  1. Re:Secrets to Cooking Better on The Thermochemical Joy of Cooking · · Score: 1

If you are adding enough salt to dry the meat and flop the vegetables, CUT BACK. Seasoning should be done as close to the beginning of the process as possible so as to allow the flavors to come to harmony. If you are "correcting" flavors, then you are seasoning too late.

That is where science comes in... and combined with the art, tells you how much salt will make a harmony, just as a painter knows how much red to make a natural "flesh" tone.

Are these memberships annual or lifetime, that was the only thing I couldn't find on the site.

I'm not close enough that an annual membership would be any value, but lifetime I would get all over that... prolly android level in case I have kids.

Ok, people go to see elton john, billy joel, etc for the "show" and the "concert". Oh and if I want to see girls jumping(on trampolines), I'll watch the man show. I'm certainly not going to pay $50 for a "show" that is just a long music video that I could catch on MTV or VH1, I want to see a special show, perhaps I'm in the minority, perhaps not.

  15. Re:that explains it! on The Way the Music Died · · Score: 1

Exactly, I've been to several Garth brooks shows, for example... The man no longer performs, but he runs around like a fiend, and you could hear him panting for breath as he sang and ran and climbed and jumped, and sometimes he would just shut up and let the audience sing...

Actually if it is pre-packed, it will sound exactly the same since its played off the album in the back...

for example a live artist will typically not run around the stage full tilt while singing...the pre-packed stuff will perform a double backflip in the middle of a verse and not miss a note.

    Yes,
Speak softly and carry a big stick--Teddy Roosevelt-South African proverb

You are running up against the most common and popular misconception in American public Schools
people are inherently good and logical and if we can get them to sit down and talk we can all just get along
Unfortunately in reality people tend to be inherently selfish and illogical and need to be beaten about the head and shoulders to get them to sit down and talk and then beaten again in order to get them to listen to reason.

THis is the lesson from history, that unless it hurts in extreme proportion to expected reward, the behaviour won't stop. And the lesson applies to nations, animals and children equally.

Johnny will keep playing with matches until he gets burned or swatted causing sufficient pain to convince him of the wisdom of his choice.
Sadaam Hussein will invad his neighbors and gas his citizens until it hurts too much to continue.
