But they will return given time. You too will discover that Slashdot is not a monolithic Linux beast, but has Liberals(classic and otherwise) and conservatives(Fiscal and otherwise) Democrats, republicans and Libertarians. There are Linux Gurus and Windows Gods and When The flames fly your Vain Philosophies will not be enough you will have to be able to grok kernals and microcode.

    My Fiancee(now wife) and I discussed this at length before she allowed me to buy her a ring very much like This. Neither of us likes large diamonds and Yellow gold is also something we prefer against ... So after much looking and a good bit of shopping we found a ring which matched our price and design needs.

    Of course given that most of the Computer Science Jobs are in Redmond and Silicone valley where 49691 is almost enough to pay rent on a cardboard box and UPS drivers make more than that. It suddenly isn't that exciting.

    It's about learning to be a useful cog in the wheel. The personal relationships with the other members of the team... learning to work outside your comfort zone and sacrifice for the team. Learning to put up with whatever comes ... etc. And about building a "safety net". Yes it is demeaning and "beneath you". It is ALSO a paying job. One that if you are at all good at can pay as much as 75k. I'm earning less today than I would be flipping burgers as a Co-Manager... which is the job I was offered at the fast food establishment I spent several years at. A Co-Manager makes 45-60K and writes the schedule... They also have to fill in if someone doesn't show up. But Having that experience means that if times get really rough I've got that experience and Resume recommendation to keep me from being homeless.

    I don't understand the seperate dual release thing... dvds just like cds cost under $.50 US to press and include. Remember why Games used to come in huge boxes... it was the 15 3.5 and 20 5 1/4 floppies included with the 200 page manual.

    If they had been aware(hard not to be) of the destructive potential of the weapon... and it was functional.. it would not have been beyond their capability to launch it from(in) a submarine(or 2) and point it(them) at washington or London(or both) as a beheading attempt. WHo knows how successful it could have been. but it would have been a difference maker.

    ONLY turn down the ambient light if it is flourescent. if you have Incandescent(non-flickering) ambient light. It will RADICALLY decrease eyestrain.

    For me ghosting is worst when reading slashdot or other text. I can read very nearly as fast as I can scroll wheel down. On a CRT, I can continue reading while scrolling. On an LCD, I must pause briefly to allow the ghosting to clear. Sometimes I lose my place... yes I'm that easily distracted and Yes I read that fast.

    What he did was inherently selfish. and inherently human. Killing others to save one's own.. Was he wrong, yes of course, but killing the jedi and the younglings et al to save the love of his life and the spawn of his body, is the way the human instinct works... The Jedi Council worked to subliminate this for a greater good. Sidious used his natural desire to save his lover(wife) and spawn in order to corrupt him and bring him to a point where he would destroy one and very nearly destroy the other.
