if an actor almost 70(!!) can understand the importance of new technology, why can't a "consortium" of movie companies who "supposedly" have our best interests in mind embrace digital distribution?
Sorry. I should have stated it more clearly. I told that I am Italian because I was bashing what I think is a widespread habit in Italy: a slight and diffuse tendency to overestimation of oneself (e.g. look at our present Prime Minister). The Professor of "Theories and techniques of online communication" at the Cattolica University, which is a private university, is Emilio Carelli (in Italian). Looking at his CV it is clear that he does not belong to the academia, but to Fininvest (a private holding of our Prime Minister). Currently he works for Sky (Murdoch's corporation). Incidentally, Marco Montemagno also works for Sky.
Personal opinion:
I'm not absolutely saying that people working in the outside world should stay out of academia (actually, we need more smart people from both industry and corporate world), but I raise the possibility that (in Italy) if your boss at Megacorp inc. works also for a private university and if you know the right people, you have good chances to obtain a highly paid job regardless of your effective skills and merits. Unfortunately this also happens, even if a bit less, in public universities.
Sadly, Montemagno's Manifesto confirms my previous assertions.
I'm Italian, and I feel pretty confident in claiming that he is not an arts professor. He did some work at an University (probably some TA sessions), but he's definitely not a professor. He looks more like a politician with the hobby of informatics, and the fact that he took part at several TV shows as an Internet expert (that's how he calls himself on his website), is more a symptom of the poorness of Italian TV, rather than a proof of his competence.
It's such a pity that ActiveX does not work with Firefox under Linux. If it worked, I could visit his web page and have some fun trying to kill his script with psDoom before it actually starts formatting my hard drive.

It's not the best firewalling solution ut there (I personally prefer using the free version of Sygate Personal Firewall) (honestly, I personally prefer not to run Windows) but you can add some 'exceptions' (i.e. filtering rules), and it's better than nothing for Mr. and Mrs. Clueless.
In addition, it's an application level firewall (AFAIK the internet connection firewall in WinXP was only a level 3 'block any incoming connection' solution).
As I said, neither state-of-the-art, neither junk.
Talking about Minority Report, it's absurd that Precrime didn't revoke his biometric key right after his escape, and didn't setup the system to issue an alert if he tried to get back into the facility.
