So what you're saying is that God is being squeezed out of His habitat as humans encroach? That would mean Intelligent Design proponents could be seen as an environmental group desperately trying to preserve a threatened species. How progressive of them!
one of the things Ive wanted to figure out with GIMP (just aint had the time) was if it was possible to call/access some of its image manipulation functions from the command line (e.g. resize 50 infile.jpg outfile.jpg to resize an image to 50% of its old size)
Gimp's command line capabilities come from Script-fu. You can use the procedure browser in the script-fu console to see the list of commands, then run them from the command line with the -b and -i (batch & no interface) options eg:
the video iPod can do 300x400 video which is generally considered to be standard TV resolution.
I don't know which planet you're on Sparky, but where I come from PAL has a resolution of 720x576, while our neighbors in NTSC land can see 720x480 glorious pixels of soap opera every day on their standard TV sets.
Did they raid her house for a civil suit, or do they have some sort of remote monitoring software?
The RIAA used a modified version of Kazaa Lite to access the Kazaa network and track down people who shared copyrighted music. Kazaa Lite is an unauthorised version of the Kazaa client, which is why Sharman Networks is suing the RIAA for copyright infringement in a separate suit.
My understanding is that one problem here is that Tamiflu is currently the only drug of any use.
Tamiflu is a generic antiviral/antflu agent which has not been effective against avian flu in any practical tests. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=477 25 Relenza is the other main antiviral drug which may be an effective palliative. It's worth remembering though, these drugs will not prevent the spread of a pandemic.
They may at best alleviate the illness of some of the victims, but that's it. In other words, they're a pharmecutical companies' ideal medicine - vital to save the patient, but won't stuff up the market.

I wish those so "enlightened" ones on/. would stop wholesale bashing of people's beliefs systems.
My belief system is that Intelligent Design is a sly and decietful attempt to have creationism taught as a science. I don't believe it takes much enlightenment to reach that conclusion or to conclude that anyone who supports ID is a poor christian.
The only place that stocks it near here charges about 20% more than for beef. Not too many roaming the streets these days either - the dropbears tend to take 'em out fairly quickly.
That's because mod points aren't intended as a means of criticising posts, they're meant to be used to change their visibility at a particular threshold. If there are a hundred posts expressing the same point of view, it doesn't matter to someone reading Slashdot (and therefore generating income from the ads) that all of the posts are valid, it's still boring.
If you want to express an opinion which is likely to be commonly held and don't want to be modded redundant, differentiate it from the pack. Make it funny, link to some useful information or try to look for a different angle.
An actual study comparing a representative samples from multiple encyclopedias and Wikipedia would actually be interesting, and Wikimedia should seriously consider funding such research.
Then they could run a "Get the Facts" campaign to let people know how well they compare to the competition. Because everyone knows how reliable self-funded comparisons are.

I can't figure it out -- and I do believe that whoever DOES figure it out will have a pretty penny hitting them from the dead tree publishers.
Open Document XML and browsers capable of reading it.
When're those pennies going to start dropping?
They're called nuns. And they're not cheap.

You have a Roomba?
There'll be a quiz next period. Let's not all see the same hands.
Question 1: So how d'ya get 300x400 as a standard resolution out of that?

the meeting chambers and accommodation for parliamentarians are free-standing within the boomerang-shaped arms.
Ah, that'd explain why the little prick keeps coming back.

I'm an Australian, and I'd be very happy if our Prime Minister was under the ground.

People can be evil.
I can? Thanks! Woohoo! I've been looking forward to this.

And what makes you think the human brain is anything more than just algorithms?
Another (recursive) algorithm?
I hate when people mod you redundant.

Really? Well, my filesystem isn't GNU, my X-Windows aren't GNU...
There's no shame in that. A lot of people shop at Goodwill these days.
I don't care what Mythbusters say, either, I tasted that 'Roo meat back in the day.
You got lucky then. That stuff's a lot healthier for you than beef and costs a boatload more too.
mmmm...BBQ mammoth
Mmmm.... Jurassic Pork.
I would argue that 1984 was based on Nazi Germany.
You'd be wrong. It was based on England in 1948 - post war austerity didn't agree with Orwell.
