Uh huh, I see it carries Showtime, MTV, VH1... maybe this will get the kids out of the basement for a day or two... this could actually be a good thing!
Last I checked, I automatically log into gmail mostly on a daily basis, unless for some reason the gmail cookie gets cleared. This is a gmail software engineer? He should clearly know better...
I will be the first to say, even logged in, that I have paid to download whole albums, tv episodes, movies, etc.. that is, until the RIAA and MPAA stepped in and got the Russian government to do their dirty work for them. The last time I actually went into a HMV to buy a CD was almost 15 years ago. Everything I watch I download, and I really don't mind the lower quality video, because well, the price is right.
You Americans get HULU but this isn't even a choice in Canada, it's all blocked, so we really are screwed when it comes down to a download or pay for play option, and I have 3 credit cards all ready to go right now if they would only offer the option! Let me download a high quality episode, sans commercials, and I'd happily give up 50 cents to a dollar per episode, or with commercials, then free or 1/4 of the price.
Until then, I'll be happily giving my entertainment dollar to the movie theater for a 3D presentation, and that's about it.
HSX is a hoax more or less... and once you figure out that you can just bet the farm on the weekends big releases and then short sell the hell out of it the Monday afterwards, you'll be at $100 million in no time and bored out of your freaking mind. Rinse and repeat.
The problem with this, is the support staff or admin staff are all clueless about how to properly run Apache for a high bandwidth website. They would much rather have you out the backdoor then actually offer you a different plan that better suits your needs.
I have been with http://www.colo-cation.com/ for the last 3 years, they accept both adult and mainstream sites, and although they don't advertise "unlimited" resources, they know enough to scale your virtual server as the need arises. Yes, I started with their lowest plan at $20.00 a month, however now I am paying practically dedicated prices ($80.00 a month) and feel I am still getting a great deal (running about 12-20 Mbps).
Any problems, the owner is a phone call away and I have never been happier. It's a smaller company, and I think that's why I stay, the personal service is definitely worth it and the owner (Chris) doesn't mind having a technical chat with you every once in awhile.

Last place I worked, they placed the "Genuine Advantage" sticker with the activation key right on the outside of the computer. This place had THOUSANDS of computers. Want to figure how many activation keys someone grabbed before quitting their job?
I find it ironic that 99.9% of the people here are all victims of bullying all trying to understand and explain what a bully might be feeling or thinking.
It's too bad your not realizing that the MAJORITY of people who use an ISP simply don't want the headache even sorting e-mail, solving technical issues, or configuration problems brings. I've taken thousands of calls and all of them are reasonably the same: It's YOUR problem, FIX IT without them even taking the slightest bit of effort to try and figure out the problem.
I realize i'm speaking to the choir here, but your attitude towards mail is not what the majority beholds and that is what determines issues like Earthlink going to a completely whitelist situation. Why tell people? Because 9/10 of them won't care either way.
Hey I use Forefox as well as the next Slashdotter, however, I am a creature of habit - smart businesses know this. At work (which I'm there at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week) I have no option but to use the default browser, which is Internet Explorer. I use Firefox at home, but to be completely honest, if I need to actually get some work done, I switch to IE if it's a trusted site and I need to do browser work. If I go porn surfing, then I switch to Firefox with NoScript, Adblock and SiteAdvisor. It's kind of like a "just in case" scenario - sorry Firefox, but your browser on my older system just makes it GRIND to a halt (Only 128 MB RAM - Althon 1300+, 16 Meg Video Card) - IE, I can use all night, and I don't hear the pagefile being accessed when I type in a new address.
I'm sure alot of people are probably in the same boat but don't really speak up - the zealots, to be sure, make it sound like everyone in Slashdot is using Firefox, but if I remember correctly, more people STILL use IE browsing Slashdot than Firefox. I'm sure I'll upgrade to IE7 because it's just faster on *MY* system and it includes tabbed browsing which I enjoy in Firefox. I'll miss using the extensions, which is why I'll probably still use Firefox if I need armour plating to surf in the wild.
Would of been nice to have this release a little sooner however.
One song. A hundred twenty-five times its retail value.
You telling me Britney Spears isn't worth at least that?
To be honest, I think a LOT of guys staring at a thermonuclear blast get hard ons.

No the moral of the story is... you didn't think your cunning plan all the way through....
Good plan, but what if I decide to buy a disposable credit card I can refill at the local grocery store?
Add me :)

You must of forgotten how inept or lazy regular users are.
I think people don't get the point of social networking. It doesn't work if everything is private. That's neither social nor networking.
How social can a single basement dweller be anyways?
...wouldn't be so damn retarded.

Makes me shake my head.

Have they checked that it's not grow lights?
Shhhhhhh! Goddammit!
So Googles competition is Wikipedia?
Nothing like not being able to download a web browser because you don't have a web browser!
What's wrong with going to command line and FTPing in the browser? Err wait..

Interesting. I stand corrected.
