Similar late fee problem here -- except it was for a movie that had been rented (and forgotten). Returned it weeks before and finally wanted a new rental. The late fees came to something like $96. I laughed at them and offered to buy the movie instead ($40 range). They declined. They wanted their ridiculous late fees.
The conversation got a bit heated (me:) and they reminded me they had my credit card on file and would just charge it anyway. I declined. Excused myself to "think about it" and go find another movie to rent (not). Went to the back of the store, called the bank, and cancelled the card in question.
Handed them my non-rentals on the way out the door (why should I put them back?). Let them know as I was passing to go ahead and close the account and "good luck" getting any charges through. They were bankrupt within a year.
> I have to wait for stuff. And I spent less time watching since I can only have one DVD out at a time. Both of these are things I have to deal with because I am too broke to replace my 1990's DVD player and 1980's 13" TV.
Go to sleep earlier on Sunday. You won't be tired Monday. If you have to change your phone system, cameras, copiers, faxes, and much of anything else... then you're doing it wrong. They should all be automated or dumped.
I have all the same equipment here. I had to change nothing. Except the center old school analog clock in my car. Shame on Chrysler [300 SRT8 thank you:-]. And no, Chrysler didn't factory make this car for me. I just made it really fucking fast to get in front of all the maniacs on the road. I am king maniac.
Seriously though -- all the equipment you mention, if updated in the last TWO decades, should be able to handle a NTP server. Set one up. Use it... (?)
And that is exactly why I don't go to the eye doctor as often as I should. The last time I went to the eye doctor (full exam) and got myself two new pair of matching glasses (primary / backup)... I didn't walk out the door for under $1,000. That was a decade ago.
The only reason I went then was because at 40 something my eyes finally "froze" -- I couldn't focus on small print anymore. Expected and normal. Prior to that it was probably another decade (or two) since I'd been.
I don't own a Tesla... but drive one. Just try it. Once. (WOW!)
As for your comment... LOL. Because they know what they're doing?? Let's see -- off the top of my head: AMC - Gremlin, Pacer Cadillac - Fleetwood, Cimarron Chrysler- Desoto, Imperial LeBaron Chevy - Chevette, SSR Ford - Edsel, Pinto GM - EV1 Pontiac - Aztek... the list is LONG of "duds" from manufacturers that have made cars for decades.
One question that I've never gotten a good answer to and simply don't understand: WHAT MEANS TO AN END?
Meaning -- a true flat earther believes that ALL the governments of the world along with scientists, media, etc... and ALL trying to make us believe the world is round.
Ok... what means to an end? WHY would they do this? HOW do they benefit from hiding the FLAT truth to you?
I've had multiple OWC branded SSD's die on me. I usually like OWC branded items, but the SSD failure has me pulling any / all such branded ones out of service.
It was my understanding that a failing SSD (can't write anymore properly) should flip itself over to READ ONLY mode. At least this would give you a chance to pull the existing data off the drive.
The OWC failures were catastrophic (sans I had working backups:). When these SSD's failed they were just GONE. Nothing. The system wouldn't see them even connected.
At least with a hard drive they typically gave you some warning. Getting louder, clicking,... I can really only think of one drive that just utterly died as I've seen SSD's do now.
Just NOPE. Dark fluid... being magically replenished... wrong answer to a rather complex question.
They need to explore / understand the fabric of space *itself*. It is stretchable. It can contract. It is also, itself, simply coming apart. If you try to measure this "coming apart" the problem (that I have) is that the measuring instrument itself is coming apart (expanding).
One day the cohesion of space itself will come to a breaking point (the end).
LOL -- and I can't get Satellite Internet. DirectTV, DiSH, et al were not a good option for me (price vs bandwidth caps).
I tried ViaSAT. Tried. *COULD NOT GET IT INSTALLED* After two months of trying -- I just gave up. They INSIST on installing on the roof. I won't allow it.
Right next to the roof and where I wanted the install to happen is a three point 60ft tower. It's rock solid. Install there. They simply refused -- and offered putting a pole in the middle of the yard and trenching a line in would work. Except there's a septic tank right there.
New steel roof is still going on next year. No SAT I guess.
Don't get sick people! It may kill you... or they will. The last time I went to the doctor (too many years ago) I walked away just shaking my head. In disgust.
My doctor was recommended to me by mom -- a now retired charge nurse in ER; ie: she knows her shit... I fully trust her opinion and when she told me to go to her GP because he was bar none the best in the area at diagnosing problems. So I went to him (w/ a tummy ache).
He spent more time administering the computer. His hands and eyes were on the laptop a hell of a lot longer than on me. I felt like the computer was the patient.
I absolutely lost it (and left) when the questions started. "Do you have a gun in the house?". WHAT THE FUCK does that have to do w/ my abdominal pain? The government should really stay the hell out of my medical care...
Good 'ol paper and charts were way better IMHO. I'm just old enough to remember doctors making house calls. Miss those days.
> - Finally, the thing that beeps at me because I don't use my seatbelt can still be fooled by wrapping the seatbelt around the back of the seat and keeping it fastened like that forever. Thank god cars still aren't smart enough to see past that trick.
Why in the hell would you even do this? Are you really that fucking stupid?? Simply put: seat belts work.
LOL -- my commute is double yours (60 minutes). Each way. And there is NO WAY I could bike it -- I'm usually doing ~80mph for the most part... Bike. I wish!
I'd love to understand why this post got modded down. I'm with you though -- our private network uses a private DNS. For a reason.
First and foremost there are private internal servers which should never resolve on the Internet. It's our Intranet. Firefox will therefor be removed from all clients very shortly apparently.
And then there is one exception -- our Internet facing web server is not properly resolvable from the Intranet. If the Internet DNS is used then the local user ends up at the damn Comcast modem login page. Useless to them.
It is for our domain (only) that on the Intranet DNS it is ALSO configured authoritatively and will resolve to local Intranet address' accordingly. Mozilla just broke this too.
Internet killed our [primary] business. Thanks guys.:) Primary business back in the day was newspaper presses. Installing, moving, upgrading, repairing, etc.
Guess how the newspaper business is doing today?
They're barely fixing what they have, no big moves or expansions anymore. All the web-width reductions are were done long ago -- notice how all the papers around the world got skinnier and skinnier? You're welcome - my patent. DOA today.
I laid off every friend I had hired and the whole fam-damily. Then closed and locked the doors myself and literally handed the keys to the bank. Walked away.
Flying a plane takes little skill [IMHO -- I am a pilot:=]. Flying a plane into a building DOES take a bit of skill (and stupid as fuck). LANDING a plane safely is a completely different beast. It's not easy...
It's hit or miss in the Chicago area [suburb] today. Business Comcast line -- internal DNS used.
First noticed when Liveleak wouldn't load. Slashdot was kind of loading, kind of not at that point. Most sites were up and working it appeared at that point.
Then I started to get worried. I can't get to: American Express, Citibank, Bank of America, Chase, Discover, Barclays, CapitalOne, Amazon Credit (amazon.com proper is up).
From my perspective most sites work (not all) if non-financial based. ALL financial sites are just gone.

Alright then ... smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Makes so sense. Oh, and the world is round. Ish.
I believe Stanley Black & Decker bought out the Craftsman line (last January for 700 to 900 million?).
The lifetime warranty should still apply... ?

Best post ever.
Are you me? Exactly what I do and why. Exactly.

Entering my bedroom (or hell, my house) without consent is a violent offense. At least it would end violently...
So yes, he should have been killed. DAMN LUCKY to be alive IMHO.
