not sure which AC you are, posting/replying isn't a requirement. AC's are less likely to get one. if yer the one who wrote about it being a new line item
The difference is that this year it in on the income tax forms. When I did my taxes there was a line on the form that wasn't there last year. When calculating the tax owed to the state, it gave the income/amount table and said "You owe us this much extra for internet purchases." That is pretty close to the exact wording. It made a point to say it was for internet purchases. if it's a flat rate assumed based on income, that's pretty offensive. in any case, my posts were as to what the state mandates via law, not what the average citizen reports (or does not) the fact is, the use tax existed previously, everyone spending money out of state was responsible for paying it.
in New York state, troopers pull people over as they leave the reservation if you have a quantity greater than for 'personal use' i.e. 2 cartons, they levy a fine..
same thing crossing the border from canada into NY at niagara falls.. more than two cartons, per smoking age adult in the car and you pay more
when my sister and I (she lives in NYS) met up at the falls, we had lunch in canada, and she used me to bring a total of 4 cartons back into the US
I would point out news.microsoft.com -an open usenet server for all microsoft groups- exists, and has no requirements to 'sign up'- can provide lots of support for arcane bits of MS stuff I use comcast for my connection, and my giganews limit isn't affected by my use of news.microsoft.com's server for the groups that are available at either.
there is comprable usenet connection for linux that I am aware of..
was allow more than one output of the same source.
I use one to have music from winamp go to my local PC speakers, and a lyra wireless sound transmitter- poor mans slimserver/squeezebox/sonos
instead of two a lyra-I could have it go to a disk write plugin..
you don't need output stacker to have winamp output to disk, you only needit if you want to listen to the mysuc while you output to disk (at the same time)
to get cable internet, I MUST subscribe to digital cable or pay an extra $20/mo
well, that does raise an eyebrow. in my view, if they required basic & internet for the discount, that should be enough.. requiring extended services for the discount does indeed seem over the top...
yes, and the law (and contract between merchant and business) is VERY CLEAR, you cannot charge a surcharge for credit cards (which by the way, cost merchants money) but you can in fact give a discount for cash-- the laws make it so that you can't advertise an item as priced for 20$ less than every merchant in town- and then in small print add +% for credit cards. http://www.retailers.com/eduandevents/ask/askcharg eforcredit.html The difference between a surcharge for credit (which is illegal) and a discount for cash (which is legal) is the advertised price--a retailer cannot charge a credit card customer more for an item than its advertised price. note- this is a US only law, the UK is different.
further, have you considered- you aren't being charged extra for not having other services from that particular carrier, you just aren't getting a bundled discount? if I want cable, part of the costs are suppling me with cable, and part of the costs are billing me for the cable.. if I take another service from the same company (internet access) the only additional charge is supplying me with internet access, billing can be included in the billing of the cable- therefore it does not have to be charged to me- if I add voip or regular pots telephone service, once again, I need only be charged for the service, not the billing.
yet if I take ONLY the internet service, they must cover the costs of billing.. these include financing the debt, covering bad debt, payment processing, mailing the bills, and disconnection if service is terminated with prejudice.
The truly amazing thing about big business, is that they are willing to discount for bundled services SO much, I expect big biz to be greedy beyond belief.. a ten dollar discount for loss of one bill is a good deal...
think about it, if a caboose fails, lacking a transponder- and the engine does not know-or can't report in-- then you have a BIG obstruction on the track... if both fell off and are tracked (taking this seriously,) you know you have issues between point a (engine, under power-moving) and point b (caboose, not moving)
1-800 holiday was famous example 1-800 h0liday (with a zero) was snatched up by a travel agency, who then booked commisionable stays at holiday inns--
holiday inn sued and lost
the agency never advertised as "1-800-h0liday" they just happened to have this certain # with a zero in it.-so it was not infringing on a trademark... kinda harder to do with URLS..
don't you mean verabscheut and verachtet?

check your paperwork.
the money went to VT
the dealer MAY have made this transparent to your efforts...
you didn't name your state- or I'd give a link
see if your state has a "Use" tax or not.
ever buy a car across state lines? was it tax free?

I really doubt it is "new this year"
what's more likely, is this year, everone got notices about it, included with their state tax packet.. (i.e. the states are gearing up)
but trust me, if you bought a car over the state from a dealer in another state and registered it in VT, then you paid a USE tax
Legally, you are supposed to pay a USE tax to your home state. (if it has a sales tax)
not the groups I know linux groups exist.
the server
open any news client, type in a server name of news.microsoft.com and any id info you want..
yer in.
that's what I find damn useful and impressive.

go price out real cards...
the timeframe on probation can exceed the remaining time on sentance...
choice 1- get out in 5 years, choice 2- get out now-but have 15 years probation.
in some rare cases, time served+ probation can exceed maximum penalty time serverd-for an offense....
and how do you think the MPAA is funded?
it has to be, in order to display pages made with frontpage.
27.5 billion dollars in sales, at 50 cents each
equals production of 55 billion
27.5 billion in sales, at 10cents each, equals 275 billion in production.
is there an error?
sales of 27.5 billion.. at fifty cents each, means 55 billion per year. at 10'c each, 275 billion per year..
sales = production? no... the mpaa makes money off production, the artists off sales.... screwy logic abounds!
that Vonage et al don't want to be taxed like telephone companies, but want the same (FCC) protections as to access to the network?
potentially defensible.. a sip phone is in fact a 'server' which is forbidden by most AUP's
(for those of you whose isp's allow servers, I SAID MOST DAMNIT, and you are very lucky indeed)
