    it's the effort required of the CPU that matters
    I have a external harddrive that can connect via USB 2.0 or firewire, and a DVD external with the same options... on usb2.0 heavy read/write traffic puts a 4-10% (once 16%) processor load on my 2.53 p4, firewire puts maybe 1% load....

    I'm amazed that they missed Nissan.com

    this guy fought a hell of a battle with Nissan motors, and I think he should have outright won, and the final decision was- he may not use his domain for commercial purposes.. what kind of stupid ruling was/is that? if it's his, (and it should be) then he should be able to use it for ANYTHING that does not have to do with NISSAN or cars.

    (which he never did....)

    if you want to fund life search, you have to GO THERE, or do things like look for chloryphll (sp?) in planetary atmopsheres

    first of course, I'd get a job there, learn the service schedule
    locally, I believe they use ISDN, but some just use modems... hack the line, take one that uses standard modem, and insert a relay// discern traffic based on your own atm both approved and denied.. when you feel confident, walk into another, insert a small box at end of phone cord that approves all atm withdrawal requests *up to the machine limit* and clean it out..

    big heavy metal boxes, with little tiny unsecured phone lines.

    the traffic sniffer shouldn't be anything more then a tone generator and two modems connected to a small pc.

    if MegaCorp (tm) produces cars in the US, then they have to follow labor law, and pollution laws, and saftey laws.

    if MegaCorp(tm) produces in 'tinycountry' they have to meet US saftey laws to sell in the US, but they can pay their employees any wage, with as few benefits as the workforce will accept, and pour as many toxins right into a river as they can get away with.. and guess what? they can sell the car for a whole lot less money.. and you think people will buy american because of their ethics?

    You can use sndrec32 to convert analog to mp3

    record a blank file, about 2 seconds,
    using 'effects' increase the length by 'decreasing speed' as needed to length required for project.


    start at beginning of file, and hit 'record' this causes your new sound to mix with the file

    using windows sound recorder, it's ability to convert, and the lame codec, I actually have a friend I setup converting his old LAME punk rock from casettes to mp3's using just soundrec.. I actually created blank wav's for him in 180, 240, and 900 second versions, and have used it successfully to record an entire side of a 45 minute casette onto one file, 2800 second blank wav, pared down as needed after the casette was in.

    if a laptop had a built in CF slot designed with intent, you could buy CF equal to your ram, and use it for your suspend/hibernate write out of memory instead of a drive, and it should run a damn sight quicker.. no?

    I'm not defending this MS device at all, I'm talking about a similar device I own and USE..
    to the hell with media edition, I run divx video on it. I get TV from my tv card, and put it on the archos.

    it serves a purpose, a purpose a laptop cannot fill for me, is that so painful to accept?

    Which, is not what I wanted. (and that's what matters)
    I wanted a small video player, and something I could use to take files from work to home and back..

    that's two hundred & 20 dollars more, doesn't fit in my pocket, does not have video out, has a battery life of about 2 hours.
    I own a laptop- I use it for different things..
    this I use with my glasstrons, and get up to five hours of use watching video per charge. (lately)

    my phone, when the headset is plugged in, and playing MP3's or not into my ears, will occasionally go "incoming call-accept?" and if I answer yes, i'm live..

    My apologies if this is a problem, but I don't even have to tap.
    of course, to make a call, I tap it... then speak the name.. I suppose I could re-record the voice names as "me to blank" instead of the current "blank"

    Publically post email anywhere you like, with a note "this address has a spam filter that tosses all email unless ADV: is in the subject, if yer a good netmerchant, Im willing to browse..."
