When I went to this website: www.coolsearch.biz it got me a error message saying that my PC wasn't Win32 compatible (I was running Linux), then when I clicked ok to dismiss the message it tried to download and execute a file called gdnES208.exe using wine! It also tried to install a firefox extension without being requested. P.S. be warned: this site is dangerous!
If you're running Windows 2000 there is no patch available for the latest iframe exploit. See here: http://search.linuxsecurity.com/articles/ha ckscrac ks_article-10204.html
"Nuclear reactors do not produce large amounts of isotopes "hundreds of thousands of times more radioactive" than "natural" uranium. And if they did, the half-life for them would be extremely short." Oh yeah? well the artical directly contradicts you. On page 3: "Granted, spent fuel will be far from safe after such a relatively short period. Even after 100 years, it will still be so radioactive that a few minutes of direct exposure will be lethal."
Yes, we have progressed much in the last two centuries, but that does not automatically mean that we progress by the same amount in the next two centuries. There are no facts to support that we can do this, nor can anyone forsee the future.
Yes, a good example is that pop-up warning message box that outlook gives you when you receive an email with an attachment - provides no real security and at the same time serves to make the application so much more annoying to use.
It's interesting to note that the idle power consumption is actually lower that a 3.0 Ghz P4 530. Could this be an indication that Intel are trying to rectify the problems with the 90nm process?
Well, you do have a point. But you can hardly expect anyone to invest a huge amount of time searching for vunerablilties in MS's code without any financial reward, so you have a choice between companies like this finding security holes and then profiting from it, or nothing - the holes are left there undiscovered.
I agree too about OpenOffice features being so annoying. My gripe is the autosave feature, which prompts you each time to confirm the save - hence defeating the purpose of this feature. Although, I'll say this in their favour, Open office is a brilliant Microsoft document *reader* - Abiword can't open half as much docuements and crashes easier. I prefer to write all my documents in HTML anyways, so I don't need OpenOffice for writing documents.
"Change the theme to something that looks nicer. What exactly was wrong with Qute?" Please, don't waste more time pricking around with the theme. The theme does not make me more productive, a full featured form manager does, also a fully working download manager - i.e. make pause resume actally work.
Maybe it works sometimes, however, I'm sure if you try to reboot and start the reload you will have problems. Also, sometimes it seems to resume correctly but when you try to open the file you find that it's corrupted.
The resume feature doesn't normally work if you disconect your modem and try to restart the download later. And it definately won't restart if you reboot your PC. I use Opera for downloads for this reason
I considered BBC to be fairly neutral. Mirror was staunchly anti-war and the others were more, or less pro-war. Guardian was one of the few to do investigation journalism - like sending non-embedded journalists to Iraq
The Guardian was one of the few papers to report on the war critically
and produced excellent articals such
as this one.
There wasn't one single American newspaper that reported on the facts
critically. Even
the New York times admits this.
Yeah, Nokia say that they're on their way to recuperating their market share now that they have released clam-shell phones, however I haven't seen one single Nokia clam-shell in any of the shops here in Spain. Wonder how they expect people to buy non-existant phones.
A phone needs to fit into your pocket and it looks like this doesn't. I can't imagine anyone going to the pub with this thing in their trouser pocket (will spare you the obvious pun). Anyone who buys this will only use it as a PDA and have a normal mobile to make calls.
I tried using apt-get, it would be a great idea if all software that you could want were stored in the apt-get repositories. As it is I only ever found one application that I needed from apt-get.
Hopefully ISPs will upgrade one day

Learning PHP 5

I'd like to use PHP 5, unfortunately all ISPs seem to still be using PHP 4 (the server I wrote for reciently actually had 4.1)
"right now firefox is using 10 and my bittorrent client is using 7. Or am I missing something here?" Yes, only one of those threads is doing any real work (rendering the HTML, which is processor intesive), the others are just waiting for data to be returned.
Is there any information availble about this, like what tasks are involved being a beta tested, will you be sent the CDs, or do you have to download, etc?

I'm not sure if sp2 fixes this problem
CCIA $10M, Novell half a billon, RealNetworks, only ones left...
You think 100 years is short lived?
We have a completely fool-proof method of managing nuclear waste in Ireland. We don't create any to being with!

"Opteron cpu limit: 8 cpus"
No one sells 8 way opterons. The chip to connect them together isn't available yet.
Pity the moders missed your post it is far more accurate than the parent. Also, regarding Nullsoft open source, don't forget the Nullsoft installer!!

Does it come with software suspend enabled?
