    Like the RIAA the NFL isn't interested in STOPPING piracy or copying, but simply making it non-trivial. SO they go after TIVO and Kazaa, but ignore video cards and FTP/NNTP. WHy? because it's counterproductive to sue NVIDIA/ATI or Worldnet/AOL. So they are wisely(?) picking only battles where they can achieve a public win. And they are picking battles where they can stop the "average" consumer from making the copies. Remember the Betamax decision?? they can't afford another one. so they can only go after "substantially infringing" media. So, Can they stop TIVO?? perhaps, perhaps not, depends on whether or not the judge(if it gets that far) determines that the "secure" copy to PC has substantial non-infringing uses.

    The film is at 24 FPS, but the display is 48, although I'm reasonably sure that you can get that on old Hardware too. And here is a discussion of why movies can get away with 24/48, and games cannot.

    Guess I'll have to look for a computer that uses one of them there cow chips for storage now.

    Ok, roleplaying is where you find it. If you want it you will find it, and it will find you. AND there are always higher causes, like the upcoming invasion from the "Realm of war" that drive the heros of the various races together in unity against a greater common foe.

    Because "good" or "evil" that's what Heros do. Save the day.

    Yes, Messy, slippery and confusing, but stating that third world=sick and impoverished is not true today or in the past. And it's one of my peeves, like a grammar teacher when the term is misused... I get to ranting. And it just gets ugly from there.. fortunately I don't rant too often and have karma to spare in cases where I get a wild hare.

    While it may be illegal to drive a car with missle launchers installed on public roads, if it is legal to acquire the launchers, it is legal to attach them to the vehicle and operate it on privately owned land.

    One reference I came up with about a dozen refs last time this came up, but I just hit google for third world defined/third world definition/third world list(ed) and came up with quite a few refs, last time I found a listing that was current, but japan was since added to the NATO block..

    The swiss and Japanese are or were when the term was coined 3rd world nations... the first being the NATO block, the second being Warsaw block and third being those not aligned with NATO or Warsaw.

    Just another of the "checks and balances" Strong states strong federal, BUT when any of the groups State/federal Judicial/legislative/executive goes out of balance the system has the potential to become broken.

    It refers to the imaginary "poverty" line. Which refers to ~30% of the US population, But doesn't actually look at living conditions which typically include 3 squares a day, a car and at least one TV. Is life "harder" below the poverty line, SURE! Is life "comparable to 3rd world levels" SURE if you count the swiss and Japanese. If you are talking Sudan or Ethiopia NO.

    FOR 10 years of "ceasefire" their missles were fired at the alliance aircraft flying northern and southern watch. not quarterly, or annualy, but 2 or 3 times a week. Just because its not on CNN doesn't mean it didn't happen. And the fact that they couldn't shoot straight says nothing about intent.

    According to a clear interpretation of the geneva conventions as signed by the US, most or all of those captured in Afganistan were illegal combatants. Some may not have been, but our legal process will determine that. As it has been.

    Why is it so hard to understand

    If two people(nations/states/organisations) I know want to kill me, have a meeting, WHY is it so confusing to assume since I wasn't at that meeting, and they both continue trying to kill me that they agreed at that meeting to work together?

    That is what we know from the released intelligence.

    we know that "high level" representatives of Al Qaeda and Iraq met.

    We know that threats and attacks continued... Reasonable logic concludes that they shared intelligence and agreed to work in concert.

    The imperfections that cause problems aren't imperfections(typically) they are hyper perfections...

    they are too perfect, the tiny imperfections are what make it real... skin has texture, its not the same from inch to inch or even millimeter to millimeter. so flat smooth textures are less pleasing than harsh rough ones.
