Erm, hello, ImageFX is primarily aimed at still images - Final Cut Pro is a video editing package, as is Media 100i.
Right tool for the job and all that.
We use Photoshop for editing frames and for creatings stills to be inserted into FCP - FCP supports photoshop's layers, putting one layer on each video track, allowing you to do different things with each one.
Can you edit full frame broadcast quaility videos on ImageFX?
When aircraft fly through the Earth's magnetic field, there is a detectable potential difference between the wingtips, enough to have to correct for it on the magnetic field-sensitive instruments.
The current is negligable, but it's there.
So, by moving through the Earth's field you'll be inducing a voltage, but it's going to be extremely small.

In the UK adding the "and" is correct, as is pronouncing the numbers after a decimal point individually.
159.34 is "one hundred and fifty nine point three four".
You'll only hear Americans and children who are just learning about decimals say "point thirty four" in the UK.
If I was a designer working with a G4 and was forced to start using a PC I'd start actively looking for another company to work for, even with the job market the way it is now.
I wouldn't care that Photoshop and Illustrator were faster on a PC (even with inflated "metric time" graphs), I wouldn't want to stare at a Windows desktop all day.
Unless they're as flexible in write/rewrite as MO drives, then I won't be replacing mine for a while yet.
MO is everything Iomega's Zip format wishes it was - assortment of large capacities, sturdy and reliable discs, not much bigger than a floppy.
The thing that makes it so great is that a 2.6Gb MO drive can take el cheapo 230Mb MO discs as well as the super expensive 2.6Gb discs and all the flavours in between, so I can choose the right size media for the job.
Now, if only more people had MO drives... Although, the only advantage to the scarce tech is that people don't steal your discs!
Final Cut Pro probably has After Effects-like features, although probably not as extensive as Adobe's app.
What Apple has done with FCP is astounding. It's approaching Media 100i in quality in some areas at 10% of the cost. In some areas it even eclipses Media 100. We have both systems running side by side and while Media 100 wipes the floor with FCP in real time effects, flexibility of capture settings and a few other things like SDI/component/AES/EBU, FCP is astonishing when it comes to squeezing performance and function out of what is essentially stock Apple hardware (Media 100 has an expensive hardware capture card and breakout box).
FCP's titling system rocks too, beating Boris Grafiti into the ground with a big stick.
I adore Media 100i, but I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two now (we've only had the FCP system for a couple of months).
Adobe Premiere is a non runner in this race. We have Photoshop on both systems, since there is nothing to match it for stills work, but Premiere just can't match up when it comes to video editing on the Mac.
On the PC it has less competition - if you want the serious stuff on a PC you have to look to Avid or 844/X, both of which will set you back serious money. The consumer/prosumer editing solutions are a much tighter race though and don't come close to Apple's consumer offering Final Cut Express.
Sony has licensed it's Memory Stick technology now and you can buy third party Memory Sticks that will work in your Sony hardware.
I spotted this at Heathrow airport on the way to see my girlfriend. Third party and Sony branded Memory Sticks were on sale next to each other, with the Sony ones being about 15% more expensive.
They'd shoot background plates with no actors, the same shots with the actors including Andy dressed in a tight fitting all over suit in one colour, then again on the motion capture stage.
Using a combination of the background plates, matte shots and the motion capture they can key out the real Andy and put Gollum in his place.
It takes a long time to do though, and rendering those frames is no picnic.
Do they have statistics proving applications on OS X are really more stable than those on Windows XP?
I have:
10:20PM up 43 days, 17:01, 5 users, load averages: 0.59, 0.60, 0.62
And that's with Photoshop, Mail, Camino (Chimera until a couple of weeks ago), iTunes and Adium running.
Haven't had any apps quit on me in a long time. The uptime would be longer, but I updated to 10.2.4.
OS X and its apps are like a rock. I think I've had Chimera quit on me once since I've been using it (since 0.5), which for a beta app is pretty good.
I've had two kernel panics, both of them when I was running 10.1.5 and that was a long time ago.
I used to use a PC with Windows 2000 Pro, and while it was ok, and I was happy with the stability I had mamanged to tweak out of it, my iBook just blows it out of the water. I'm never going back to Windows.
40 year old lemon? The Sea King has been one of the most reliable helicopters ever constructed, used in everything from AEW, ASW, search and rescue, commando insertion, heavy lifting and as an air taxi.
The ones you should be worried about are the American Chinook helicopters (with the twin rotors). A history of gearbox problems have plagued this craft causing numerous crashes.
It was a variant of the the Chinook, the Sea Knight, that crashed in Kuwait on the first day of the war.
I'd fly a Sea King into battle any day of the week.
I haven't had sex in two years. No, five years. Ok, I'll tell the truth, I've never had sex. I can't get a girlfriend because I'm too scared to leave my parents' basement. I have to get my kicks from bashing Apple. I can't afford to buy an Apple computer because I don't have a job and my parents are too mean to buy one for me so I post anonymously on/. about how much Apple sucks. This keeps me happy with using my Windows computer.
Well, on the British side: HMS Ocean, a 21,000 tonne assault/helicopter landing platform with a complement of Commando Sea Kings and Merlins.
HMS Ark Royal, 20,000 tonne aircraft carrier with a complement of Sea Harriers and Merlins.
HMS Argus, hospital ship, with 150 surgeons of varying specialties plus support staff.
Assorted type 22 and type 23 frigates, armed with Tommahawk Cruise Missiles.
3 Commando Brigade and 35 Commando Brigade of the Royal Marines, along with a shed load of armour from the army.
There are a few other ships out there, as well as Trafalgar class submarines, but Ocean and Ark Royal are the main ships.
We might have small ships comapred to the US, but we're right there.
I saw a Nimitz class US aircraft carrier on the news this morning (these are the biggest military ships afloat, capable of deploying 200 aircraft and helicopters).
I also saw eight B52-G/H bombers take off from RAF Fairford in Oxfordshire this morning, presumably on the way to Iraq, each capable of holding 70,000 lbs of assorted ordinance. I would imagine they were carrying Tommahawk Cruise missiles though - each one can carry 20.
In the capture of Umm Kasar port in the early hours, an armour column was needed to shift a few gun positions that they weren't expected. Both American M1-A2 Abrams and British made Abbot self propelled guns were used to get through - both have the ability to fire twice as far as the Iraqi's Russian made T72 tanks, so they can park up 4km away, well out of firing rane of the Iraqis and pound away with 120mm guns until they're eliminated.
The M1-A2 can also fire that mammoth gun in the dark and in zero visibility weather since it has a very good thermal camera and a military grade GPS system with connection to the battlefield CCC, so they know exactly where they are in relation to other friendly forces and in relation to fixed enemy positions.
Li Ion, NiCd and NiMH batteries will last a long time if they are charged correctly. A computer controlled recharger paired with a particular type of battery can ensure it is charged at the right rate and kept at full power without damaging or overcharging it.
Most battery packs contain microprocessors of their own and I would imagine the iPod's internal battery has just such a device for managing power.
What is this F-lo-ppy D-is-k of which you speak?
Are they like AOL's free coasters?

They're heading that way.
They made Final Cut Pro 3 into a world beater for video production.
We're running it on a dual 450 G4 with 896Mb of ram and it easily keeps pace with our Media 100 system, which cost 6x as much.
It doesn't crash, is loaded with useful features, is devoid of bloat and works exactly the way you want it.
They'll be doing similar things to the professional audio industry soon, I'll bet my hat on it.
A: At the bottom of course.
I'll be here all week folks. Please, try the fish.
Wordy McWord.
I have been laughing at those Intel Centrino adverts with the desks in the middle of empty stadiums and in the middle of fields full of cows.
Even if they do get 802.11 to connect at that range, that speace heater CPU will eat your battery for breakfast, and burn your penis as a bonus.
I'll just sit here with my iBook, which did what this Centrino bollocks does, but 3 years ago, and with a 5 hour battery life.

Give me System 7 over Windows any day.
The modem is a separate module attached to the logic board and even if it's not operating, it is supplied with power.
The logic board shuts off the audio circuits and and the HD to preserve power, but not the modem.
Presumably, disabling it in network prefs so it doesn't appear in the drop down list will shut it off.
I would unmount any firewire drives or usb devices that were bus powered when I wasn't using them too.

As much as I need coasters in my house, I'd rather one AOL disc per version over 10 or so.

And it's "it's" if you're being pedantic.
it's = it is
its = belonging to it (being one of the only times that the possession apostrophe is not used)
Depends if there was any salt (or other dissolved things) in it. Salt water freezes a few degrees below zero.

I use the term "mammoth" in all respects - this thing can fire big shells accurately, and with the ability to penetrate almost all types of armour.
A 120mm gun that has 90%+ accuracy at 4km is better than a 125mm gun that can't even approach that sort of accuracy and range.

Yeah, you should never use a preposition to end a sentence with.
I'm sure that's what the oil companies are telling you, just like they're calling electric cars unsafe.
Gasoline, that highly flammable, highly explosive liquid is nice and safe though. Especially in Ford Pintos.
