Which doesn't really answer his question.... I'd be surpriced if anyone gets sued for this in the US though... The work hasn't been done in the US, so no harm done? It can't be illegal to *use* reverse engeneered software, right?
The US is still hopelessly behind Korea, Japan and Scandinavia. I pay 249 SEK (about 35 USD) a month for my 8MBit ADSL connection. I can flatline it at 850kb/s with noone asking any questions. They way it should be.
ASP is however pretty nice at companies. Makes is really easy to make rollovers to new versions etc. Ponder buying a 10Mbit internetconnection (fiber) and 100Mbit to your co-location - you could pretty easy make an ASP-sollution work there. Alot of companies have already made that switch... Some of them of course use it only as a PDC/Storage solution, but the ASP is a pretty neat thing which may work wonders instead...
Now this is a really good sumup of what I believe he wanted us to know...
By the way... If you think stuff is absurd in the US... In Sweden there's a discussion about taxing men for raping and hurting women... And no, not fining the ones who actually do hurt women... Just taxing every man in Sweden...
How's that for a can of fucked up?
the lag in ms is really a sellingpoint in europe. I got one with 16ms... I had one of those dell screens, and it had something in the range of 45ms... Which means my screen had a higher latancy than my Internetconnection! Sell the screen and buy a new one... Do some research this time...
(I bought mine because the price, about 100$ 1½ year ago)
I agree that there may be pressure... But even programmers need to learn to cope with that. In that sense these kinds of competitions are a great way to get used to the pressure of deadlines which do exist in the real world - where you earn your money.
Did you notice Google wants the domain? Starting Booble again?
On a nother note, this is the first juridical document that I've ever seen from Google... Otherwise it's more of a "hey buddy..." tone in their writing...
It's easy that being at home erases the fine line between home and workplace. It becomes work and no play. Or at best all work and at some point, some fun. In my opionion, it's worth every penny just to get out. May it be in your rented office, at the coffeeshop with a laptop, whatever. Just get out. I would think there are people in the same situation who would gladly rent a bit larger and split it - that helps alot when it comes to the human bit - not being alone all the time.

It would seem that Microsoft got a taste of their own medicine... Great story!
So... I understand removing the Media Player... But why is it that they removed the wma codecs? Or are there no codecs, but built into the program?

Anyone noticed that a Unixvendor is using word? Why don't they use their own software...

I'm not for spamming... But if I were a spammer... I would pat myself on my back... Pretty nifty... Bastards!
Now we know why the site is so thin then... Almost no graphics... Would imagine that would take a while on 56k...
