    To be honest, I dont get it! I am not living in US, so the whole biz with the racism thing is strange to me. What I do know is that the "white" is generally not seen as something negative, "white" in this context is describing people who has been seen (by them self) to be superior. Yeah take that! Flame away, "white" people has not been the victim of a racist society (in general..), so saying "white"[negative noun] is basically {equalling}(my invention...) the scores. So here I go: "WHITE SCUM"!! He, this is as far as I can go in trashing my karma, nevermind, I'll quit posting here anyway..Gods be.

    Please, somone put a stop to stupid anologies, comparing OS to cars and bikes and what not???
    Its my experience that ignorant people tend to use anologies, like a toiler on the sea, trying to unlock a hole ;)
    Anyway, stupid people not knowing what the talk about trying to make up stupid anologies as if the subject was to complicated to adress directly...

    A lawyer friend predicted the above comment 4 years ago, I made sure to write down the details and dates for the upcoming FUD from the AC. He also predicted that the AC would spend quite some time in the toilet(no, not all details will be given here), at the office, talking to himself in the mirror "I will get an promotion", "I will be picked up in the corp limo, and invited to a party with the big boys". Then my lawyer friend told me that the poor AC would be dissapointed....Time will tell.

    Reeding stuff at /. has learned me how to scan text for signs of BS. Reading the quoted text above,

    one has to react to the program part. What is an 'program' doing in the linux-kernel?? What does that mean??
    I remembered when I read that statement that I quit reading the rest, since it is obvious BS (to me that is).

    You aren't very likely to "cut and paste" anything from another OS into the linux kernel and make it work, if you could(with lots of 'wrapping' code) it wouldn't get past any of the kernel developers, simply becouse it would look like crap, and crap wouldn't make it into the kernel. It is as simple as that!

    Ok, M$ is giving (will give?) SCO a sum of money for something. Right? Well I would like to know how much! The thing is I was expecting some kind of moneyflow from M$ to SCO, though I didn't expect it to happen like this. But does it matter what the official "trade" is? It depends of the size of the transfer. I belived M$ was behind the hole SCO-suing-IBM-and-everybuddy, from the start. It was *so* M$-ish, and they always thinks they are so clever(sometimes they are), hiding the payment in "licens" fees. ?? Bah. Maybe time will tell...

    It seems to me that using vnc causes less load on the client (i.e X-server), than doing it the remote Xwindows way, what I would like to see is vnc on frambuffer. Can it be done?? it sure (not shure ^) should! That would be nicer (and using ssh on vnc is easy and with compression it's nice to the network as well), and it doesnt mess up my 8-color-bit display to bad ;), and my mouse on a flash in mozilla doesnt freeze up the scrolling and it's easy to have a script starting (pw protected httpd-dir) a vncserver through a cgi-script(from your local internet cafe and using a java-enabled browser(who are we kidding, its all damned IE), gives you a linux desktop that impress the lusers at the cafe!)

    I think it is on a (healty) diet. What I expect to see is more revenue through services. I dont sell software, I give it away(gpl), then I (try to)get my revenue through expertise consulting(I tend to know the software I designed myself), unless the client want some specialized solution(they dictate what the want, I supply ), I think it is a good idea to gpl it. The way I see it, software is part of the infrastructure in an modern society, charging for every pice of sw is not an option, we all know gnu software. I would go so far as to say, the infrastructure (ie *generic* software) is (should be) a human right.

    Yes! I Changed my mozilla ua string to
    user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Linux)")
    It worked with my online bank! This is what we should do, i.e not fake the OS part of the string.
    It Never crossed my mind.. Thanks.

    I am using mozilla and "faking" my useragent.. I dont want to but I have to, in order to use my "internet-bank".
    The way I do it is adding

    user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)"); to my prefs.js.

    I have the feeling that this is common practise. I would prefer to have (like some other brilliant browser) the ability to "fake" the useragent for specific urls only.

    Also maybe you should move out of your country to a more ruthlessly capitalist society. If you did (and lived on the wrong side of the power divide in both) you might actually be in a position to make a valid comparison.

    I have grown up (still live) in one of those countries you are talking about. As you put it "socialist or totalitarian states have applied communism to enslave the people". Its not the first time I've heard the argument "no no, thats not *real* communism, in das kapital it says bla bla, yada yada". All of these countries (china etc)are quite sure they are (or used to be) communistic societys, You know better? Please dont slap me with das kapital, as I said, the argument that we never seen an *actual* communistic society is in my opinion flawed. Its just Your idealistic view on communism, not how it *actually* (real examples) manifests itself in a society. It never manifested itself as openness and free choice, and I belive it never will.
    Communistic society without religion?? No possessions? Over my dead body.
