Obviously, the suite would not be complete without NVU, or some sort of Composer. I wonder why no one thought about it before. How could we name it? Let me think... Mozilla Firefox... Mozilla Thunderbird... Mozilla Sunbird... a unique app... for mail... internet... uhm... full integration... i got it! Let's call it Windows!
C'mon, we're on Slashdot. Most of us are little dirty... you know... singers, with HDs full of... uhm... midi bases.
Anyway, it reminds me a joke:
A rich man wants to impress his rich friends. He looks at the catalogue of expensive stuff for rich people, when he is attracted by tha announce of the "Artificial hand". He goes to the doctor which implants the device.
The doctor assures him: - The hand is completely automated, voice commanded.
The rich man goes home with his shiny new artificial hand. He decides to practise a bit before calling his friends.
He says: "Wine". The hand picks a bottle, fills a glass of wine and gently raises it to his mouth.
"Egg". The hand takes an egg from the fridge and cooks it.
The rich man is immpressed. He goes in front of the TV.
"TV". The hand picks up the remote and turns on the TV.
"Zapping". The hand starts zapping at supersonic speed.
At one point, a naked woman appears on the TV.
"Stop". The hand stops zapping.
After some seconds, the rich man tries the magic word.
"Masturbation". The hand warms up and starts doing its job.
At this point, the rich man says "Wow, it's even better than a b***job". Mimick the act of the hand rising in Japanese robot style, and breaking the neck of the rich man trying to get his mouth near to his d**k.
if an actor almost 70(!!) can understand the importance of new technology, why can't a "consortium" of movie companies who "supposedly" have our best interests in mind embrace digital distribution?
Sorry. I should have stated it more clearly. I told that I am Italian because I was bashing what I think is a widespread habit in Italy: a slight and diffuse tendency to overestimation of oneself (e.g. look at our present Prime Minister). Therefore I was not stating that I hold the truth, I was simply asking not to be bashed as racist or something.
Facts:
The Professor of "Theories and techniques of online communication" at the Cattolica University, which is a private university, is Emilio Carelli (in Italian). Looking at his CV it is clear that he does not belong to the academia, but to Fininvest (a private holding of our Prime Minister). Currently he works for Sky (Murdoch's corporation). Incidentally, Marco Montemagno also works for Sky.
Personal opinion:
I'm not absolutely saying that people working in the outside world should stay out of academia (actually, we need more smart people from both industry and corporate world), but I raise the possibility that (in Italy) if your boss at Megacorp inc. works also for a private university and if you know the right people, you have good chances to obtain a highly paid job regardless of your effective skills and merits. Unfortunately this also happens, even if a bit less, in public universities.
Sadly, Montemagno's Manifesto confirms my previous assertions.
I'm Italian, and I feel pretty confident in claiming that he is not an arts professor. He did some work at an University (probably some TA sessions), but he's definitely not a professor. He looks more like a politician with the hobby of informatics, and the fact that he took part at several TV shows as an Internet expert (that's how he calls himself on his website), is more a symptom of the poorness of Italian TV, rather than a proof of his competence.
It's such a pity that ActiveX does not work with Firefox under Linux. If it worked, I could visit his web page and have some fun trying to kill his script with psDoom before it actually starts formatting my hard drive.
It is plain true: Linux is still far behind Windows for us hard-core gamers.
From the article: Marketscore, for its part, insists that its application is neither spyware nor even adware. Security experts generally classify spyware as software that installs itself without a user's permission and doesn't clearly or honestly tell users what personal information it is gathering and how it is using it. Adware performs many -- if not all -- of the same functions as spyware, but alerts users to its presence and intentions.
Unfortunately, my Internet broke yesterday. I backed it up last week by dragging it from the desktop to the CDR, but I don't know how to copy it back to my PC. I see it on the CD, but if I click the 'e' it doesn't do anything.
Can anyone send me a working Internet by e-mail, please?
That's not true. It's not the best firewalling solution ut there (I personally prefer using the free version of Sygate Personal Firewall) (honestly, I personally prefer not to run Windows) but you can add some 'exceptions' (i.e. filtering rules), and it's better than nothing for Mr. and Mrs. Clueless.
In addition, it's an application level firewall (AFAIK the internet connection firewall in WinXP was only a level 3 'block any incoming connection' solution).
As I said, neither state-of-the-art, neither junk.
Talking about Minority Report, it's absurd that Precrime didn't revoke his biometric key right after his escape, and didn't setup the system to issue an alert if he tried to get back into the facility.
Maybe it should be named zero-year exploit.

The answer is simple: he is God!
Not only! Have you ever tried to put a nail into a hacker? It dissolves in 4 days (the nail, not the hacker)!
Awesome! The post you mention is one year old and the link is STILL SLASHDOTTED!
I had the same question. I threw it at the AS/400 I have in my kitchen and it gave me the answer: 42.
Sorry, I don't understand. Exactly, what's wrong with with your post?
Sure they have!
They just realized what was at point 2.
Sorry, but this guy was a dumbass. I personally solved this issue with as little as 6000 miles of wire bought at Walmart.

I hope I made it clear.

You've said it. Really, what Creative needs to do is to add Myrinet support to its players.
Now, that would be bandwidth, with the side advantage that you could even stop imagining a beowulf cluster of those.
I, for one, welcome our new fresh jokes overlord!

Does CRAPware sound more appropriate?
By the time I've processed half of it, I will be totally blind, not to mention my handache.

Hey, I knew you geeks are strange guys, but I would have never thought you could read books with such weird titles!

It doesn't run with Wine.
No, it wasn't.
Cordially yours,
RMS
It has never been a problem for me. Cordially yours, the goatse.cx guy.
