according to the Bible, it is okay (some might even say it's one's duty) to kill nonbelievers if they won't convert

Where does it say that? I find it hard to believe.
he had no knowledge of genetics or the mechanism of inheritance, and was most certainly not aware of anything such as DNA.

Which is why he couldn't have foreseen the fact that evolution in single steps can not happen on a cellular level--- one of the theory's largest roadblocks. But whatever:-P
I feel that MS can't get rid of the hard drive AND expect backwards compatibility. Many of the games required the hard drive--- like Halo. So, if MS gets rid of both of those features, the system will lose before it leaves the gates.
It would be nice if the article would have said how they will enforce this. Perhaps the users have to be connected to the net or something so after the ad is played, it sends some packets over to IBM to keep tabs. If the user is supposed to use the computer for a minimum 30 hours a month, what's to stop them from simply leaving the computer on all day and all night? Would IBM go far enough to check for periodic input?
I believe it has to do with the 'wares' of the trademark. Here in Canada when you trademark a name, you have to state the wares. For example if you register McDonald's, the wares would be 'restaurant, fastfood, etc.'. If somebody else register's McDonald's as a shoe shining shop, it's ok. His wares wouldn't match the McDonald's fast food company.
I remember our company was getting sued by Telus because we had mybc.ca and they owned a trademark on mybc.com! It was too bad for them because our site had nothing to do with the wares stated in their trademark case!
Yes you are right. How Nintendo doublecrossed Sony by teaming up with Philips, then doublecrossed Philips to join back with Sony--- only to cancel that too.
Only an idiot would state that 3D is the best thing about games. Lots of games have 2D prerendered background-- predrawn. Did you forget about Resident Evil?
I should have been more clear. If there's a game, say a sports title, that's released on PS2, XBox, and GC, they'll be finished in that order. So it's mostly never true that they'll be the same versions and have the same features, so it's often best to decide on a per-game basis which system to buy it for (if you have the luxury of owning all 3 systems of course).
I forgot to add that I used to love that Sierra magazine InterAction. It was very cool in the day (or so I thought) especially when Ken and Roberta's son had his own column every week. He was around my age so I thought he must've been the luckiest kid alive. I used to pore over every word of that magazine every 3 months that it came out.
Back in the early 90's I used to call up Sierra's customer service several times a year requesting free demos and they used to send me boxes of floppies with 5 or 6 demos for free! The company seemed like they really wanted to keep their customers:-D
I believe Sierra purchased Dynamix then they released a bunch of games together including Space Quest 5, the Incredible Macine, Willy Beamish, Front Page Sports Football (the one you're trying to remember), and many others. That was around the time when Sierra also purchased the French company Coktel-Vision who released the Inca and Gobliins games to name a few.
Hope they have the mini-games in there!

Sam & Max in 3D
·
· Score: 3, Informative
One of the best things about the original Sam n Max was the mini-games they had. There was the whack-a-mole, the alligator mini-golf, and the battleship game with cars to name a few.
I just hope they keep the original spirit in the new game. Might be hard to do after 10 years!
Let's hope they also do a new Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle sequel game as well. Perhaps a prequel?
If anyone is interested in taking the video game dev. courses at CDIS in Vancouver, Canada--- I suggest you DON'T.
They cut the program off after my first year into their 3-year program because the content was too hard and people were dropping out. I stuck it out because they promised me that the program would be there for the remainder of my three years. After my former University's entrance deadline passed, CDIS tanked the program.
They didn't offer any sort of reimbursement. The courses aren't transferrable. The staff were unfriendly and had the "oh well come back again next year we may start it up again" attitude when I came back to discuss my options with them after the program's termination.
As far as I know the school is teaching Game Design again but I would avoid the program altogether.
My advice: Go to a real University and get your Computer Science degree like I did if you want to be a video games programmer. Now I work at EA:-D
Actually a rep from H&R BLOCK told me (in Canada) that if you don't mind waiting a little longer, you can just send your T4's, mutual funds receipts etc. in the mail to Revenue Canada and they'll do allllll the paperwork for you! It saves you money and it works!
By the way, I'm still kinda new to this Slashdot thing. What the hell is a troll anyway?
I browse Slashdot and read the articles almost every day and rarely post. Seems people complain about posts more on here than any Insightful comments. But I agree with you in that my post shouldn't have been modded as Insightful as it was just a thought.
My post was on topic so who cares.
Who cares? This is probably the most uninteresting news I've read on here in a while. Amazon has the money to do whatever the hell they want (including ridiculous patents) so why is this news?
Or how about Hard Drivin'? Now *that* was a tough Atari racing game. It took me 3 quarters just to figure out how to drive for longer than 5 minutes. Then again, I always sucked at racing games;-)
I did a lot of programming on GWBASIC because as far as I can remember, the great thing was you didn't need line numbers like on the Commodore 64. I programmed a lot of crazy screensavers back in around '89-91 for the Atari ST. Fun.
You mean "honour" ;-)

I believe the parent's 4 gigs was referring to the CPU speed-- 4 gigahertz.

Actually, Universal never owned the King Kong trademark to begin with. It was public domain.
You don't NEED to use these codes. AFAIK they're just add-ons and specials, like getting the gray hulk. They're not required to beat the game.
Actually the movie studios get 70% and the theatres still get 30% of the ticket prices.

Features are often left out of GameCube releases because it's the lowest on the console priority.

Bonehead.
...that's what I'm waiting for...
