reach the page, instead of an irritating message box, put the error message in the tab title(so you can see it when it's a background tab), also, leave the address in the address bar so the user can try again. Also, if user isn't connected to the internet, open the previously viewed page from the cache rather than just giving an error
A more interesting statisic would be how many users actually bought stuff after clicking through. Could be most users only click through because the were fooled into it by fake dialog boxes and pop-ups and because IE users are less tech savvy they are more likely fooled.
I agree completely. However I still think open source applications can't make any money for the simple reason that the end-user can just download your code and build the application themselves. It's a simple fact that very few people pay for anything if there is some way to download it for free.
Thunderbird is the best free email client that I have seen. My one grip is the buggy editing behaviour, for instance sometimes when you are typing the caret disappears, often the font size reverts back to the default when you don't want it to and also the keyboard navigation doesn't work too well (ctrl -> should behave like ctrl - and move one word)
In Spain these cars are known officially as 4-wheel quadro-cycles, not cars. They fall into the same classification as motorised wheelchairs and bicycles. I kid you not, I'm studying for my driving test!
Amazing that people will devote their free time to making IE a better browser, knowing that this benefits MS finacially, and they will get no reward from MS.
Just as a matter of interest, is there any known case of a 0-day vunerbility?

Depends on what you define as WMP. Presumably the GUI front end is easy to remove and they aren't talking about the WMA codecs.
Plus, they already wasted enough money trying to buy off the CCIA $10M and Novell
Jupiter-sized blobs of hot gas reached speeds of 0.99 speed of light, later tested positive for nandrolone

That's all very well, but when are they going to port Wine to Windows?
Hmmm. They are actually hiring new game programmers according to this link: http://www.nokia.com/careers/ngage/
